  1. Wouldn't it be funny as FUKK.. if Cadillac killed the CT6 only to, adhere to GM's EV Plans by releasing the Escala as the CT8 in EV form , with only a Black-Wing Edition to appease the OCNBlu types?

  2. Seattle was massively & extensively regraded in the early 20th Century- the old street used to be up where the building was. Engineers moved on the order of 50 million cubic yards of material and razed a lot of buildings for a number of reason (filling the tidepools at the water edge, enxtending available land, aiding water lines coming into the city, lessening grades, etc. Pretty amazing operation.

  3. [Jeep video] There were some Marmon-Herrington 4x4 conversions on my COE's generation model- with the 'granny' low and the ridiculous gearing (5.83/8.11) it would be interesting to see one rock crawl. - - - - -

  6. Well, no other traditional automaker has actually done a full, pure, 100% battery only electric car to be honest. There is GM, BMW, Nissan. Mercedes too. The Toyota Prius family...all those are hybrids right? So Toyota is not one of the companies to get on the 100% full EV bandwagon, right? The Mercedes SLS Electric was one expensive motherfu . I do not know how many were produced and sold, but Im willing to bet it wasnt that many. And I think these were limited editions anyway, so moot point about sales... Porsche and Mercedes Benz are gonna play in the Tesla Model S territory. Porsche and Mercedes Benz better have their A++++ game in the electronic gadgets inside the car as Tesla is second to none there. Tesla's screen that does everything, the download-ability that updates the systems...are all like Microsoft, Apple, Android smooth. THAT is the thing, we all say that Tesla is like Apple...well, they are because Tesla's electronic gadgets act and react EXACTLY how PCs, laptops, tablets and smart phones behave. Maybe even better...and THAT is what the consumer of Tesla cars EXPECTS of their cars nowadays. We've all been spoiled by our smart phones. And then tablets. And THAT is how we want our electronic doodads to be like. And Tesla does that better than anybody! Talk all you want about leather seating, soft touch dashboards or center consoles that cools or heats our drinks...what the modern buyer of cars, especially EVs want, is that their car's connectivity to the internet via that touch screen, be even better than what they are used to with their Samsung's Galaxy and iPhone and tablets... If Mercedes and Porsche want to steal consumers from Tesla, THAT is where the battleground will be fought at... Oh...did I forget to mention the charging network? Oh...and Tesla's motor is a gem too... We will see if Porsche will be able to duplicate Ludicrous... Tesla has NOTHING to lose. If Porsche beats it...hey its Porsche. Its a speed company. And a new speed war has began. And then we wait and see what Tesla does next... If Porsche does not...Porsche hangs their head in shame and only benefits Tesla even more...

  7. I’ve been known to put sweaters on dogs when it’s really cold... and I definitely let them on the furniture. As far as getting sads when selling an old car, I did kind of miss my old Jeep when I traded March 31, 2017. But I’d had it almost 17 years and 170k miles...it was at the point where I didn’t trust it anymore and it would needed expensive repairs. Pic below taken the day I traded it.

  8. You and me both! I especially HATE IT!!! ? when people dress up their dogs.... I understand FULLY!!! @dfelt mentioned his drills... I too, have my favorite tools. A Black and Decker Fire Storm cordless drill, that I absolutely refuse to give up. I love it!!! But Im also on my 3rd Ni-Ca battery on it that I bought for it. 50 bucks. I could buy a brand new Lithion battery powered Ryobi or Makita or whatever...but that Black and Decker, its been with me since 1994. We've been through a lot. I bought it for my dad.XMAS gift. He used it a lot. I used it a lot. As long as I could always buy a Ni-Ca battery for it, I will never let it go. Plus...with my cars that Ive owned. There is ALWAYS a sad moment when I replace them with something new. I aint happy for a new car. Im saddened that Im departing with the old one. I actually cried when I traded in my Olds Alero for the Impala I bought. I just confessed to crying over my Olds Alero when I gave it up for another car. I think that qualifies. But, let us be real here. Anthropomorphism is what is happening here. Inanimate objects do not have personalities. We as humans, assign personalities to them. But...animals actually DO have personalities for real...

  9. Yes, I like that idea. Isn't the new v8 being built here? Would make more sense to keep building the CT6 here. If Cadillac continued to do styling tweaks and maybe went with new interior (some of the recent improvements help but i am thinking a new knock it out interior) it really usually comes down to pricing and packaging for Cadillac. Even though most folks want crossovers nowadays there are still plenty of folks who like the idea of large Cadillac sedans. I still think it may happen where Cadillac reverses on its decision to kill the CT6 here. I wonder if the aluminum intensive construction influenced the decision to kill it.

