  1. Interesting..looks like the US one is getting a deeper grille and diffferent lower fascia than in other markets.
  2. By the mid 80s, a lot of '70s musclecars were worn out and/or rusted out..can't imagine buyers would be comparing then-new (albeit low power) coupes to them...I remember the mid '80s G-bodies (and F-bodies) being pretty popular back in the day..
  3. As far as colors I like on cars I really like, about the only colors I see on the Chevy website I really like for the Camaro are Crystal Red, Imperial Blue and Ashen Gray. For the Charger and Challenger, my favorites are Blackberry Pearl (a very dark blue), white, Redline, and Tungsten metallic. For the Mustang, my favorites are Grabber Blue, Kona Blue, and Lava Red (very dark berry red, kind of like Royal Maroon from '68-69). I'm smitten by the Chrysler 300 in Luxury Brown Pearl...also like the Blackberry Pearl, Crystal Blue (a light silver blue), and Deep Cherry Red. Don't think I'd want a black car, it's been too hard to keep dark blue (my Jeep color) looking good. Dissapointed that no one seems to be doing greens this year..I love dark green and gold-green the Mustang had back in '05.
  4. Nice...my brother had a white and blue '58 Biscayne 2dr sedan with a 283 around 1970-71...I don't remember it because I was about a year old then..
  5. A phantom GTO based on the '80s GP make sense--after all, Olds based their '80s 442 on the Cutlass Supreme. It did always strike me as odd that Pontiac, the brand known for performance and Excitement!! didn't make more of an effort at a performance version (other than the short lived homologation special 2+2) of the GP, considering what Chevy, Buick and Olds did in the same era...
  6. No idea..I'll guess C. But I do know the name, as the Rackham Building at the U of Michigan was named after him..spent a lot time there during my years at the U of M.
  7. Sounds like they didn't dispose of the battery pack properly.
  8. That's where the Spark or Sonic based entry level Caddy will come in...
  9. Yes, been a great thread...educational...Camino is a braver man than I (I'm afraid if I took an engine apart I wouldn't be able to put it back together in a workable form). That mystery part reminds me of an old ceramic insulator from a power line..
  10. Judging by just this one pic and the concept pic together, it looks like the production version is less attractive than the concept, IMO. One detail that I noticed is that little triangle on the rear door upper window frame, which is a weak copout that so many cars have..and the triangle in front of the door at the base of the A-pillar? Predictable and common.
  11. That's the first thing I thought... Ram MegaCab long-ass rear door. The Ram has 3 different 4dr cabs these days w/ 3 different rear door lengths...wild.
  12. It would have been...I think the idea is they thought luxury buyers would prefer a dedicated hybrid--something that looked distinct and not like just another regular car...same idea works with the Prius, maybe not so on a luxury car.
  13. The door cutlines look alot like the Ram.
  14. Like the interior alot...the wood, the colors...like the exterior color also.
  15. Probably need to enclose it in <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tags.
  16. I guess the only model really equivalent to the Volt as far the configuration is the Prius Plug In, but it's only about $32k.
  17. <cynical> Keep the greenhouse, flatten the sides, change the nose and tail, and voila--2014 Impala... </cynical>
  18. Lots of options. If it were me, I'd take into account how far I want to travel (2hr flight vs 4hr flight) and if I'd been to the location before or not, and whether you want to stay a night or two or do it in one day (shorter trip). From the East Coast, I'd consider S. Florida for the weather in the winter, Memphis for the food and music scene...
  19. Reminds a lot of the Sonata but with Cadillac styling cues..I'm wondering about the dimensions..is the wheelbase as short as the LaCrosse or longer? I see differences from the concept in the greenhouse (now a 6-light design) and side contours...
  20. This is supposedly a pic of the production version...has a strong Sonata feel to me..lots of differences from the concept car incl. the greenhouse and side creases.. As seen on www.cadillac.com and Jalopnik.
  21. Yes, that same kind of business is in the Amish country of Ohio near my family farm....I remember seeing lots of older Dodge and Ford long body window vans..
  22. Other oldies I like similar to the full size Fords of the late '60s-early '70s are the Mercury Monterey and Marquis of '69-72...and the '69-70 Marauder X100. Like the Lincolns of the '60s-70s also.
  23. It's Nissan's Club Wagon.....the grille even resembles the Ford pickup from a few years ago.
  24. Interesting to see there were more demos than non-demos on the lots. I've only seen 3 Volts here--two in front of a Chevy dealer showroom a few months ago (replaced by Camaro convertibles and Cruzes there since then) and one wrecked one on a flatbed. I do see a few Leafs on the streets..
