  1. Well, once I get some of the rest of my life under control (I know, I've been saying that forever, but I'm getting closer) then I will be able to get some more time at the gym.
  2. Well, my diet seems to have worked even without any additional exercise. I officially hit over 10 lbs lost since ~December 20th at today's weigh in.
  3. Is this on a BMW?
  4. Try swimming. I hate running, but I'll blade or bike or ski.
  5. Truck from Arizona, Interior from NJ.... problem solved!
  6. No more than draining the oil during an oil change does... The site specifically recommends using oil that has been run more than 1000 miles, 3000 miles and up is best. They have a phone number for you to call so you can discuss your goals with the oil test.
  7. Unfortunately, you want one of these trucks from Texas and not NJ. That way they are less likely to have the rust holes.
  8. Sorry about the long delay to approve your posts. I don't get a notification that you made one, so I only see it if I stumble on it. Perhaps you'll consider signing up? We've got a decent bunch here.
  9. sure, I'm free after 5:30 Have you thought about sending out a sample of the oil and sludge to be tested? (Edmund's recommended this place)
  10. Heard multiple sources debunking that already (including a long piece on NPR just today). As long as you keep the metabolism going, even with reduced calorie intake you won't enter starvation mode. t takes over 6 weeks for "starvation mode" to kick in and at much lower calorie levels. Basically, snack often and snack small. Keep overall calorie count down.
  11. Cheers to this whole post.
  12. I used to be a heavy soda drinker (Dr. Pepper is my weakness) and I hate the taste of diet soda.... actually anything with artificial low-cal/no-cal sweetener is out as I can't stand the taste. I would rather just drink less of the real sugar than any of the fake stuff. I have an app on my phone called Noom that I use to track my food intake and it also gives daily tips for changing your diet, and if I worked out, it would track that too. Albert has the same app, but it doesn't seem to have as much on the iPhone side as I have on the Android side. I tend to drop a whole bunch of pounds very quickly at first without much effort and then I have to start working out to get the rest. I'm down 7lbs since the week of Xmas. I told Albert we're going on the Mediterranean diet (he doesn't need to).. it's the one diet we can both agree on since for him it contains red wine and for me it has feta cheese. :-P
  13. Nice to see they finally made their 2.0t competitive with GM's from 8 years ago. I'm not so sure about the NVH of a 1.8T running on 2 cylinders, but I guess VW figures that since people bought the 5-cylinder 2.5, so they'll put up with anything.
  14. It's that time of year again, are any of you starting any new diet or fitness plans? I actually started a rather drastic cutback on calories before the Christmas holiday, cheating only on the Xmas day and New Years Eve. At 5'10" in height, 180lbs is the limit I let myself get to before I start actively dieting.... only this year, I went over that before the holiday and I have to fit in a suit next week. I normally run 165 - 170 lbs. I cut my calorie intake from 2500 - 3000 per day down to a strict 1500 per day. I've tried to make time to hit the gym, but it simply isn't happening right now. How about you... making any changes for the new year?
  15. If it was a 70" TV, I can see the purpose of a curved screen.... anything less than that and what is the point?
  16. No, a compression test will not void a warranty. Expanded on the magnet/oil pan idea, you can often find an aftermarket magnetic oil pan plug (a quick google tells me that GM initially installed magnetic drain plugs on corvettes but then stopped producing the part)
  17. ... and back to the technology....
  18. Didn't Ford have a similar issue with the ecoboost?
  19. First of the predator mouth grille adorned cars that I think looks good.
  20. I hadn't seen that about transistor count, but the number of transistors doesn't matter if isn't reflected in the performance numbers. My car has twice the number of cylinders as a Buick Regal GS... but guess which car is faster.
  21. don't post it publicly just yet
  22. A 36k sticker is pretty close to base on the Genesis sedan. You're not going to get most of those features on any model that bases at that price.
  23. 'splain please?
  24. When is that letter dated and would you mind scanning me a copy?
