  1. Went to play softball in Scottsdale w/ the company team tonight...sitting in the lot at the field was a gorgeous maroon '68 Camaro RS convertible, top down, parked next to a late model SL 65 AMG, top down also. Later, at the pub, I saw a black '69 GTO in the lot. Sweet.
  2. One thing Saturn did do, though, at least in the '90s, was attract customers that would never have considered GM in the first place...I've read they did manage to get a fair number of potential Honda or Toyota customers that would never consider Chevy (considering the dreck Chevy had for FWD models back then, that would be understandable).
  3. Not to change the thread, but what is sad is that the only person that I know that owns Pontiac--ANY Pontiac (he owns old ones ('60s-70s GTOs) and newer ones ('02 T/A, '06 GTO)) is north of 50. My peers--both in Colorado and here in Arizona, with the exception of some SUVs, overwhelmingly drive import brands..my team at my new company, all mid 20s to late 30s, about 1/2 single or DINKs, 1/2 MWC, drive a Toyota Matrix, Toyota Tundra crew cab, 2 '07 BMW 3-series, a Civic, a Camry, 1 '07 Infiniti G35, and 1 '07 Infiniti G37..with my Jeep, I'm the only one driving domestic...that's been typical at the last 3 companies I've worked at.
  4. mate
  5. Yeah, not the most reliable source...but if you consider all of PCS's ominious hints over the years (assuming he's not spreading disinformation, which he may well be), well, where there is smoke...
  6. What is this 'Omega'? Yet another rumoured new platform? First I've heard of it..
  7. Weak sauce. The 3-series has a convertible. the CLK has a convertible. A G37 convertible is rumoured. An A5 convertible is coming. GM needs to get their sh*t together and develop a CTS convertible.
  8. if so.... by 2012, it will probably be Buick-Saturn-GMC. Sad, but inevitable at this point? (if the decision has already been made...).
  9. It's part of PCS's master plan to phase out Pontiac, I think...the 2nd gen G6 hasn't been announced, the Torrent will be replaced by the GMC Terrain, the G5 is just a Cobalt rebadge, and if the G8 lasts 3-4 years, then what next?
  10. Probably the contracts w/ the unions are such that they can't layoff everyone and then turn around and hire nonunion labour for the same positions...i.e. massive cost and lawsuit potential..
  11. Yep...I know several guys with legit, tweaked Japanese performance cars (NSXes, gray-market Skyline GT-Rs, Supra Turbos, 350Zs) that laugh at the ricer crapola...
  12. I think no Alpha to Pontiac is because there probably won't be a Pontiac in BPG within 5 years..
  13. It's amazing the amount of money people pour into junk...trying to turn a 'sows ear into a silk purse', to use an old timey phrase...
  14. I had 91 in Colorado...85, 87, 91. Not sure if they have it here in Arizona (I'm using 87).
  15. And Gen X is small, numerically, compared to the boomers and millenials.. Gen Xers have done a lot of interesting things, look at the successful companies started by Xers (Google, Yahoo, to name a couple). My own family is unusual...born in '70, I'm an Xer, but my sister (1957) and brother (1949) are boomers, while my folks were of the depression/WWII generation (1920,1930).
  16. Watch it there kiddo, he's only a year older than me... Gen X rules
  17. Yes, I love their 6s....I miss my M3..
  18. Speaking of giant shovels and draglines...I remember as a kid in Ohio in the '70s going to see the Big Muskie...looks like it was dismantled in '99...I found a website about it.. Big Muskie
  19. It looks minor..nothing that a little duct tape can't fix...
  20. That would be unusual... anyway, with the congestion and traffic, 80+ is realistically only possible in the US between metro areas on 75mph freeways.
  21. I suspect 60-70% of GM's product line probably had less than 138hp (and was heavier) 20 years ago... 138hp in a compact hatchback is sufficient.
  22. Whatever...in the reality of 75 mph freeways in many Western states, driving at a constant 80 mph is not unusual...I did it all the time in Colorado.
  23. True, but the CTS-v is really an anomaly...luxury car buyers in general expect a modern OHC engine in a luxury car. If GM is going to try and seriously compete in the big leagues for regular luxury cars, they need a modern OHC V8...
  24. humor (and esp. humour) is difficult to convey in a text only context....
