  1. I saw plenty of Leafs (Leaves?) and Teslas in the Phoenix area...people out driving them on 115+ degree days, and they weren't creeping along at 10 mph either...
  2. Since I've been here, I've taken a few short trips east and west along Lake Erie. The coastal roads through little towns are pretty scenic.
  3. I do road trips once in a while, but in reality---if I have a 4 day weekend to go somewhere, I'm not going to waste 8 or more hours on a boring interstate...
  4. Si... usually if it's over about 4hrs I fly unless the road trip is a scheduled part of a vacation/etc. If its a 3 day weekend, I'd rather fly than waste hours on the road.
  5. Neat app. I see the Hyatt about a mile from me has a charger, as does a Dunkin' Donuts a couple miles away. (Not that I need one, but I'll admit to being EV-curious)
  6. Alfa's sales are so low the 2.9 doesn't matter.
  7. That would be interesting if FCA or GM offered something like this with mainstream models for $500 a month, maybe one vehicle change per month.
  8. And just imagine the smell of McDonald's seasonal pumpkin spice pie and the delicious new buttermilk crispy chicken tenders in there...
  9. If it's real enough to go through the MickeyDs drive through, that's pretty real...but the cockpit is likely too low for a drivethru, needs to be more at Tahoe height..;)
  10. So? For more horsepower and torque, Jeep has the Hemi option.
  11. A normcore EV would be a game changer. I wonder if the Malibu platform can support the EV hardware, as opposed to something purpose-built as an EV like the Bolt. Ford has the Focus Electric, but something like a Malibu EV if it had a good range and price could be a hit...
  12. Back to reality, Musk says Tesla still in 'production hell'. https://arstechnica.com/cars/2017/10/elon-musk-says-tesla-is-in-model-3-production-hell/
  13. Not to mention the absurdity of financing a 30 yr old car...who does that???
  14. I'm sure they could easily sell 1000 in Dubai alone...
  15. Why? Nothing wrong with the Pentastar as it is...no point in a turbo version.
  16. Nuclear and natural gas mostly here in NE Ohio....
  17. Saw this Halloween display a couple streets over, using a '57 Chevy 150 2dr sedan..
  18. I could see it appealing to current Ferrari owners that also have a Range Rover, Bentyaga or other high end SUV. Or people wanting a Ferrari but needing the practicality of an SUV. Lamborghini is doing one, Aston Martin probably will eventually... Like back when Porsche added the Cayenne, they realized there were way more profits to be had than by selling sports cars only...
  19. When I bought my CPO GC in March, there were several CPO diesel '14-15 GCs at the dealer, similar pricing but higher mileage. I didn't seriously consider the diesel, and after reading various horror stories (catalytic converter failures, etc) about them on the Jeep forums I'm glad I stuck w/ the Pentstar. I don't see any advantage to the diesel other than range and that doesn't really matter to me..
  20. I've read of Porsche Consulting in one of the car mags a few years ago. They do speciality auto engineering consulting for other car makers on the down low. Like helping Hyundai design a cylinder head or Proton design a suspension. ( not actual examples but hypothetical). Kind of like what Lotus has done over the years, but without the publicity. There is/was also Porsche Design, not sure where that fit in..they did things like bicycles, purses, laptop cases, etc..
  21. I do wonder if to achieve 200k a year they will have to subcontract out some of the assembly, maybe to a supplier like Magna or Valmet. Though I have no idea how much of their assembly line processes is compatible with normal auto manufacturing processes...
  22. Interesting quartic steering wheel, kind of retro touch along with the horizontal dash.
  23. Oddly the article didn't mention the actual sales numbers.
  24. Yes, back to reality, the challenge for Tesla is to scale up production and maintain quality. Something other car makers have generally perfected over the last 100 or so years. Not a small task for a small company...can they rise to the challenge of mass production? Time will tell...
  25. And the Bolt has the trendy floating roof design...like the new Leaf. The Fit and Versa have more ordinary 6-light greenhouses.
