  1. Oh yes, they DO...DTS's and CTS's are the most common, but there have also been a handful of SRX's and STS's out there. It's a unique color that they reformulate every so often, either whiter or pinker--the current one based a lot on GM's White Diamond, sort of. A few years back, just out of the blue, and even on a back road I passed a brand new '05 STS V8 (FULLY decked out, top tier model) painted in the famous pink. That was the only other "in person" MK Cadillac I've seen, aside from Deville's and DTS's. Then when they're done and off lease, turned back in to GM, decently repainted white, and pumped back through the auctions as everyday used white Cadillacs...with some interesting things in the crevices. I know someone who bought an ex DTS cheaply because of it, and he detailed the specifics on what he could still see--but otherwise, undetectable unless up close. Come to think of it...I haven't seen an MK car in a long, long time.
  2. ANOTHER new MKS with a canvas top... This time a dark cherry one, with the top a sort of camel to match the interior. Geez. Enough is enough already, old people with bad taste around here...and a dealer who will gladly accomodate it. At least the GM dealer, for all intensive purposes, discourages such things and never voluntarily adds any extras on their own. Worse? I think this same MKS (old lady/guy driven, of course) also had a chrome trunk luggage rack...or I was just so horrified again, I imagined it. Don't think so.
  3. I continually think optimistically about deadlines and being able to meet them, no sweat, but every time it's the same story...takes me a lot longer than I always think to get things to the point they need to be, and we end up last minute pushing things off a bit again. Re-developing construction plans for 8 homes, when they already have existed for 2 versions and many custom iterations, for a new V3 community rollout is el-stinko with 1) all AutoCAD and 2) the last person who developed, maintained, and "fixed" the files was a boob who just made more of a mess than he was worth. However... On a good note, I did learn last week that you can very pleasantly drive a G8 GT with 19" Summer tires in any conditions, including snow and ice. I worried, slightly, but just take it easy and traction felt no different than any other car/tire I've had on ice...just a lot more balanced in overall, though, which is great. I just wish I never had to subject it to such mess...
  4. Seems like a repeat, except possibly for a 5 minute update like before.
  5. Oh god...not that deer explosion in the TB! Every time...ikes. Speed + a deer standing, jumping, etc. = a big mess waiting to happen, every time.
  6. I've never been a big fan of that gen of Camaros/Firebirds...but I like that, I really like that
  7. Precisely. What a shame :AH-HA_wink: But I manage, daily. It's rough, I tell you, rough. P.S., To whoever said it, the "weirdness" is toast after a drive or two, depending on how long you've been used to NA GM vehicles, and all the shared parts. It's just a little different, in a fun way.
  8. People, at least those who know the cars, often do that...actually, that's more common by a long shot than "Seville" and then which trim. Though there were both Seville SLS and STS trims, the STS is the only one people ever talk about, and it became so well known, soon it was just referred to as STS alone. It has quite a following, and a big one, both the last gen and the '92-97 gen that were really loved as the original STS. So, the current/new gen with just those letters works well, at least in name.
  9. You know, having thought about the "legitimizing" thing, the G8 DOES that for me. I really feel like "the $h!" in this car, and that was a factor beyond the physical attributes of the car, that makes it work even more for me. Just like the lightly dressed up Fleetwood used to;-) Every time I'm in the G8, just like my Fleetwood, I have that burning feel people are watching (they are), and more so, it just feels good to have such a cool car. This isn't to degrade my ex G6 or Malibu at all (the G6, believe it or not, used to get gawks and even random good questions/comments), but it's just at a different level. Back on topic...
  10. The looks, the solidity, the interior size and comfort, the powertrain and suspension (crazy power but in an almost silent way, and even with 40 series 19" wheels, it has the smoothest, most "hovercraft" like ride of any vehicle I've been in, in a while), and it just seems special. I don't see myself everywhere, and it gets looks. It feels like a rolling bank vault on the road, rides like a hovercraft, handles and accelerates like a Vette, and has the room and comfort of a very large luxury sedan--the latter is especially impressive. Awesome, awesome seats, space, etc. to go with the dynamics. It has nothing to do with legitimizing me, but like the lightly custom '95 Cadillac Fleetwood I had for a few years to start it all off, it's an awesome RWD, V8 daily driver that gives a good show, can race, can handle, etc. and still also putter along the highway getting quite good mpg's. I guess it's hard to explain it, but like most who have one, it's just the total package--and a package at a price nothing else can match. The Charger is the closest competitor, but just isn't the same. It just fits my wants and needs in a car, aspects that I know more clearly after 2 interim cars that simply didn't (the G6 and Malibu). And it makes me smile, a lot, to the extent that I spent 2 sunny days over the weekend giving it the first full detail it really needed, installing a new intake, etc. and I wanted to do more. Taking my brother for a first ride afterwards, half to full throttle in sport mode, with his speechless smile (and that's hard to get, ever) it's a blast, and a practical, relatively efficient one at that. I promise I'll get a thread about my purchase of it elsewhere soon, and we'll continue to G8 chat. Thread jack over :AH-HA_wink:
  11. I had to respond to this, at least G8 related. You know why? It's a HUGE car, front and rear with room galore, but even in power form, for whatever reason, the front passenger's seat is set to only go back and down so far...and it isn't much. It's strange, especially to those of us that have them, but alas. Not that the seat is cramped and there's still room galore, but it's different in comparison to the driver's seat you can move much further down and back. Oh well. So true...I've never "liked" the GMT-355's, but the first '09s I saw last year fresh off the truck had me doing a double take. The revised trim, colors, and wheels made a big difference, on what was already a generally good looking but plebian (well, in many trims) package. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTHERWISE...I don't know. Despite my record 4 GM vehicles in a row, in 7 months nonetheless, I still prefer them but I'm open minded to anything and everything. I'd have to adapt, I guess, to something. Or I'd just find a way to buy another new G8 and keep it in storage :AH-HA_wink: Never, ever, ever have I liked a car this much, in so many ways.
