  2. "available" and mild are the key words. Even if most people actually do choose that option, how many of them actually off road their MILD off roader GMC CUVs? In my book, either you are an offroading sports utility vehicle or you are a soccer mom, geezermobile appliance vehicle meant to get your old fart ass in and out of the vehicle more easily...

  7. Given the Torque, HP, and low center of gravity with a battery pack...wonder what it would take to make one of those into an autocross car? This should silence the gentleman from Pennsylvania who says these are going away soon. That is GTI territory, with lots of low end Torque. As an enthusiast, I see a LOT of upside to electrics.

  8. ...yeah...but I have to give props to GM for giving more options than Mazda and looking better in the front. and Micassa is right, a performance version of these would be sick. SS Sedan...Trailblazer... After Canadian winters, most Canadian women are lucky if they can fit in the charger, forget the shorts.

  10. Absolutely. there just isn't a sedan that makes me want it over a comparable SUV/CUV. I either want a sporty coupe or an SUV/CUV/truck. I just don't really care about sedans.

  11. The Ford Explorer is the all-time best-selling SUV in the US. So when Ford redesigned it the ground up, they made sure the 2020 Ford Explorer keeps a familiar face. Now on a new rear-wheel-drive platform that improves interior space and towing capacity, the Explorer broadens the already strong brand Ford has built over the years. Under the hood are one of two turbocharged engines. Offered on the Base, XLT, and Limited is a 2.3 liter Ecoboost 4-cylinder producing 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Standard on the Platinum is a 3.0 liter Ecoboost pumping out 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque when fed 93 Octane. The 2.3 liter comes in either rear-wheel drive or intelligent four-wheel drive with front axle disconnect. That same four-wheel drive system is standard on the Platinum. Power is fed to the wheels through the now familiar 10-speed automatic also found in the Ranger and F-150. 3.0 liter equipped models can tow up to 5,600 lbs, a 12% increase over the existing 3.5 Ecoboost. the 2.3 liter powered models gain a massive 2,300 additional pound towing capacity, maxing out at 5,300 lbs when equipped with a class-III hitch. Update: Ford says that more information regarding a hybrid and a Ford Explorer ST will be coming on Monday at the North American International Auto Show. The interior of the Explorer is also all new and features and available 10.1 in portrait oriented center infotainment screen featuring Ford's Sync3 infotainment system. Wifi service is also available and can support up to 10 devices. Charging those devices should be no problem with 4 USB ports, including new USB-C ports, available wireless charging pad, three 12-volt power sockets, and a 110-volt household style outlet. The overall silhouette of the Explorer doesn't change much and Ford maintained the blacked out A and D pillars. However, moving to a rear wheel drive platform allowed Ford to reduce the front overhang and give a more sloping roofline. Like on the new Ford Edge, Ford is including its suite of safety technology called Co-Pilot 360. This suite contains safety items like adaptive cruise control, speed sign recognition, pre-collision assist, automatic pedestrian braking, lane keeping system, automatic headlamps with automatic high beams, and more. The 2020 Ford Explorer will be built in Ford's Chicago assembly plant and will go on sale this summer. All New Ford Explorer Press Release.pdf

  18. Once again, we need to save the CT6. If Chrysler can keep the 300 around GM can damn sure keep the CT6 around.

  19. Actually.. a great deal of their learning also came from Haldex and their time offering it in the Saab division. The current AWD system in the CT6, for example, is one of the most advanced in the car world.. while the system in the trucks/SUVs as certainly one of the best in the truck world

  20. In all honesty, only the Cobalt SS and the Tralblazer SS were truly a good representation of what an "SS" Chevy should be. The others were just an attempt to sell nostalgia...and cheapened the "SS" moniker in doing so. Piss poor attempts at being "SS" cars is what Im getting at. (I do not remember what the Silverado SS was all about though, so I wont include that vehicle) The 2005 Impala SS should have been the Lumina SS when GM also did the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP back in 1997. Not in 2005. Almost a decade too late. The Malibu SS? I wont even talk about that one... Hummer SHOULD be used by GM. The only reason why it went away is because the greenies were attacking Hummer but not Lexus and Toyota or Mercedes and BMW for offering SUVs in their stables. The Hummer was the scape goat for the "gas guzzling SUV" fight they were doing. Irony now is that all manufacturers all selling "gas guzzling SUVs" today... I do not know how popular "SS" would be with people though. Laugh if you will, but maybe "SS" could be the electrified versions of said models...

  21. I agree on the lunacy of staggered entry. The world moves too fast these days due to globalization and social media/internet. Introduce all at once.. as many choices as possible.. No way the CT5, for instance, should debut on stage without the CT5-V right next to it.

