The risk factor has nothing to do with my not buying. It's considered an ethical no-no in journalism to invest in companies you are reporting on. As such, I don't directly invest in any automotive industry stocks. It's one way I try to keep the trust with you guys.4 points

It's called cherry picking. Try it, you might like it. Go ahead, just pop one here, pop one there... pretty soon, you'll be a "man about town" with all those popped cherries under your belt. Consumer Reports is not the only authoritative entity displeased with Tesla's quality. Ocnblu's C&G Rating System, for example, has awarded the most downvotes in history to the Tesla brand, and the entire atmosphere around it. And I am sure there will be moar coming. STAY TUNED, MY CANADIAN COMPADRE!4 points

Somewhere out on the interwebs there's a discussion board focusing pointedly on genitalia, where a poster shows up bi-monthly to make a random, manic comment on the auto industry.4 points

Hello everyone. Don’t mind me. Just felt like I should step in here and point out that the owner of an FCA product (that has had, according to NHTSA, six recalls including one that could cause the vehicle to stall out) is making fun of another automaker for quality issues.4 points

There is ONE slight difference. Fiats are known quality problem child- going back... forever. It's expected. Tesla is a brand new, luxury-priced entity; pointing out widespread quality issues isn't a bash as much as it's a public service announcement. Think of the 100s of thousands of depositers who might be making a very regretable mistake, that can be saved from a potential headache and save $50K-60K. Thats' just being neighborly, IMO. ;)3 points

c&g 2005: CONSUMER REPORTS IS TEH BIASED AGAINST GEE EMM, THEY SHOULD STICK TO REVIEWING DISHWASHERS c&g 2019: MY PENIS IS TINY AND THAT MAKES ME HATE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TESLA'S, GO CONSUMER REPORTS LOLOL3 points

Stopped by a Buick-GMC dealer on the way home from a job. They had 4 crew cab 6.5-ft bed Sierras, so I looked them over & was able to 'cement' a few particulars. A so-called 'double cab' (extended cab) is absolutely out- too small in the rear seat. Why this is the prevailant configuration is beyond me. For some reason, when I was looking at Silverados late last year, they seemed incredibly high (bedsides), but not these. Including the double cabs, there were SLs, SLT, Elevations & Denalis, and they were basically the same heights and none were too tall. A great thing. So there was a CC/6.5 SL there, red, 5.3L, dealer had stuck on 'splash guards' ($180) and full-length running boards ($725), and I would have both of those featured removed. However, I think I'd need the 20" rims- anyone know if a dealer can swap 20"s in place of 18"s? The 20s are a good 3 inches taller, my question is, is there any GM mandate prohibiting swapping, for computer issues? Need to get inside one next. Finally seeing some pretty good deals on the SIlverado side- $7K off on a few. - - - - - Coming soon, the Hellephant :D ~2 points

Nah- no one knows what an 's73' is- the halo effect rained down from the S65, and now that's dead. Flushed the halo effect down the drain and the reverberations will ripple all down the line and sedans sales will falter even faster than they already are. You know - if you believe any of this bullshit.2 points

Haven't used it in a while, mostly stick w/ Safari on my home laptop. With work I've been dealing with compatibility issues this week on a new application and Edge, IE, Firefox, and Chrome...as always, IE is the problem child. Will be glad when IE no longer has to be supported..2 points

The problem in MIA is that even the TSA pre lines are super long because they give TSA Pre to all the senior citizens. There needs to be a TSA Pre+ for seasoned flyers... people who have gone through Pre-Check more than 4 times in the last 12 months and thus know the drill.2 points

There's that, but there's also the VSS platform coming for the next generation CT6. VSS is supposed to be capable of a much wider range of vehicles than Alpha and Omega are. as mentioned above, there is also a new platform coming. Maybe this buys them time until that gets released.2 points

The totally redesigned vehicles (Navigator, Continental, Aviator) have done a fantastic job with that. The ones that are merely makeovers (Nautilus, MKZ, MKC) aren't there yet. I hope they refresh the Nautilus interior rather quickly.2 points

