  1. The solution to saving Chrysler is clear to anyone who isn't actually at Chrysler. Take the Pacifica platform and build premuim crossovers out of it. Build a premium crossover out of the Cherokee. Notice I didn't say full luxury, but at least take on Buick and some of Lincoln (though I think Lincoln is moving up fast in the world)

  2. Sorry. BMW is NOT stupid for charging for Apple CarPlay. BMW owners and lessees are stupid for PAYING for Apple CarPlay in the BMW of their choice. Many of them would be better off replacing the roundel with a Cadillac of their choice.

  3. We are no longer in an era of "a" car though. There are too many. Those past eras had those listed cars as completely stand-above-the-rest cars. Now there are 10 hyper-car-level-performance. And FWIW, collectors' perspective is total sh!t. Drive your cars. I know it was odd that Ford made people apply for their GTs but I love that they wanted their stuff driven and not just rolled into an underground garage and parked for the rest of the owners's life. Seeing people park cars with under 10 miles on them is infuriating as somebody who loves to drive and will likely never have the opportunity to drive anything special like what people park.

  4. Still more profits than Diamler... ? I didn't know they sold retail. I thought they were a rental car company, exclusively.

  5. I don't think it should be canceled. It is an awesome halo car. As long as they're planning for all of the costs and the market decline, it's no biggie. Spend a billion and 5 years on it. Although, if I'm being honest, the hyper car thing has lost my interest once the first batch was replaced in only a couple short years. The 918, LaFerrari, and P1 were epic and amazing in about every way imaginable...then they were replaced not too many years later because technology is changing that fast. We went from F40 and 959 in the late 80's to the F1, F40, XJ220, Diablo, EB110, and now there are probably triple that that are in the hyper car game with Koenigsegg, Bugattis, 720S, One:1, SSC's, Enzo, Ford GT's, Paganis, SuperFast, etc... There are just so many out there that they no longer seem that special to me.

  6. The Elon Musk for Mercedes right here... making big promises but delay after delay... and then the eventual goal post shift.

  7. Once the diesel rolls out for the 2020 Silverado, it will take the title of most fuel efficient full-size truck on the market with an EPA rating of 23 City / 33 Highway / 27 Combined. The 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder diesel generates 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and also features a start stop system. In the Silverado, the price of the diesel engine is the same as upgrading to the 6.2 liter gasoline V8. It adds, $2,495 to the price of an LTZ or High Country model, or $3,890 to the cost of an LT or RST. Naturally, the engine will be available in the GMC Sierra as well. For those counting, this means the Sierra diesel is more efficient than the 4-cylinder diesel in the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. It is also a less costly upgrade than on the two smaller trucks, there costing $5,745 on an LT GM is likely to hold the MPG title for a while as Ford's F-150 diesel was just released for 2019 and is rated for 22 City / 30 Highway / 25 Combined. Ram hasn't sold their 3.0 V6 Ecodiesel since 2017, but it was rated at 20 City / 27 highway / 23 combined. Honda does not field a full size truck. Nissan does, but does not offer a diesel in their standard duty models. Toyota does not offer a diesel at all, though it is rumored that the next Tundra will be coming with a twin-turbo V6 hybrid. The Silverado Diesel arrives in dealerships this fall. View full article

  8. Probably never. It is likely too long to be mounded in there. I don't see how they'd fit another two cylinders in there. I gotta say, for the little amount they are charging for the upgrade to diesel. As long as you're not looking for raw speed, the diesel might be the best choice of engine for this truck. 460 lb-ft of torque plus a 10-speed should still hustle it along pretty good.

  9. All true. Too bad GM will not do the right thing and make Cadillac take on RR/Bentley while Buick takes on MB/BMW/Audi/Lexus.

  10. I agree. THAT is not an Escalade. An Escalade has a fundamental presence that most Cadillac CUVs do not have.

  11. Since Ram and Jeep are so strong, they can support two small brands (if they jettison the walking dead Italian brands).

  12. They aren’t going to cancel it, and no one will have a better hyper car either. Won’t be until the 2030s when someone builds a better hyper car and it will probably be Mercedes that does it. That is why they are the best, they keep pushing. And “the best or nothing” wants the best Nürburgring lap time even though they say it isn’t about lap times, I am sure they want that record and they’ll beat the Aventador SVJ by a full minute and no one is touching that.

  16. Soooo, Rivian made them take it down as it infringed on their copyrights. At the 2 min mark in the video you see the truck come down this dirt road to a non passable hole in the road and then do a tank 360 turn in place to continue back up the way it came. Very cool and for sure will offer people an easier way to get out of a tight situation. Found this screen grab that someone else had done. Too bad I did not think about it, could have done a screen recording of the video to post then.

  17. This times a Million! Tired of seeing so called special auto's bought and parked in private collections and never seen on the streets. Makes sure to sell to people who will commit to driving them.

  18. That is a bum, very cool seeing the R1T do a 360 in place. Talk about an awesome feature of EV's to have the controllers cause the motors to reverse so you can spin in place. Story says that Rivian has an even better video of real production R1T doing it but is not ready to show it off yet. I hope they release it soon as it would drive excitement for their products.

  19. I liked some of the 80s-early 90s ones. Today they are just styleless machines that either sit in garages and are rarely driven, or catch fire when they are driven. And all that hideous carbon fiber trim---barf.

  24. They would need to improve their infotainment systems (especially at Infiniti) first. As for the question posed: Absolutely they will announce big job cuts. Shareholders are never satisfied until all revenue = profits.

  25. I have come across two CT5s and while I still can’t stand the cheap plastic over the back door window, the car does look much better overall in person. What in the actual F? Cheap bastards!

  26. So just do the opposite of what it takes to NOT lose more money as well as alienate your buyers with a bordering illegal bait and switch tactic? Mmmkay. Why would the “best or nothing” need to build its brand image?

  27. Thanks, found this story on Android Auto and the wireless feature, but it uses so much power, not worth having it they say. Yet for short trips, still interesting. https://www.extremetech.com/mobile/267568-google-rolls-out-wireless-android-auto-but-almost-no-one-can-use-it Found this with good info also: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/android-auto-faq,news-20799.html

  28. Sometimes I feel that Fiat knows less about American market product than Daimler did. Daimler at least flooded the product pipeline and was very forward looking with crossovers and new concepts - maybe they were a little too early. Daimler's problem was that they thought American product ought to be done as cheaply as possible - damn styling and interior quality. Fiat on the other hand will put a lot of capital in just a few products - but their brand strategy is very confusing and diluted. In either scenario, I'm not sure the guys at Auburn Hills ever have much say. 93-99 was really the golden era and will never return.

  29. AMG GT and G Wagen are priced high enough that their low sales shouldn't be an issue. You could probably average those 5677 sales at $150,000 per unit.. Oh that's a good way to lose some of the wealthiest people in the world as clients.
