  1. Saw an obscure vehicle in traffic today that reminded me of what the Encore is---a Mitsubishi Expo. Same idea, but more upright and probably bigger.
  2. LOL - "i" still stands for fuel injection. BMW welcomes you to 1975. No, that's i when it's used at the end..like 328i. This is the 'i' subbrand like M, X, or Z. Different paradigm.
  3. That would make sense..that's what the original was all about. Not a drag racer.
  4. Z4 doesn't have a 4cyl well... actually.... I guess it does..base version maybe? I always think of it as a 6 cyl model..
  5. snack
  6. No. The M3 and M5 aren't powered by a 3 or 5 cyl, the Z4 doesn't necessarily have a 4cyl, and the X5 doesn't have a 5cyl. Haven't seen an explanation of the 'i' prefix as far as the new sub-series goes, but I assume it's for 'intelligent' or 'innovation'.
  7. Nothing bad about a convertible..had a few of those as rentals back in the day...those were pleasant enough. But when they are old and worn out, probably wouldn't be much fun..
  8. One year, 1977..very low volume (less than 1400 built), basically production ended when the rear spoiler molding tool broke is what I've read. Olds was the only brand that kept it's muscle trim (442) from '73-77. Chevy dropped the SS after a year or so, Pontiac had the GTO one year, Buick had the GS one or two years..
  9. It's kind of a tall hatchback, a mini-MPV..kind of like the Ford B-Max that is coming or the Golf Plus (is that still sold in the EU?). About the closest thing of this type in the US I guess is the Rondo or Rogue..maybe the Mini Countryman (a bit of a stretch).
  10. I would have expected Buick to do a Theta midsize or compact CUV before they went down to a subcompact..it is surprising, I would have expected a subcompact Chevy CUV first..
  11. I'm surprised how many G-wagens I see in the wild..there are at least 3 within a mile or two of my neighborhood, judging by how often I see them..I once was in the drive thru at Dairy Queen and had one in front of me, one behind me...see them at Starbucks several times a month. I seem to see them more often than the GL-class SUV.
  12. Chevrolet Tulsa and GMC Des Moines.
  13. lolwut? I've never heard of this newfangled Nissan Rondo before. Kia Rondo, same difference..just another soulless FWD appliance...Nissan calls their one Rogue I think.
  14. Boring. Should have bought a Prius if she was all concerned about mileage.
  15. Yeah, I want to drive one also... I drove two '11s this year...maybe I'll rent one from Thrifty on my next trip...
  16. If they priced it low enough, it would sell to the cheapskates that kept the Ranger going for so long w/ so few changes, probably....
  17. Actually, it's a bit over 30 yrs old (G-class came out in '79). Been updated a lot since then..it has the same kind of old-school charm that the Land Rover Defender has. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_G-Class
  18. It's hard on many cars today to distinguish the plood from the real wood because of the super shiny smooth finish..the low gloss, textured wood trim is a nice change. I really like what I've seen of the new 300...had a base rental trim one a couple months ago, and w/ the V6 it was quiet and smooth, plenty enough power for a daily driver IMO. Even w/ the base cloth interior it was very nice place to spend time...I definitely want to check out the Luxury Series when it arrives..
  19. There is a very clean yellow w/ tan top '75-76 Caddy de Ville 4dr ht I've seen 3 times in the last week around my 'hood..saw it again this morning...sweet big boat floating down the street...
  20. Hmmm...tinted glass? Seems uncommon for it's era...
  21. Cool...will have to do a drive by of the BJ showroom...not too far out of my usual commute route..
  22. I guess the sales were so low they phased them out after '73...also, apparently, a manual transmission (3 on the tree) was standard on many B-bodies in '71, but very few were ordered as such..a '71 Biscayne or Bel Air w/ 6cyl and 3 on the tree would be a fascinating find. I've also read the manual was standard in '71 in the Catalina and 88 (with 350s?).
  23. They should do a LWB version w/ some different lighting and grille as an Imperial. The previous generation had a commerical-use LWB version.
  24. Love the look of the house in the background also. Is this the same as the 'Executive' series that was previously announced, or above that?
  25. Home computer: pic on my work Mac desktop:
