  4. UPS uses some electric van I don't recognize in downtown Pittsburgh for deliveries. USPS uses fleets of Promasters. Fedex is mainly Sprinters or Transits. The Sprinters don't seem to hold up against rust, though that's not a powertrain deficiency.

  6. That's a bit of a mirage. The lithium ion batteries are still susceptible to damage when charging fast if they keep charging fast over 90% capacity. It's not that charging fast kills them, it's that charging fast when they're close to full capacity kills them. That has always been the case. The difference now is that the chargers can communicate with the battery and automagically slow the flow of electricity as the battery nears full capacity. This is why cars like the Bolt can add 90 mile of range in 30 minutes, but a full charge take longer than just multiplying that out. From this blog, you can see that the Bolt starts to automatically regulate the down the flow of energy at 50% capacity and again at 70% capacity. It is highly likely that Tesla will be doing the same thing here and the 1,000 miles of range in 60 minutes is an "Up to" and "under ideal conditions" type of rating. Not everyone will see that unless their battery pack is at 1% and it is a 68 degree day.
  7. Yea, it makes me wonder what they're going to do in order to add AWD. They already don't have stow-n-go on the Hybrid model, so maybe they're modifying that one into having AWD.
  8. The looks are growing on me too.... I'm just disappointed with the interior. It's not up to the level of design sophistication as the Aviator is... even if you don't like the styling of the Aviator's interior, it is a much more complex and interesting design to look at. The XT6 is rather generic.
  9. It can. Tesla and GM alter their charging rate as the battery gets full. Over 90% capacity and the charging rate slows down in order to prevent damage. As noted above, the Tesla will also now pre-warm their battery when it detects via the navigation system that it is on its way to a supercharger. This will allow the battery to accept a charge more rapidly.

There are only five mini-vans left on the market, and only one of those has all-wheel drive optional, the Toyota Sienna. That stat could be changing if rumors about the Chrysler Pacifica prove true. According to Automotive News, Chrysler is hard at work on an AWD option for the Pacifica. While not officially confirmed by Chrysler, the union chief for the Windsor plant where Pacifica is built appears to have spilled the beans. If AWD does come to the Pacifica, it may not be until the 2021 model year. Adding AWD would be likely help to boost sales in the North East US and in Canada. Chrysler moved 118k Pacificas in 2018 vs. 151k Dodge Caravans which sell at a lower price. Combined, the two minivans are 56% of the total minivan market. View full article

When the Cadillac XT6 hits dealership later in couple months, that line in the sand will fall by over $20k. Cadillac will begin taking orders on the XT6 later this month with a base price starting at $53,690. That gets you a front-wheel drive Premium Luxury model. The XT6 Sport with standard all-wheel drive starts at $58,090 (including destination charge for both). All XT6 models are powered by a 3.6 liter V6 producing 310 hp and a 9-speed automatic transmission shifting power to the wheels. Active fuel management and Start/Stop are standard.   14. Because most of the work is already being done for their other EV pursuits and why not make an option for customers who have a very specific use profile. This isn't going to be the answer for every Joe the Plumber out there, but there is a market for it for local delivery, hotel shuttles, and similar. They already have the body shell, they already have the power train in development. Put the two together.
  15. V6 engines are smoother and have better power delivery characteristics, no lag waiting for turbos to spool. In GM's case, the v6 can also run in 4 cylinder mode at highway speeds.

As Polestar is still a Volvo at heart, it will benefit from Volvo's safety know-how, but it won't pursue a safety image like Volvo has.   21. I mean I do... I have to from time to time. They don't have natural keyboards on laptops. I just type better on a natural keyboard. Both my home setup and work setup have the same keyboard as you though.