Well... You either swear by Consumer's Report or you dont... If, in 2005 you found that Consumer's Report was crap because it crapped on your favorite brand, then in 2019, you cant just magically start respecting Consumer's Report's reports just because THIS time around you like what you hear from them... And then start calling out people on it on how you are a wizard for hatin' on the brand Consumer's Report dissed on... I...LOATHE Consumer's Report even for dishwashers... Tesla cars arent even close to being built without faults. Like far far from... But they are built to a world wide standard that is more than satisfactory... Fiat...there is NO surprise that Fiat cars were always built lower than the industry average. Its common knowledge. Nobody needs Consumer's Reports findings to acknowledge that fact. Ford...on the Fusion has had plenty of quality recalls... I dont see you, Blu, waving the Conser Report report on the Fusion and laughing... You dont see me dissing on Ford nor do you see me complimenting Consumer's Report just because it suits my dumb ass biased agenda... I never got flaky and sentimental when GM was and probably still gets dissed by Consumer's Report, nor do I cheer for Consumer's Report when they sometimes downgrade a Toyota product... THIS is why, once again, your genitalia and your ownership of a Chrysler/Fiat product gets shat on by some... Tesla cars have got something that GM/FoMoCo/Chrysler cars has lost a long time ago. But...truth be told, GM/FoMoCo/and Mopar trucks have never lost, and Corvette, Mustang and Challenger will NEVER lose... But it is fun to seeing the pissing matches between you and the others regarding this Jeepiat/Tesla feud... Thanx for the long lasting memories!2 points

I posted this tidbit here years back, came across it again & it bears repeating IMO. I greatly enjoy stories of windfalls. - - - - - When the initial investors for the Ford Motor Company were being assembled in 1903, the list was short- only 14 individuals (HF was one). The ante was $100/share. One man greatly believed in the budding enterprise, and desperately wanted 25 shares ($2500). His problem was, his life savings amounted to but $400. He managed to get a high-rate bank loan for $1500, got a $500 bonus for greatly upping his employer's coal delivery sales ... and he implored his schoolteacher sister to contribute. Her life savings were only $200, but she reluctantly agreed to lend him $100. With his 25 shares now in hand and Ford soon proven to be solvent, the man came back to his sister. Instead of repaying her the $100, he gave her a single share of Ford Motor Company. When Henry Ford began a vigorous stock buy-back in 1919, the sister was able to tally her benefits of owning 1 share of stock. She had realized $95,000 in dividends, and the single share sold back to Ford netted her $260,000. Her $100 investment returned her $355,000. - - - - - Of course it's staggering to compare the 'then & now' - FoMoCo stock has been parked under $10/share for at least a decade.2 points

My Lenovo W530 is still running strong, course 1TB SSD drive x2 and 32GB of ram so I figure this laptop will still go another 3-5 years for me. Probably will be forced by the company to move to a newer Dell Laptop in the future, but for now after 5yrs, this thing rocks.1 point

Get ready for another drop in mercedes car sales. Not just from the V-12 discontinuation... but from the thousands of people who bought a $30K CLA JUST BECAUSE there was a $150K V-12 available (that they had no intention OR means to buy). Could be catastrophic.1 point

Pacific beaches are cold by Atlantic standards. The current on the West Coast comes down from Alaska. Same with Chile and Peru. That upward flowing Pacific current, which I think is called the Humboldt Current, makes Pacific South American beaches cold and the waves can be daunting. I've lived in Atlanta. I never made it to Myrtle Beach. I guess it's o.k. Virginia Beach seems to be well liked, too. For beaches, I went to the Florida Panhandle. I can only speak for Florida's Panhandle, meaning Pensacola, Destin, Panama City, and Fort Walton. They call it the "Redneck Riviera." Even the locals call it that and they're okay with it. If you vacation there, it will mostly be Southerners and Midwesterners. Easterners and Canadians typically don't go there. As for Florida's Atlantic coast, if you go too far down, you get into the hubbub of South Florida and its higher prices. Around Daytona and the Space Coast, it's very tacky. That sort of leaves you the beaches of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and possibly even Delaware. I still default to the Panhandle. If not, I would opt to sit on the sand and swim in the warm waters of Italy, Spain, Portugal, or Greece. End of story.1 point

