  1. Window is too small to be a Mustang...I'm thinking Impala or Subaru Legacy. Hmmm...looks like frameless doorglass, so Legacy seems more likely..
  2. Not true. Youngsters just need the right job... something involving some chemistry and Pseudoephedrine... actually, now that I think of it, probably your best time to "save up" for a Corvette that way would be before it stays on your adult record... Heh-heh...a legal way kiddies can make decent coin involves using Ruby on Rails, Groovy, or Clojure, or the old standby 3 Ps-- PHP, Perl and Python...
  3. Given the coming EPA standards, an SS version of the Spark or Aveo will be the aspirational halo car for kids in the future.
  4. I do wonder if Ford will find another application for the 5.0...so far, it's only been a one car engine...
  5. I think the Subaru WRX is the hyperactive car for the Red Bull set...
  6. Interesting idea...however, when Porsche and BMW build stripped down track-oriented models, they cost considerably more than the usual loaded versions...
  7. I don't know about the Camero, but it wouldn't have to compete w/ the Camaro...it could give GM a Miata competitor, where the Kappa tried to go. The Camaro is a hefty, muscular 4 seat sports coupe/convertible, a totally different flavor of performance car than a small, nimble 2 seat sports car.
  8. For a smaller, cheaper sports car, GM shouldn't have given up on Kappa....though since Pontiac and Saturn are gone, could Chevy support a 'baby Corvette'?
  9. PSA on checking your tread depth.. Checking tread depth w/ a coin
  10. not possible as is, at least if it stays the "halo" vehicle the point remains - 20 and 30 year olds cannot afford Corvettes. 30 years old is right in the middle of the child raising years for men. $60,000 buys a lot of diapers and 529 deposits. Likewise for 40 year olds..most of my 40 something married w kids friends are buying $40k minivans or SUVs...(one traded his Mustang GT convertible from his single days on a minivan when he transitioned to married w/ twins a few years ago). The only person I've known that bought a new Corvette was a buddy from grad school, leased a '97 when he started his first real job at around 25..caught up him w/ a while back, married w/ kids and has a Prius and minivan now.. Back in the day, my first car purchase after grad school was a 2 yr old M3, I did look at the Corvette then ('98) but really didn't care for it..
  11. The local Chevy store has a dark red w/ tan top '11 Camaro convertible out front..sweet.
  12. A whole lot of irrational exuberance led to that over building..
  13. It's just poorly executed. The problem is that design cue is 70+ years old..I thought Lincoln was trying to get away from the geriatric demo...anyone under 80 is more likely to associate the current Lincoln grilles with Olds designs, not the pre-WWII Zephyr and Continental...besides, trying to harken back to the past is out of sync w/ the modern, high tech image they've crafted for the new models..they want more younger buyers, not retirees...
  14. No more obvious Ford derivatives like the MKZ and MKX...too many shared panels. Some exclusive powertrains. I'm not sure if the Oldsmobile tribute grilles are the right way to go.
  15. Comedian. Author. Radio talk show host. TV show host on Faux News. You'd have to have been under a rock the last 5 years or so not to have heard of him... he's not been on fox that long... CNN called him employee for a while before fox Yes..was on CNN..been on Fox a couple years now.

  17. Interesting..it's warped, and the tread is gone..where did the tread go?
  18. Anyhoo, back to the subject of the thread..looks to be an interesting concept..definitely not a rebadge of another CUV. I wonder how close the production model will be?
  19. Glenn Beck, perhaps?
  20. Fascinating.
  21. Saw a Ford Ranger Electric in traffic...was riding high in the front, low in the back (bed full of batteries?). '100% Electric' sticker on the tailgate. Interesting..
  22. The regular Sonata isn't bad looking from the side and rear, the front not so much..it's the hybrid that is truly revolting up front. I haven't seen a Optima yet, they look pretty nice from the photos. Styling-wise, I like the Mazda6...very clean. Of late model FWD midsizers I've driven a few as rentals-- Sebring, Fusion, Malibu and Mazda6..I think I liked the 6 the most overall for interior/exterior design, roadability, features, etc.
  23. I want to vacuum and detail the interior of my Jeep this year. And continue to get the usual regular maintenance..at about 127k miles now. My work commute has gone from ~50 miles a day to about 16 miles a day. So far this year, I've had the serpentine belt replaced, shocks replaced, along w/ the usual oil change and filter. New tires 6 months ago. Nothing major coming up besides routine service...probably need the A/C checked before summer, didn't seem to be super cold last summer. Need to replace the rear glass struts. Need to replace a blown speaker eventually also..
  24. Yeah, and a downside of global models is they are narrower in general than NA-specific models..
