Tonite on Woodward

Recommended Posts

I live a mile off Woodward... just thought I'd share a typical eyefull of what kind

of stuff you see on any warm Saturday...

It gets much better as The 3rd week in August approaches, I will send more

updates as we close in...The 2nd week in August is best, it's a jaw dropping

deal whatever direction you look...

Very nice :).

But, um, no MCs?

BTW, I _believe_ that Chevette pictured is the same one I saw at the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2003 when I was there with the First Gen MC Club for our Eastern meet...but, I'm not 100% sure....

*sighs*

I have yet to get to a cruise night at ALL this year :(. The only car show/cruise I've been to thus far is the MC Nationals in Goodletsville TN a couple weekends or so ago.....

Wow... great post MM. Many gorgeous cars... incl. that red Malibu.

5th photo down: I know that's a Chevette with a smallblock conversion

but is it also a "Scooter"?

Nice pictures!

You remember the Chevette Scooter, don't you, Sixty4?  It was a completely bare bones, base model Chevette.  It didn't even have a back seat!

Of course I do, it was the topic of one of my trivia questions.

I called it a "70s Business Coupe". I was wondering if that

was a fo' real Scooter. :AH-HA_wink:

Dam that makes me want to get my Camaro done soooo bad. I used to hit the dream cruise every year but missed the last 2. Now I have another thing going on that same weekend this year but might just drive over Friday evening for the fun of it.

Unless I miss my guess, that white Caddy is parked in roughly the same position as the SSR showcar was in one of GM's promo shots (the SSR was black in the shot). I love that pic.

Here is one for you that didn't fit in the initial post-

I see this Camino almost every weekend, he always wants to race.

I roll the light and get the holeshot, and then he flys past, mouth hanging open...

shift light blinks and barks second hard. Its got a blower, small block,

sticky tires, and lots of rust. I love fast $h!boxes!

Thanks for the pic of the rough and ready Camino,Mouse. There is something to be said for cars like that: no BS,

just fast. :AH-HA_wink:

Whoever reads this should know I will update this thead almost weekly till the

day of the cruise, on which I will capture more. I am toying with the idea of a

C&G meet for those who want to see Woodward....The best time is the week

before and the Friday eve before the cruise!....I happened to buy 5 spots for my brothers, friends for use mostly on Saturday, those C&G members who want a great spot on Friday, feel free to stop by about 200yds North of 12mile on the west side of Woodward I will have room to park and we rate the cars...MAYBE even Malibu rides...Saturday I usually don't drive alot...Mostly BBQing and lounging. I know American Revolution and Schuby 87 will be there so far

I am also building nice map with some good "don't miss" things.

If you are in for Friday Night parking let me know here, and on Saturday let me know if you can stop by for a pit stop! My brothers and friends will have their cars

on these spots but I have one extra for spreading out and gear..I usually have extra cheeseburgers just because we get lots of vistors. Bring a chair on Friday Eve and No alchohol!

Good :).

BTW, keep in mind that I'll be in that area of Michigan the Sunday evening before the cruise ... Aug 13. It appears that the MI MC group might get together that evening ... perhaps we could all meet up somewhere.....

I will be arriving from Canada probably around 3 or 4 pm for check-in at the Holiday Inn. What is the area like? Are there lots of cars there? I could probably make it but I need directions and maybe certain buildings or something so I can recognize the area.

The map is not done yet- But you head South, on Opdyke Rd 3 or so Miles

4km til you turn right to loop around and go South. Woodward runs good

with heavy traffic in the Southbound lanes except really packed in between

15 and 13 mile. Northbound in almost always a parking lot, and I generally

avoid it during cruise weekend.

My spots are on the West side of Woodward, a few blocks North of 12 mile.

NOS 696 might be best, or 16 mile across town and I-75 down to twelve.

Using the mile roads and half mile roads works well for cruising for ex:

One could take Coolidge to 13, go down the south lanes til Catalpa, which

has just been paved, go west back to coolidge, right (north back up to 13 & WW

That way you're not parked sucking fumes in the north lanes, always

rolling, seeing lots of good stuff- the west side is also better because the

wind almost always goes west to east, so again, no fumes.

Northwood is at 13 and WW. pre cruise viewing is best at 13 1/2...

every Saturday from now til September. Northwood is jammed full of cars

the week preceding the cruise, I mean blowers, slicks, hemis, open exhaust.

Autorama and magazine style cars are everywhere you look.

Ford usually hangs out in Birmingham 14 1/2 -15 mile a block west of WW

GM didn't have a huge display as usual last year, just lots of Trailblazers SS

and some performance division stuff...I will find out more after shutdown ends

Actually, Schuby sent me a message saying that I can just follow him down to the area because him and I live pretty close. So I'll probably be out there on the day of and before the cruise.

Nevertheless, I'm cruising Woodward tonight in the I-75 area.. so look for a black Camaro with a shiny grille if you're out there!

Lots of goodies there...I love that '61 LeSabre..probably my favorite year of '60s Buicks...and that Grand Prix was sweet also.

167595[/snapback]

The 61 LeSabre gave me a chill when I saw it...it was trick! big corvette brakes

and calipers, hot 401 motor, chrome was all redone...

My camera battery power dumped out on me or I would have got more,

I will serve up some more goods next weekend

Who is going to be up on Woodward either tonight (Friday) or Saturday night? I'll be up there one of the two. My car is so shiny right now and the rear calipers are painted and done. I honestly spent 7.5 hours on the car today between the calipers and washing/waxing/cleaning/de-swirling/polishing (didn't wax it because my arm is way tired -- damn I need one of those orbital waxing machines, whatever they're called lol -- and it was about 12:45 when I called it quits lol) it. Can't wait to get out there this weekend!

This show sounds so awesome...it sucks that Detroit is over 10 hours from Baltimore/DC...and all of our major shows/cruises for the season are over.

That Impala coupe is beautiful.
