  1. I'd like to do that..I've driven the stretch from Florida City to Key West several times over the last 20+ years, most recently, this past July in a Chrysler Sebring convertible. Hwy 1/101 on the West Coast is on my to-do list also...I've driven pieces of it (in So. Cal, Nor Cal, and Oregon).
  2. humidity
  3. Maybe the old piston rings were soft? Needed harder ones for unleaded gas? Not sure why they would 'rebore' a cam shaft, though
  4. Sounds great to me... one of my dream oldies would a '71 LTD convertible...
  5. I have a friend in Colorado that's kind of at similar extremes, at least as far as gas mileage--he has a Prius for his 80 round trip mile commute, a Subaru Outback for the family car, and his new 40th birthday midlife crisis toy is a new black Challenger SRT8..saw it Friday, a pretty sweet car. Another friend (in Oakland, Ca) has a Prius for his daily driver and a '73 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon w/ a 460 for his weekend toy. Speaking of Eldos, I was driving to the airport in Denver yesterday and saw a white '73 Eldo convertible w/ the top down on the airport road...pretty sweet.
  6. midnight
  7. I bet it will be closer to $40k...
  8. Nice..saw an unrestored white w/ black vinyl top '73 or '74 Challenger today w/a patina of age..solid and straight, dull paint. It really stood out amongst the Accords, Camrys, and other generica of modern urban traffic.
  9. The next 2 weeks are going to be a wild ride, I think... I was back home in Colorado this weekend, talked w/ a lot of friends...it's pretty much neck and neck there...the amount of ads on TV are unreal..
  10. Palm Springs
  11. Speaking of old Mopies, there is a blue w/ black top '69-70 Chrysler 300 4dr ht I see on my daily commute...sitting in an alley beside a house on a busy, major street...looks like paint is faded, no idea if it's in running order..
  12. Today while walking at lunch, I saw 2 Challengers--a white w/ black top 73-74 in decent shape and an orange '08/09 SRT8...nice to see some real, RWD V8 cars amongst all the disposable FWD generics that one usually sees on a typical city street.
  13. That was good to see... I've long resepected him, he's always seemed to be a moderate. It's another sign that the neocon BS that the Republican party is dominated by is running out of gas.
  14. Yeah, not many...I've seen a few Chrysler Neons, 300s, and Sebring convertibles in Europe over the last few years...a lot of Jeeps, though...the old style XJ Cherokees, the Liberty (aka Cherokee), Wranglers, and a lot of Grand Cherokee Limiteds.
  15. I had a nice mini-vacation back home in Colorado this weekend..beautiful fall weather, aspens all gold and yellow around the Denver metro, blue skies, snow capped mountains in the distance. Good times w/ good friends...made me homesick and realize how much I hate Arizona...will most likely be moving back to Denver in '09. Probably going to take off the week between Xmas and New Years..probably go to San Diego.. Thinking about a real vacation (a week or more) in Spring...thinking about going to explore Seattle and Vancouver and the surrounding areas...
  16. I watched it last night on Larry King...it was pretty funny..
  17. bored
  18. Yeah, the BRIC (Brasil, Russia, India, and China) economies have been on the rise... though I'm wondering if Russia is heading backwards towards the Soviet days...
  19. Doesn't surprise me..there are a lot of nutters here. But Spanish will be the primary language in AZ within a few decades, though...
  20. I know a lot of techies that have Priuses also... because of it's high tech nature, it has high geek cred. We will see if the Volt has similar appeal w/ my demographic in a couple of years.
  21. Both CNG and LPG powered cars have been in the US for years, in fleets... I remember 20 years ago they were using Dodge Diplomats that were LPG (propane) powered in some Florida county police departments....
  22. I'm afraid I'll be long gone by then.
  23. The 20th century was the century of the American Empire. The question is who is going to dominate this century? China?
  24. The Prius is not about styling, or gas mileage...it's about being clean and green, and the image of that.
  25. Well, it's going to be out long before the Volt, so it's a moot point to compare them for a couple of years...
