    More information about "Ford Retreats from Russia"
    Ford will exit Russia's passenger car market and focus solely on the light commercial vehicle market says a report from Bloomberg. Alligned with those moves, Ford will cease production in the country at two vehicle assembly plants. Those plants will close by the end of June 2019. Ford produces the Focus, Mondeo, Fiesta, and Ecosport in Russia. These cuts will cause significant job losses for Russia. This move comes after Ford announced as many as 6,000 job cuts in Germany and the UK and cut jobs at a transmission factory in France. Honda, Nissan, and BMW have all recently announced cuts or closures in European operations. Related:

    There are industrial cutbacks all over. China economy is slowing, automakers are pulling back manufacturing all over the place... expect more stories on that front.

    It's taking longer than I thought to get here, but yes. I expected it by the fall of 2018. There are plenty of indicators that something is brewing, but unemployment remains low for now without an increase in real wages, which is a good thing economically. Eventually, it's just a cycle and it will come time for a recession to hit. Either way, it won't be as bad as the last one we were in.

    I didn't say otherwise. ICE is the more financially competitive option as long as gas prices stay low. Battery prices would have to fall that much further just to keep up.

    I vote Fiat, Alfa, Lancia. Combine Renault and Nissan into a simple rebadge brand (based off Renaults). Nissan can use rebodied Rams for the truck and SUVs. Keep the Z and the GTR. Dunno what to do with Mitsubishi... it doesn't do well in the US but it sells in emerging markets. Maybe convert it to Datsun and kill it in the US.

    well yes... but it was in reference to Lincoln using nautical and aeronautical terms for its naming scheme.

    There's also the issue of oil prices dropping ahead of another recession that will keep ICE competitive longer.

    I vary on oil changes. Sometimes I do it myself, sometimes I take it to a shop. It usually just depends on the weather and on how busy I am. If I use the dealership, sometimes I just drive it down myself and work from there because even though I have pickup and dropoff, getting that setup can sometimes be a scheduling issue. When it works though, it works nice.

    I think it has a great looking profile. Even though we know it's not RWD, it looks like it could be.

    That much I don't know. I know that Sergio was their designated spokesman and he largely did what they wanted, which was expand the Italian brands.

    the Agnelli Family is the only reason Fiat (the brand) is still alive today.

    Lincoln has released a teaser video and picture to generate some buzz head of the NY International Auto Show in 3 weeks. The Lincoln Corsair will take over for the Lincoln MKC when it goes on sale late this year. Two of the engine options will carry over, the 2.0T and 2.3T ecoboost 4-cylinders, but a plug-in hybrid variant will bow in as well. The Corsair fills in the entry level of Lincoln's SUV lineup, but if it is anything like the Aviator and Navigator, it will greatly up the ante on interior appointments and luxury. Corsair is a nod to the nautical and aviation naming theme that Lincoln is using for its SUVS. Corsair is unique in that is has been used both for boats and planes. View full article