  12. Sounds good, Roger, sounds good :AH-HA_wink:
  13. Wow, looks great. I think my brother would be jealous...the interior does look better, as he said. Still clearly the same core, but the console and such in that one helps it hugely. A lower price is always a good thing, but think about it and do what seems right for you. No rush, as obviously it isn't publically for sale and he doesn't seem into rushing you to take it off his hands, so find a mechanic, keep the line of chatting either by email or phone ongoing, and see where it does. Sometimes just continued interest and inquiries, over time, will let the price relax, etc. a bit. But yes, definitely a nice car. Not something I'd put 12k miles on a year and drive daily, which is a consideration, but a very nice car.
  14. If only it were one of those loaded up, AWD models :AH-HA_wink:
  15. Exactly my thought...I saw that today, and just thought I'd post it given the 300M+damaged for cheap thought.
  16. It's definitely a nice car, and if you could get it for a nice cash price and maybe even a beater (hey, seriously, ask about the 6000...3 Pontiacs would be great!), why not. Certainly not a car you'll run upon, especially with the specs, everyday.
  17. There's one here in Delaware with some driver's door and fender damage for $750 on Craigslist, local. Has some miles, though, so something like this wouldn't be worth it really. Looks JUST like the '00 M we had for 18k miles some years ago... http://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/1063551611.html You'll find a good swap for a good price, before long, somewhere.
  18. Hell, in the last 7 months, a Fleetwood, a G6, a Malibu, and the G8. However sad, thankfully only the Fleetwood had a mishap... As I've not posted elsewhere, my new sig seems to continue thread jacking;-) But hey, after the Fleetwood above, I NEEDED that GM V8 RWD feeling again...otherwise, it just felt like I was in someone else's rental, daily.
  19. Sounds good. I showed the pics to my '86 Regal LTD driving (he LOVES these cars) brother, and told him a bit of the rundown, and he said a couple grand. But, this is also the person who thinks a lot of cars should be $2 or $3, honestly. Though he also didn't think making something like this your new daily driver was a good idea, either, and that's exactly what his Regal is for--it has a bit less miles but is in great need of a complete engine overhaul, for the oh so great ancient 307. He did also say that "the Pontiacs had really nice interiors", but didn't explain further. I can't imagine too much is different. But really, why not, if you have a garage and such. A car is a car, and not useful unless driven. $3k cash would be good, I think. Interesting car find and then turn of events, ey?
  20. Here was my poor Cadillac from October '07...seriously, from the impact with the corner of a plastic bumper cover on a Subaru Outback I DID (well, somehow), thought "it would buff right out". The impact, as I was moving forward relatively slowly but impacted on the side felt exactly like a bumper car jostle...until I kept moving forward and heard air coming in the side of the car. Real cars made of metal don't, uh, bump off one another as easily. Subaru plastic bumper cover vs. the side of a Cadillac tank = peeled like an orange at 25mph... Thankfully, somehow, by an act of God, after the wreck I then found someone nearby in PA when I was in school who was parting out TWO Fleetwoods...he got me every single itty bitty and large piece I needed (quarter panel and doors, to the chrome trim), and I delivered the car and the parts to the shop my brother works at. A little blue and red, with parts from another '93 and a '96 mixed in...but well on the way: A month later, wa-la: It now resides happily and garaged with a guy in the Chicago suburbs, so at least this smash up had a happy ending. And, in large part, thanks to the guy in PA I randomly found while searching Ebay, who was the saving grace in fix vs. salvage, with all the parts for cheap.
  21. Nothing cool or special, but a very good choice nonetheless--sounds like he got what he wanted. Should go for a very long time, with little in the way of problems. Actually, he's now up to 485k, at least as of 02/09, and still counting;) Unless something more has changed, he replaced the trans with a salvage one at about the halfway point to now and at the end of last year replaced the engine with a salvage one after 444k. Seems incredible, but all true, and certainly the highest mileage M anywhere.
  22. Maybe a 3rd option will pop up and be better than both of them so far...lower miles, the right powertrain, good condition, etc. You never know I understand the "it's gotta go" feeling, even if I have only been driving, uh, new cars for the past 7 or so months. Sometimes even they HAVE to go, as well.
  23. Hey, tough as nails doesn't even begin to describe those cars...not too unusual, even 2 decades past new in some cases. Beastly but, still, in most ways pretty refined for the dinosaur bones and the later LT1 cars were splendid. I often have wondered what the B/D cars would have been like had they hung around and been updated somewhat like the Crown Vic & Town Car have, with more solid frames, refined suspensions, updated interiors, etc. I was just chatting with my father on Friday, as he still has 1 of 3 with a '93 Fleetwood, and he remarked how he really has not been seeing much of any B/D cars anywhere, anymore. I concurred, as when I do notice them, they certainly standout more now. That reminds me...went to Wal-Mart in Rehoboth and, having parked far out in the lot, there were 3 '93-96 Fleetwoods in the lot, in 2 rows, all at once. What a sight.
  24. I have a desk exactly like that...did you start with a store desk and cut portions off of it? Mine was almost identical, just with more "desk" space towards the back, rounded and angled. A Wal-Mart special, of course. I bought it for compact size but then had to get rid of it because I couldn't stand not being able to put my feet out under it on the floor.
