  1. Over the last week I've realized how much Toyota's logo resembles IBM Websphere's logo.... the Toyota logo, with a stylized T inside a circle, represents global domination, just like IBM.. and Websphere is a bloated POS of an app server.....so Toyota...
  2. I think it was more like (top down): Impala/Caprice (RWD) -> extinct Malibu (RWD) -> Celebrity -> Lumina -> Impala Nova (RWD) -> Citation -> Corsica/Beretta -> Malibu Corvair -> Vega -> Monza -> Cavalier -> Cobalt -> Cruze Chevette -> Spectrum & Metro -> Prizm & Metro -> Aveo
  3. As a Grand Cherokee owner and fan, I like the current Jeep lineup (except for the Compass), and am a fan of the LXes....yes, they could use better interiors, but they are the kind of cars I wish GM (and Ford) had been building this decade...modern, distinctly American RWD cars. The Viper is interesting, but I'd rather have a Corvette. The Ram is just another obese truck, nothing that would appeal to me.
  4. The market shift away from bloaties started quite a while before the 2008 gas price spike, though...
  5. It's been a while, but I was at a Festivus party several years ago and we watched Office Space and had a drink everytime a corporate buzzword was uttered (words like cubicle, synergy, process, etc). Another time we watch a couple of episodes of the Sopranos and took a drink everytime the F-word or variants was uttered.
  6. For some reason, hearing the name Cobalt always reminds me of the old-school programming language COBOL, or Sun Microsystems' line of Cobalt servers...
  7. I saw that also...what a great place to work for...
  8. Two things in favor of the name--it does start w/ 'C' like Chevrolet and like the two world wide leaders in the segment (Civic and Corolla), not that having a 'C' name in the C-segment is a necessity, just coincidence, I assume.
  9. Or if we go to war w/ Iran, it would be another money pit for the US like Afghanistan and Iraq have been, not to mention the human cost..
  10. Um, what 'reform' is needed today in the UK, Germany, France, Japan? (I know we have bases in Italy, not aware of any in France). Those countries are all in good shape...
  11. Yes, this is going to be messy... I have a lot of Jewish friends and work for a company founded by Israeli immigrants, so I've heard quite an earful lately about the Iran situation...
  12. Chill with the drama..there is still going to be a convertible Camaro, and I assume it will be available in SS form with the a V8..
  13. Yes, if GM had released Zeta-based models 3-4 years ago, they could have had a competitive window with Chrysler's LX platform...but in the new reality, I'm afraid the market for V8 RWD mainstream models is dying, along with BOF SUVs.
  14. Yeah, the Mazda6 went from offering a 4dr sedan, 5dr hatch and wagon in the US to just a 4dr sedan for the new model. Pretty lame, but that's the way it is currently...Americans seem to have an aversion to hatchbacks and wagons, though they are lighter, more efficient, and more drivable than CUVs.... Personally, if I had to drive a FWD compact or midsize, I'd rather have a hatchback or wagon over a sedan anyday..just more useful than a tiny trunk.
  15. I'm afraid it is..that is the core of the market, has been for over 20 years now.
  16. Yeah... it's not a car for long road trips, after all. (where would you recharge one other than at home?)
  17. Monza was a good name, but it was associated with sporty models, not sure how well that would fly on a generic.
  18. Chevy will probably call the Brazilian Chevy Montana 'El Camino' if they bring it here like PCS has been hinting at...
  19. Yes, not to mention the Vectra has a wagon version, and presumably the Insignia will also...
  20. The Corvette was probably seized from a habitutal DUI or other bad driver.... in Denver last year, they seized and crushed a worn-out '80s Chevy pickup from someone that had caused a ton of accidents (running red lights, running over pedestrians, etc).
  21. Cruze? Lame...but better than Chevy Lacetti....not better than Chevy Cobalt. I still like Chevy Generica, but that wouldn't play outside NA probably.
  22. Hmmm...went out for Chinese Friday night and lettuce wraps were about $8...dinner for 2 w/ wine was about $40...(but this was a good local place, not a chain).
  23. I wonder how bad the side visibility will be with the thick pillars and tiny windows, though...
  24. Hmm...the Chevy Montana from Brasil looks like it's based off of the previous gen Corsa, not the new one. Yawn.
