  1. Neat how you can get the roof panels in body color...I usually seem them in matte black.
  2. Back when the first Fast & The Furious movie came out I used to have kiddies in riced-out Eclipses, Civics, etc try and race me from stoplights when I was in my Mustang GT or my M3. Even in my Jeep (4500lbs, 195hp) I was able to pull away and leave 'em... If you were in the Mustang or the Bimmer, why did they even bother? did they really think their heavier-than-stock (bodykits), no-more-powerful (no mechanical mods) cars could really stand a chance? I've been able to fend off Civics and Eclipses with the Cobalt too, but I think even an E36 sedan is more than a match for me. Yeah, but they had their yellow windshield wiper--remember, yellow adds power, and they also had the giant fart-can muffler...
  3. Nice spring day today, 82 degrees...saw a gorgeous black '67 Coupe de Ville out and about...rolling on vogues and wire wheels. Saw a clean dark blue '71 Cutlass Supreme convertible, top down.
  4. Volt, Ampera, ELR...I would think a CUV would be next...but it will probably be something unique rather than an existing CUV model...buyers of plugin hybrids want uniqueness...
  5. Took the words right out of my mouth. I will make one guilty admission about the new Cherokee, though. I see one heritage cue in the entire design and I sort of appreciate its interpretation. That kinked seven-slot grille was sort of there on the earlier XJs and the YJ Wrangler. That element on its own would be fine if the surrounding details on the KL were better and more traditional. I made the connection on the grille also... I like the grille...it's the lighting I find horrific. If it had lighting similar to the current Compass and Grand Cherokee (or the Patriot's round lights), I'd find a lot more to like about the design..instead, it seems like they are trying to emulate the Juke with it's similarly weird lighting arrangement.
  6. FWD frontal overhang takes some getting used to...esp. when parking.
  7. Gravel roads/driveways and curb jumping is probably about the only off road action it will see in the real world (same as probably 99% of CUVs and SUVs)..
  8. smash (as in gamma rays -> hulk -> smash)
  9. Probably being shipped to Mexico via Texas....strong cheap used car market in Mexico, and a salvage title is probably no issue there...
  10. So the base Commodores in Oz have 14 inch wheels? Those look really tiny.
  11. Saw a solid silver '76/77 El Camino in traffic yesterday...
  12. It will probably be a FWD/AWD CUV based on the Fiat 500...
  13. Atom
  14. Saw a tricked out XTS this morning...dark red, gold badging, tan carriage roof, wide whitewall tires, blingy wheels...

The seat print reminds me of a shirt I had during my flannel phase.

Would be interesting to see this on normal sized tires. It's not anything that would make it to production, but certainly interesting as a concept.
  17. Yes..the kink at the back edge of the quarter windows is definitely an Mk I touch...
  18. Looks great inside and out...nice evolutionary styling. The Golf is still my favorite compact, it doesn't have any of the overstyled cheese the Focus, Hyundai, etc have or the blandness of the Corolla...
  19. I would think two cute utes already (Compass, Patriot) would have been enough, but noooo....sad to see Jeep continue to be diluted.
  20. One thing I missed in the writeups--the hardware..is this just a FWD/AWD CUV or is it a RWD/AWD SUV?
  21. Another anecdotal observation...I showed the pics to my sister who used to own a Liberty and likes my GC...she thought it was ugly.

Stash a folding stepladder behind the seat...
  23. The UK must be a week ahead also, tonights BBCA episode (Ep. 4 of series 19) has Lewis Hamilton, 3 hot hatches, and cameos by Bruce Willis, Eric Clapton, and Matt LeBlanc...watching the car rugby piece now..

This is probably a Photoshop, but pretty cool..
  25. That's...different.. some sort of Chevy truck dash narrowed inside? Would have been more interesting if it had been a crew cab Gladiator, IMO. Edit: found one that someone built: and another (looks like a cut down Wagonneer)
