Rumorpile: Maserati Levante Passes On Grand Cherokee As A Base :Comments
It's strange that they'd do that. The Grand Cherokee platform is a bit newer. Upon close inspection, the Ghibli's platform is clearly a modified LX body... it's got a shorter trunk and a longer nose... but most of the hardpoints are identical. So... we'd get the first LX based SUV and it would come from Maserati? Interesting times indeed.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Answers The "How Can We Get You Into An ELR" Question
HVAC controls that rattle like a used fisher price toy, cheap feeling plastic buttons (though the response of the buttons is nice), low rent gauges unless stepping up to super high end models, awkward layout of controls (direct quote from Albert during our week in a GL350 - "Sure it's a Mercedes, but why does it feel so clunky to use?!")

I knew it!
Even the base model Bonneville was enough to stand apart from its platform mates all the way up to the end. My mother had a '94 Bonneville and loved it... wouldn't be caught dead driving a LeSabre or Eighty Eight..... Grandmother had a '93 Park Ave.... there's no way you could convince either woman that they were the "same car" under the skin.... Mom would never drive "Gram's car"

G8, Solstice, Firebird, Fiero, Grand Prix GTP/Comp-G, even Bonneville GXP... all perfectly good examples of performance oriented cars.

GM News: Rumorpile: General Motors Joins The Aluminum Truck Brigade
"to supply for 20XX" - it could be any coming vehicle... not just trucks. GM has been using various aluminium panels in cars for years. The last Riviera had an aluminium hood and I believe both Auroras did too. There is still a LOT in GM's product pipeline yet to be revealed... the product onslaught from them so far and into the future (that is, the shear volume of new models) is really impressive for a company that just went through BK. The truck and SUV lineup is pretty much all new. They have 2 new small crossovers and 3 just refreshed large crossovers. New Impala, new Lacrosse, new Regal, new Malibu, new ATS and CTS, relatively fresh XTS. New corvette, refresh Camaro. Even the stuff I would consider old is still pretty new at this point.... Sonic, Cruze, Verano, Equinox/Terrain, SRX, Volt. It's really something that the Cruze and Volt are the two oldest vehicles in the GM lineup. (not counting fleet stuff like vans, captiva, and impala classic)

FEBRUARY 2014 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!
This is related to my recent disappearance. I won't say how... I was yelled at by security for even taking the pictures. Edit: I'll ask that you don't share the source all over.... it could have...repercussions.

Sadly... I agree. Could Pontiac have been saved? Maybe... but the cost of failure could have meant the failure of all of GM. Saab should have been folded into Opel and the Chevy decision to pull out of Europe should have been made at BK day.

For $8K, which should I get?
Yours is a different style (the more reliable of the two). The Aurora uses standard rate metal springs with air adjustable shocks. The Buick Rainier (and Oldsmobile Bravada and Saab 9-7x and Others?!) use a rubber airbag and a standard shock. This is the setup in the Lincolns that you see kneeling low all the time. There is a lot of fear surrounding the airbag suspensions, but even a shade tree mechanic can repair them on his own.... the airbags are actually easier to replace than standard metal springs. If I owned one of these and the airbag went out, I would not replace it with the metal spring as Ocn suggested because the replacement is relatively easy and I could do it on my own. I would not want the sacrifice in ride quality that comes with the shift to metal.
