  1. Probably won't be doing much off roading (other than occasionally driving on the muddy gravel lane down at the farm), but lake effect snow and ice is a real NE Ohio likelyhood. This winter probably won't need to go out much in the ick since I'm working from home. 265/50r 20s for the GC.
  2. I can't recall the last time I saw one of the fuselage C-bodies out and about..years, I think.
  3. Beautiful weather but unseasonably hot lately for this time of year (around 90), saw a bunch on interesting old cars out and about today. A couple streets over from me saw a sharp dark olive green '70-72 Monte Carlo on Cragar SS wheels (couldn't see the front, so not sure of the year), on the road a sharp yellow '72 Buick GS convertible, top down, white interior; a very clean '87-90 Chevy Caprice--dark red w/ no vinyl top, white walls and wire wheel covers; and at Swenson's (NE Ohio drive in burger joint) a pair of well worn-but-still driven older Mopars--a red '69 Polara 2dr ht and a dark green '74-76 Dodge 4x4 pickup...sitting side by side.
  4. I would assume fleet buyers of semi trucks compare brands with some sort of TCO calculation to determine which are the most cost-effective? Individual owner-operators would be a different use case, of course.
  5. I like the look of the XC60 much more than the XC40...the rear quarters and rear doors of the 40 are too odd, IMO. But the current Volvos I like the look of more are the wagons...V60 and V90.
  6. Not sure how there is any correlation between MB and EVs and US market heavy duty diesel trucks... way to go off-topic.
  7. In olden days, fuel economy and cost of operation were actually taking points in truck advertising. Came across a 1953 Ford truck ad whilst reading the new Collectible Automobile Magazine, and the ad emphasized economy.
  8. No reason not to provide the MPG figures...would think those numbers would be of value esp. to fleet buyers who do buy some of the HD trucks.
  9. They supposedly built 8 cars in 2014...so yes, the product exists, but in insignificant numbers...again, nothing compared to the output of a real car company.
  10. Germany has a long history in the auto industry...Croatia--none.... I'm skeptical of some tiny company with no track record from a place with no reputation for autos....
  11. ^ Looking to get new tires for my Jeep before winter..the original Goodyear Forteras are pretty worn at 30k (pretty soft tires I've read). I want something that will be good in NE Ohio winters... will have to look into the Michelins..was thinking about Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs also. In 170k on my old GC IIRC I had 3 sets of Goodyear tires--one set of Forteras and 2 sets of Wranglers ( got about 50k out of the original factory set), and a set of BF Goodrich Long Trail (the last set, bought in AZ and never in snow). Got the BFs at Discount Tire in Phoenix, had great service and prices.
  12. Since it's not from a reputable existing car company, I wouldn't expect the Rimac to perform at all...a Rimac is what Richard Hammond crashed in Switzerland recently, went off the road and burst into flame...like a kit car, but more expensive..can't imagine anyone paying $2 mill for such garbage.
  13. What I don't get is why he is expecting BMW to responsible for issues with an old car...that 7 series is from about 15 years ago....the guy is obviously mentally ill, he should move on and buy a Toyota..
  14. Could be...wouldn't trust any company from Eastern Europe...lots of shady stuff coming out of there.
  15. That's typical for American tech startups, though..takes a while for them to get profitable. I have to laugh at people that try and discredit an American startup car company, yet praise unknown nonsense from a company like Rimac--some nothing company from nowhere...
  16. Tesla is well funded American company and actually selling cars, what are Rimac's sales numbers? Shady Eastern European nonsense, IMO....these silly hypercar companies from backwaters come and go all the time...Lycan, Mastretta, etc...lots of hype, no substance.... about the only one that seems to actually be a real company with solid engineering is Koenigsegg.
  17. How 20th century...but can you get a car today without A/C and with an AM radio?
  18. Hard to take 'Rimac' seriously, though when compared to real car companies....a startup car company in Croatia? Riiiight...more prototypes with low odds of success...I'm skeptical of these new supercar companies, just a lot of hype without substance. M-B AMG I take seriously..
  19. That's just fantasy vaporware, though...do you think it will really ever see production?
  20. Volvo no longer has 5 or 6 cyl engines, everything is 4 cyl now, I believe?
  21. The Ghibli/QP platform seems like it would be a good replacement for the LX platform--it's large and heavy, while the Guilia/Giorgio is too small.
  22. ^ fun...I'm familiar w/ Mylene Farmer.. Quebecois hottie...
  23. 'luxury' vehicles today are all about increasingly complex electronics that will be obsolete in a few years and will fail expensively in a few years. They are intended to be leased or owned for only a few short years under warranty then traded for the next new thing...
  24. The ultra-basic/simple styling reminds me of the original Land Rover and the original Bronco...very old school looking. Wonder if it could be built though w/ the realities of today's market.
