The 3.6 can't make that much power in transverse layout and it would be a shame to drop the very nicely refined 2.5 they currently have.

Just a reminder that Alpha can go smaller than the ATS... such a car would most likely be 4-cylinder only, but I would imagine turbos being available.

2 Cadillac sedans, possibly a Cadillac concept coupe (platform wasn't defined). We're 99% certain Camaro is going on it, Cadillac is getting at least an ATS coupe the mules have already been spied, Buick is probably getting a coupe, and if the Caprice survives, it will probably ride on that too. That's Sedan/Coupe/Convertible (Camaro) right there. The expansion of Opel in Europe even allows for the potential for wagons.

GM has done this with plenty of things and we've moved on. Can we move on over Zeta now that a superior platform has supplanted it?

That may well be, but it hardly excuses wasting an entire generation of very good RWD cars. So many lost opportunities. The problem was, and always has been, building them in the US. Was there enough demand to warrant a second Zeta factory in the US? GM thought not. In essence, Sigma and Zeta got consolidated into one better platform rather than running with two. It makes business sense today to simply not continue with Zeta production after the current cars wind down. The current cars will run another 5 years... plenty of time to build up replacements on Alpha or even Alpha 2.

It will be interesting to see what GM does with Alpha going forward, outside of Cadillac. I assume the next Camaro. I do wonder if there is room in Chevy's lineup of vanilla FWD appliances for a RWD sports sedan, though. Could be a Buick RWD coupe as well, I'd expect it to wear the Riviera badge. It would be a nice high end companion to a Verano convertible, Opel Cascada, that is highly likely coming here. The SS, if it survives, would likely be rebuilt on Alfa. As the middle east really likes the RWD Caprice/Lumina and they sell the Caprice PPV here, I put the chance of the SS surviving at about 50%.

The Alpha platform is now better. The CTS is the size of the G8 now and much much lighter. Even with all the Cadillac fluff adding to the heft, it's a good 200 - 300 lbs lighter. Comparing V6 to V6

She started at GM at 18, building engines on the Iron Duke line..... she knows how to get her hands dirty... She's much more a "Car Gal" than Akerson ever was a "Car Guy" (though that isn't hard, since he was zero Car Guy)

Welcome back Tyran. I think there is a lot of armchair judging of the car going on. No one here has driving it yet... and I'm betting I'm one of only 2 here that have actually even sat in it.

Sales: Notes From The Numbers - Luxury Edition

Cadillac has 8-speeds in the CTS. And they have that FWD 7-speed DCT GM filed a patent for -
The biggest evidence that not all at Ford is what it appears to be: The failure to do anything with Lincoln. The Government will get far more back than that loss in the long run via income taxes from employees of a living GM, its dealerships, its suppliers, and so on. Had we let GM fail, the loss to the taxpayers and throughout the economy would have been far greater than $10 billion.

Really? I wonder what I saw under the hood of one then when I was jump starting it. Friend of a friend has an unusual love for them Edit: I always thought of them as the natural Chrysler competitor to the Pontiac Bonneville. Big, but still sporty and youthful. The Intrepid of that vintage would have been equivalent to the Eighty Eight, austere looking, but still capable and comfortable, and the Concord/LHS would be like the LeSabre/Park Ave respectively.

Sales: Notes From The Numbers - Luxury Edition

Volvo is trying to nudge prices up. Slower sales will be a result of that. I thought I was pretty clear in my intro paragraph that I was attempting to address the deception of percentages. Cadillac is the one brand with the most growth potential in the near term because they have the most core products coming online soon. The 2014 CTS really won't take off for another month or two, then we'll get Escalade, ATS coupe, plus whatever else Cadillac has up their sleeves. -
I would have liked to see MR there, but this isn't a bad move either. Clearly MR is also being groomed for the position.

Sales: Notes From The Numbers - Luxury Edition

The 300 is a luxury car... Do you guys think I should have included Buick? Except the Verano and Encore, most of their cars sticker predominatnly over $30. Even the Regal which is under $30k MSRP for the most basic model heads north of that as soon as the destination charge is added. -
Anyone use Nitrogen in their Tires?
Drew Dowdell replied to Rvinyl.com's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
From what I understand, Costco only uses nitrogen to inflate tires there. I am a big advocate of Costco for tire service. Unless you need some sort of specialty racing tire, they'll probably have a good tire for you. In addition to the standard mount/balance, they include road hazard warranty, nitrogen inflation, and free rotation/re-balance for every tire they sell. They are also really good about the tread life warranty. I just had tires put on my CR-V on Saturday. I only got 33,000 miles out of an 80,000 mile tread life warranty and because I had proof with Costco that they had been maintained/balanced/rotated properly, They gave me $56 back per tire towards the purchase of a new set. My new tires have a 90,000 mile tread life warranty, but the car will be sold well before I cover even 1/4 of that distance. -
Anyone use Nitrogen in their Tires?
Drew Dowdell replied to Rvinyl.com's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
It's not just the weight, it is the "closeness" of the atoms in the molecule. So while the N2 molecules might weigh less, they are physically larger. I use N2 in my tires, but only incidentally. I don't seek out N2, but since I have my tires installed and maintained by Costco, I end up with N2 in all of my tires anyway. I do notice I can go longer between re-inflations, typically all the way to my 5k tire rotations during which Costco checks the pressure and re-inflates as needed anyway. -