  10. I don't believe it's a matter of 'not being designed for the American market' - US consumers readily snap ANYTHING up that comes off a boat. Seriously- there's no design/amenities issue with Audi. Simply put- every brand that was a few model luxury line, for some reason, feels pressured to morph into a 12 model lineup going down below the average price of a new car. IMO- the market is oversaturated & diluted. Couple that with the 'cheap' brands coming way up in all areas and -even with the total volume being the same- you are going to see consumer shift.

  11. It is interesting that none of the regular companies have been able to capitalize on EVs the way Tesla has. I assume Tesla's singular focus and not having to support or develop legacy product gave them an early mover advantage.

  12. Their cars sell boatloads in China, I don't think they will redesign them to appease USA tastes when their global sales over a million dwarf their USA sales.

  13. Plug in hybrids are a decaying segment. Esp as a V8. It's another stop gap when their BEV should already be at the top of the ladder, but they have none. They have pissed away valuable years in market presence to Tesla.

  14. Dave- you keep trotting this out as if it were unequivocal. 1. Early 1900s autos were not taken on long trips- there was zero highways and very very few paved roads; you actually couldn't get very far if you wanted to. They were only used for occasional local drives; they were not depended on as transportation by & large. 2. You discount the then-plentiful farms having various fuels on hand, and early cars were simplistic enough to run on a variety of fuels. There was no range anxiety back then. Still, a number of determined motorists completed cross-country trips in the very early years: https://www.wired.com/2016/05/tale-epic-coast-coast-road-trip-1903/

  15. There's something really odd with this design. It looks really bland. The camo hides barely any features, this will be a dull looking CUV.

  16. My son who is a graphic designer and is all Apple has passed on the latest phone's stating there is nothing technologically worth it to upgrade and he now sees better options from the android side that give better quality over apple. He is taking a wait and see approach as he also says Apple has lately seemed to roll out new tech every 2 years like the old Microsoft and now Microsoft is creating new products yearly. It is as if the two companies have flipped their rolls. Some might like Tim Cook as CEO but I think he lacks the creative leadership to drive Apple to new products, solutions and consumer driven demand of profits.

  17. Buick and GMC with regard to CUVs seem to be like Buick and Olds in the 80s-90s with sedans. Two slightly different flavors of essentially the same product....two middle filler brands between Chevy and Cadillac.

  18. I thought I explained myself quite clearly. I look at everything with a critical eye. Refusing to even look at something because of the source (outside of extremist stuff) is what I have a problem with. If you don't want to give CNN the ad revenue, put on an ad blocker (and whitelist us). All of the new outlets source news and op-eds from multiple places. So while one may lean left or right, is it just a lean. I'm still curious which news outlet you think is completely unbiased. I don't think one exists. So if you refuse to read any unbiased news sources, then you're actively choosing to remain ignorant. Read, absorb, form your own opinion.

  19. Its one thing to humanize a dog. At least its living and breathing. Its another to humanize an object. If you really want personality in your transportation medium, horses are the way to go. Im not trying to be funny, just pointing out that an inanimate object have no personalities... Trust me, I know what you mean though about "personality". Different engine's have different horsepower and torque curves and different sounds they make... However, it is also wrong to think that all electric motors in different types of cars will be "tuned" the same. In fact, Tesla Model S and Model 3 cars, and Im talking about personal experience here, both have different settings on how the cars accelerate and use up battery power according to what setting the driver has chosen... Coincidentally, ICE cars have that too... But, such as like ICE cars, small "personality" differences between the model itself that the driver chooses. Do not mistake though, that a Prius drives differently than a Bolt that drives differently than a Tesla Model S that drives differently than a Model 3. Coincidentally, ICE cars have that too... So...the sound is missing on an electric motorized vehicle? A Corvette in Tour mode, AND with all the NOISE pollution hardware that was made into law sometime ago for cars not to make noise because public nuisance, and the LT5 755 horsepower V8 could hardly be heard outside the car AND even inside the cabin. And THAT is on a super fast sports car. When we are talking about current FWD Chevrolet Impalas or 4 door modern Dodge Chargers with our without the V8s, or Honda Accords or Cadillacs or especially Lexus and Buick cars, there is virtually no engine sounds being heard anywhere, unless we open up the hood of the car while the engine is turning. So much so that BMWs, the Mustang and others pipe the engine noises through the car radio speakers. And in some cases, like the aforementioned BMWs, FAKE engine noises... But, I aint here to convert you...just here to keep you informed.

  20. I feel pretty good taking delivery of the very first new-design Compass from my workplace, seeing how sales for the model have sploded. Sad to see FCA starve the Chrysler brand. I adore the 300 and see no feasible replacement... unless it were a classy, RWD/AWD sedan... that's the only way to replace an icon. That new Ram truck is kicking buttocks and taking names. Sort of shocking for purists to see the Cherokee outsell the Grand Cherokee. That pullback from weirdness paid off in beaucoup Benjamins for FCA. What can be said about the Dodge Challenger? Perpetual SCHWING...
