  1. Considering the worst CIC in history is in the White House now, BO will be a huge improvement.
  2. Yes, the current car is very distinctive...I esp. like the rear quarter view of the current car...has unique sculpturing. I thought seriously about buying one a couple of years ago, I love the interior and the way it drives.. The new car, at what I've seen so far, doesn't look as distinctive...
  3. Ugly front end, predictable roofline...seems everyone is copying the BMW kinked C-pillar. At least the current TL has it's own C-pillar...
  4. I like the headlight treatment..the light cluster shapes are very Acura-ish...
  5. I think they confused the LX with the LHes, which came out about 15 years ago...
  6. Sharp car...love the wheels.
  7. Good post...the Industrial Age in the US has been winding down for sometime, as the Information Age has been on the ascendency... the Information Age/Internet era/world of technology is the only one I've worked in and known, so I've been part of it for over a decade and grown with it. Unfortunately, a major transition like this (not just the US, but world wide) has many downsides..
  8. Hmmm..I'm flying USAirways from Phoenix to Ft. Lauderdale next week... I'm taking my iPod, Mac Book, and a couple paperbacks..
  9. He seems moderate, though he's been cozying up to the nutjobs lately..(the intolerant evangelical lunatics).
  10. It's a dying market for GM; being a big multinational, they are focusing their investments on growth markets.
  11. I've wondered before if a NAU (North American Union, like the EU) would work...unify the money, laws, etc between Canada, the US and Mexico, make English, French, and Spanish the official languages and Futbol, Football, and Hockey the official sports... Would help reduce the illegal immigration problem in the US..
  12. I'm optimistic that an Obama presidency would be better for the US than the same old same old neocon BS from McCain..
  13. Interesting factoid: GM has already used the name before on the Holden Cruze (Aus) and Chevy Cruze (Japan), both rebadged Suzuki Ignis
  14. All RWD would be fine for a niche brand like Pontiac... GM has enough FWD generics in Chevrolet and Saturn to keep Avis happy...
  15. Over the last week I've realized how much Toyota's logo resembles IBM Websphere's logo.... the Toyota logo, with a stylized T inside a circle, represents global domination, just like IBM.. and Websphere is a bloated POS of an app server.....so Toyota...
  16. I think it was more like (top down): Impala/Caprice (RWD) -> extinct Malibu (RWD) -> Celebrity -> Lumina -> Impala Nova (RWD) -> Citation -> Corsica/Beretta -> Malibu Corvair -> Vega -> Monza -> Cavalier -> Cobalt -> Cruze Chevette -> Spectrum & Metro -> Prizm & Metro -> Aveo
  17. As a Grand Cherokee owner and fan, I like the current Jeep lineup (except for the Compass), and am a fan of the LXes....yes, they could use better interiors, but they are the kind of cars I wish GM (and Ford) had been building this decade...modern, distinctly American RWD cars. The Viper is interesting, but I'd rather have a Corvette. The Ram is just another obese truck, nothing that would appeal to me.
  18. The market shift away from bloaties started quite a while before the 2008 gas price spike, though...
  19. It's been a while, but I was at a Festivus party several years ago and we watched Office Space and had a drink everytime a corporate buzzword was uttered (words like cubicle, synergy, process, etc). Another time we watch a couple of episodes of the Sopranos and took a drink everytime the F-word or variants was uttered.
  20. For some reason, hearing the name Cobalt always reminds me of the old-school programming language COBOL, or Sun Microsystems' line of Cobalt servers...
  21. I saw that also...what a great place to work for...
  22. Two things in favor of the name--it does start w/ 'C' like Chevrolet and like the two world wide leaders in the segment (Civic and Corolla), not that having a 'C' name in the C-segment is a necessity, just coincidence, I assume.
  23. Or if we go to war w/ Iran, it would be another money pit for the US like Afghanistan and Iraq have been, not to mention the human cost..
  24. Um, what 'reform' is needed today in the UK, Germany, France, Japan? (I know we have bases in Italy, not aware of any in France). Those countries are all in good shape...
  25. Yes, this is going to be messy... I have a lot of Jewish friends and work for a company founded by Israeli immigrants, so I've heard quite an earful lately about the Iran situation...
