  1. Yeah.... which is the lesser of two evils---merge with large layoffs following, or declare bankruptcy with large layoffs following? One article I saw today said that if GM declared bankruptcy next year, Ford and Chrysler would immediately follow..something about they'd have to be able to match GM's terms with labour or something to that effect.
  2. I wouldn't have voted for McCain anyway. I usually always vote Democratic, I just can't bring myself to support the Republicans.
  3. I couldn't see the point in having both a Tahoe and Traverse and an Acadia and Yukon on Lambda, they'd be redundant, since the Lambdas are as big as the GMT-900s are now..
  4. I know a number of people that had electrical problems with the Jettas from 2 generations back (the mid to late '90s). Probably was due to poor Mexican build quality.
  5. Saw $2.69 at a Chevron in central Phoenix this afternoon.
  6. It is pretty fascinating..when I was in Upstate NY about 10 years ago, I walked across a high trestle over a gorge at Letchworth State Park...beautiful place.
  7. A hybrid or electric tank could be very quiet and stealthy, though..
  8. Someone on the East Coast would probably think of Maine first.. Response to thread: Virage

  11. Probably something that is unknowable to mere mortals like ourselves...maybe it's a sign that only the illuminati or freemasons are meant to understand...
  12. Maybe the military will work with Toyota on building green tanks powered by Prius drivetrains..

  15. The Chrysler thing around '81 were loan guarantees that they paid back in full within a few years, IIRC.
  16. I'd rather be in Boulder than most anywhere in the US... damn, I miss Colorado. AZ is so boring..
  17. Some kind of railway sign I suppose.
  18. Not doing much for Halloween, going to miss out on the HW party I've gone to every year for the last 10 years in Denver..but I'm going to phone in for a while to say hi to my inebriated friends in suburbia...
  19. Yeah, the Enclave is only 0.2 inches shorter, same width, over 4 inches lower, wheelbase almost 3 inches longer than the Tahoe. The Tahoe just looks bigger because it's square and truckular, while the Enclave is curvy and sleeker.
  20. The thought of a nationalised auto industry made up of merged, failing companies reminds of what happened in the 1970s with British Leyland. And we all know how that company turned out... British Leyland
  21. A Palin presidency is something that has potential to be far worse than a Bush presidency. She's a scary, far-right evangelical nut job. If she were elected, I'd give up any hope for the future of US....an election of Palin would prove that the American people are fundamentally stupid.
  22. Portland
  23. RV
  24. Wow...that may be the ultimate B-pillar.
  25. I was there in March for an afternoon and evening...has a decent waterfront along the Ohio River..decent downtown.