Yeah, the 9 years I lived in Phoenix, I only worked in Phoenix once for 6 months--downtown. The rest of the time, I was commuting to Chandler, Tempe and Scottsdale. The Scottsdale drive was easy since I could avoid the freeway and take Camelback.1 point

Ugh. For about a month and a half I was driving from El Mirage to Mesa, a 43 mile drive one way. So glad I only drive nine miles one way now. Long commutes suck.1 point

Jeep and Chrysler is consistently rated at the bottom of pretty much ALL the reliability ratings. Does it make excuse for Tesla? No But I would not laugh too hard over Tesla if I owned an FCA product. And I don't think excuse as such my X or Y car never gave any problems work. I am sure plenty of Tesla owners who have no issues either. These are statistical analysis that look at overall product lines.1 point

The only one Id go outta my way for, if I was a millionaire/billionaire playboy, would be the GNX. Not the regular Grand National, but the GNX. My favorite G-Body though would be the Olds. Then would be the Grand Prix. Then would be the Regal. But not just any Regal, the T-Type and the GN/GNX. Unlike the Cutlass and the GP, those I like in any trim. Then in 4rth place its the Monte Carlo. The SS is cool, but Id rather the LS over the SS. I like the SS, but I prefer the LS. Say what you will about the G-Bodies. They make for really cool beaters...1 point

I don't think one will. People buy Teslas for the same reason they run out and buy the latest iPhone. It's a status and brand snob thing. I think Rivian could rival Tesla if they can launch without the kwality issues that Tesla has.1 point

Note that it says 'While we in the US get the gasoline version of the SQ5..' in the last sentence. The gas version should be a good competitor for the XT5-V. Oh, wait, there is no XT5-V..1 point

We think alike, I would rather drive and see the country than fly unless large bodies of water to cross. Cruising is nice but unless you have a number of islands to at least visit every other day, seeing the same Beluga whales on the ship attempting to get brown when all they do is turn lobster red is boring. I am not a shopper or gambler, so like you, skip Vegas and see the grand canyon and all the cool stuff to do there. Since the skywalk opened, I want to return to visit and see what it is like to be so far up in the air and look straight down. Should be very freaky cool with the floor of the Grand Canyon at 1,160 feet and the Skywalk is at 4,770 feet. Should make for some crazy high views looking down. I am sure my wife and mother would have a hard time walking it if at all as they are afraid of heights or what science calls Acrophobia.1 point

This summer we are thinking about travelling down to the States for some vacation time. Hit some American beaches...on the East Coast. I dont think Ill have the time to drive all the way down to Florida (I do want to drive, so my kids get to see some American paysage. (scenery) South Carolina and Mytle Beach? My other neighbor, to the right of me(the neighbor to the left has the Tesla Model 3), he goes to Myrtle Beach every year. Maybe too far south still... Virginia Beach? Wildwood New Jersey? My best friend has gone to Ocean City Maryland twice and he recommends we go there. There is Massachusetts with Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyards or the Hamptons but we've been to Boston before to see my cousin and my daughter has a school trip there just before school finishes and the beaches that north arent exactly...well, Im used to Greek beaches... Further south and the beaches look awesome. Out west even better... Anyway, the point to this long winded story is about car rentals...yes car rentals...I might as well continue the car rental talk. We sometimes take our own vehicles for family trips and sometimes we rent. Depending on my moods. This time Im thinking about renting. And this time, since today's fullsized cars are midsizers of yore, me thinks Im going to go with an SUV. There...my story is finished.1 point

Oddly, of the 6 cars I rented in Cleveland in '16-17, 4 of them had out of state plates...Florida, New York, Tennessee and PA IIRC..1 point

Yes it did retract and while retracted you got a 2.5"~ high color screen for things like radio controls. The 2nd gen CTS and 2010+ SRX had it.1 point
