  1. Chevy needs to keep the Equinox the size it is as a midsize CUV and add subcompact (Trax) and compact CUVs below it, to line up better w/ Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, etc.
  2. Nice interior...Chevy has needed a King Ranch and Denali competitor for a while. Edit: couldn't recall the name of the Ram equivalent--thought it was Bighorn but found it is Laramie Longhorn.
  3. I like the quad light XJ Wagoneer headlight arrangement, with the horizontal bar grille. Haven't seen one of these in years..
  4. If you go w/ the bling headlights, you need some of these for the rear.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-Jeep-Cherokee-BLK-Altezza-Tail-Lights-Brake-Lamps-LED-Daytime-Fog-Lamps-/190823037719?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AJeep%7CModel%3ACherokee&hash=item2c6df07b17&vxp=mtr
  5. It sounds like it's part of their plan to limit volume as much as possible.
  6. Has GM announced an order date or on-sale date yet? No mention of the SS on the US Chevy site under cars..
  7. How about this 2005 Chinese-market one..unusually tall grille.
  8. I'm not sure why you would want a worn-out Jeep when you have a nice newish Charger also.
  9. It's the aspirational CUV of women in suburbia nationwide. Combine the Toyota reliability reputation + Lexus accoutrements + the coveted 'L' on the nose = sales gold.
  10. May Day is electric and hybrid day so far... saw two Tesla roadsters w/ tops open, a black Tesla Model S, a Leaf, a dark red Fisker Karma, 3 Lexus HS250hes, a 1st gen Honda Insight (badging removed and a Transformer badges added along w/ 'ASU' in chrome letters on the rear) and my coworker's new silver Honda Insight (replaced his silver Civic Hybrid that got totalled recently).... all within a 1/2 mile of my office.
  11. Studebaker had a Scotsman car as well...I guess the name was from the stereotype of Scots being thrifty. Didn't know they used that name on trucks also.
  12. Yes, interesting to look at the numbers...in the March YTD numbers both the Malibu and Cruze are in 4th place in their respective classes..
  13. If Google and Toyota eventually offer a self-driving version of the iQ, xB, or Prius that will probably get the youfs, esp. if it packed w/ entertainment electronics...
  14. I wonder how low the volume of the Infiniti QX is...oddly, I see a fair number of them, more than the Lexus LX....my next door neighbor has one..
  15. I wonder if the next Forte will have a Koup version also.. Nice to see a few car makers (Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Toyota) still offer coupe versions of their FWD compacts, considering the Big 3 gave up on them.
  16. Since the Cruze is an international model, I'd expect similar styling cues to the Spark, Sonic and Malibu....remember the Impala is NA only and thus goes it's own way styling wise...
  17. True, they were a midsize B-body. Basically an update of the '71 B-body, which included the Coronet, Charger, Road Runner, GTX and Satellite. '75 was a restyle w/ more formal rooflines for regular 2drs and various re-namings in the following years. The Charger SE and Cordoba were Chrysler's answer to the Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Elite and Cougar XR-7 in the growth years of the midsize personal luxury coupe..
  18. Saw a few old Beetles and VW vans buzzing around in So Cal over the last few days...along w/ several other cars you don't see elsewhere, like '70s Datsun 510s, '70s Datsun Lil Hustler pickups, '70s-80s RWD Toyota Corollas, an Initial-D spec Toyota Trueno (w/ the paint job, wheels and graphics as in the Manga). Whilst cruising around Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, etc for a few hours yesterday I saw lots of uncommon and unusual (McLarens) cars...
  19. Functional...the plastics seemed ok...had some faux stitching on the dash pad. Cup holders worked ok, decent sized glove box and several cubbyholes. Outward visibility was good.
  20. I was in So Cal the last few days for the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix Indy Car race weekend, so it was only appropriate my rental car was a Camry. Had a white Camry w/ a black & gray two tone cloth interior. Drove about 150 miles around Long Beach and Orange County over the last few days. I had a choice of a Camry or Altima Friday night at Hertz, and I realized I'd never driven one so what the heck... Impressions: Nothing memorable. The car was perfectly functional, comfortable, smooth, quiet but really didn't leave much of an impression. Big trunk. Power seemed adequate for accelerating up the notoriously short So Cal on-ramps to the various freeways I used. It left so little of an impression I didn't even take a photo. It must have been a base model, I did notice the left side of the dash had several plugs where switches would be and it had manual seats, surprising to see these days. No nav that I noticed, but it did have a touchscreen for audio functions. To sum it up: plain vanilla, but just the way American consumers like it.
  21. Saw a dark blue McLaren MP4-12C yesterday and a dark blue Acura RLX--first one of those I'd seen, didn't realize it was on sale yet. Also drove past a McLaren dealer (Newport Beach, CA), first one of those I'd seen.
  22. That wrecked CVPI brings a new meaning to 'mobile phone'..
  23. Hmmm....maybe it's just the area, then?
  24. Sounds overly ambitious..haven't they been talking about bringing Alfa back for 15 years or so now? I'll believe it when I see it...
  25. Too small, too noisy. I can't stand cramped, noisy 4 cyl cars. I try and avoid anything smaller than a midsize in a rental, would never buy a FWD compact or subcompact appliance.