  22. Its always been a ridiculous argument.. 98.9999% of the buyers of this segment can't stand to see dirt on their vehicles let alone go out off-roading a BRAND NEW FUKKING CAR THEY ARE MAKING PAYMENTS ON. Its as silly as people claiming that the reason why they would buy a Range Rover over an Escalade is because the RR is more known as a off-road vehicle in the jungles of Africa. Who are the real complainers???The ones waiting for the 10 year old used "hand me down" Only one I have a real issue with losing .. maybe two.. and they should be together on one platform curing any issues as far as sales of said platform. CT6 and IMPALA on Omega. Global. Done and Done

  23. It is marketing blather.. but as I pointed out earlier.. It has pushed GM, a company that for 10 years prior to a legendary BK, was losing Billions, $39 Billion in 2007 and $30 Billion in 2008 alone.. to one of the most profitable automakers on the planet. Furthermore their ATPS are actually top dog.. without anything really over $130K MSRP for a mainstream brand. Appliances sell. Many, no most, out there praised Toyota and Honda for their "Frigidaires (ironically once a GM brand) on Wheels, but people want to crucify GM for now doing it. What saves them in my eyes is that their performance vehicles are fukking SICK!!! And I'm lucky enough to be able to afford them. Not a boast, but fact. Alfred Sloan philosophy is being utilized only slightly by GM, while being used 100% by Toyota for instance. Crazy turn of events. The Enclave, Traverse, Acadia, XT6 strategy is BRILLIANT! I don't care what anyone says.. and nor should GM, because the consumers.. the public who don't listen to this banter about platforms and are buying in droves. 345K sales last year of Cxx alone.. GM would be a fool to not continue that practice. The Blazer will add to that, as will the XT6. I'm betting minimal 450K sales 2019 for the Cxx platform in the U.S.

  25. Plus Burt was looking so Asian before he died last September 2018 due to all the face lifts to keep attempting to look young rather than accept aging gracefully. We all get old, not the years but the miles and working out keeps ya going Spartan Strong!

  26. For me....it is the opposite. Obviously now, and for the last 2,3,4, 5 years now, sedans have gotten to be, not that interesting. That would be because CUVs have taken over... But...fir me at least, all these new CUV entries we have had in the last 5 years, not one interests me. Not one! I keep on going back to the only SUV that I ever loved. And that would be the original Jeep. CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, JL... I can tolerate the Ford Edge. Im really liking the Aviator. The Blazer looks to be alright, but I doubt that it excite me to the point where I could say yippee!!! The Jeep Grand Cherokee is also tolerable.

  27. You guys are sissies!!! We keep talking about about how sedans are going away, we discuss how vehicles are becoming appliances... Back in the 1980s, middle aged men drove these around with nie a complain. Burt Reynolds was 41???!!! Im dissapoint...

  28. You have no sense of whimsy. I don't think general consumers know, care OR can tell that an intangible "platform" is shared, and after decades of derision against GM for 'platform sharing'- low & behold- many of the major conglomerates have only been moving toward doing the exact same thing. Now... not only are rivals partnering up to build each other components and whole vehicles, business conservatism is forcing brands to be more & more & more alike in product. 2.0L AND 3.0L ENGINES FOR EVERYONE!!! :P

  29. I understand; drop of $2000, but by the end of 2019 the tax credit will have halved twice, making a given Tesla $3625 'more expensive' than on 12.31.18 (in people's minds).

  32. • supra is 17 years gone now : all it's buyers are -if toyota is lucky enough to somehow have retained them- profiling in avalons now. And it returns (and I'll have to believe the hipshot 'too little too late' comment applies) on the cusp of The Great Disengagement of Driving. Or will it be a careening, drifting steering wheel-less-only ride?? • A handful of people 'cult following' an obscure 'hot' corolla does not make the corolla 'hot'. 350K per year of kick-to-the-curb rental vanillas. It's literally the LCD of motordom. I believe I've 'astral projection driven' right thru hundreds in my time.

  36. So Autoblog has a story on the Leaf Nismo and they got this info for the AWD Leaf Nismo Version: the new Leaf Nismo RC blows away the old car in terms of performance. With two 120-kW electric motors, the Leaf Nismo RC has all-wheel drive and puts down 478 pound-feed of torque. It'll sprint from 0-62 miles per hour in a brisk 3.4 seconds. Nissan didn't disclose what battery the Nismo RC uses, or its capacity. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/11/30/nissan-leaf-nismo-rc-race-car-electric-ev/

  38. Mainstream buyers don't care that their Malibu handled a little better than a "granny" Equinox. They didn't care that their Grand Am was just a family sedan with reddish trim and fake intake vents. If handling was even slightly important to them in the first place they wouldn't have bought a Malibu or Grand Am. I'm pretty sure a new Equinox would outhandle a $h!ty 1994 Grand Am even if it was new though lol given 1994 Grand Am's had the chassis rigidity of Primo pasta. For those that actually care, there are still options and they are far better than what used to be available. A Miata does 0-60 under six seconds, pony cars are pretty much sports cars now, family car Accord 2.0T Sports with a stick shift go for just over 30 grand, Civic Type R is probably the fastest ever FWD track car, even Hyundai/Genesis is in the RWD compact sedan market now.
