  1. Time absolutely is money. Ive dedicated some thought to this, and a few of the things I do as standard practice is: I drive my vehicle down to empty, and fuel it to the brim. I also never count coin change when I buy something for cash. Less time spent worrying/doing those things. I assume all the Teslas drivers I see swarming the superchargers (being nice here) are retirees for whom they have no where to be at 9AM on a given weekday. Old folks car. Being nice about it.
  2. It would have been nice to know how the domestics are doing.
  3. Well, I know if I was a Tesla owner, I wouldn't be doing that. It's a waste of time. Time is money. It's a waste of money.
  4. Almost 50k a month of those things... and they aren't even that great.
  5. Doesn't mean that. The pie could have just been bigger all around. It isn't a static number.
  6. They'll get you on the vehicle registration side of things rather than your electric rates.
  7. Now who's the troll...
  8. So much talk about electrics on a "random thoughts" thread. Shhhh...better be careful folks.?
  9. "Business is booming over at Mercedes". -Lost billions recently -Cutting models -Still down for the year -One really good month (only when compared to the crap month a year ago) Maybe that good month is because of firesafe lease offers like these. https://www.mbusa.com/en/special-offers Naaaaah. Couldn't be that. Maybe this is proof that there are semi-professional fluffers out there for Mercedes. There is a certain irony brining up Q50s as rental cars when...
  10. Really good month all around. Business booming over at Mercedes, Infiniti is really tanking, that brand has almost nothing desirable, I wonder how many of their sales are Q50 rental fleet cars.
  11. I work a full time job and I also do consulting for private clients. I know what my hourly rate is and I keep that in mind for tasks that I don't like doing. I even keep it in mind for laying on the couch doing nothing, as relaxation has a value to me also. The savings has got to be a lot higher than $10 an hour for me to go out of my way to Supercharge for free.
  12. Because it isn't in the spirit of what Supercharging is about... and the typical increase in household electrical cost is $30 - $40 a month. I don't know what your hourly rate is, but spending an 4 - 6 hours a month charging at a supercharger just to avoid a $40 increase in my electrical bill is not a good use of my time. Heck, double it.... it's not enough to avoid $80 a month increase. I've paid $40 just to avoid the 30 minutes it takes me to do my lawn. Tesla owners are richer than I am. The Supercharger network is there to facilitate long distance driving in your Telsa.
  13. General Motors will be using Google Software for its embedded infotainment systems starting in 2021. This is in contrast to the Amazon Alexa capability found in some new Ford vehicles starting this year. The systems from GM will offer Google assistant, Google Maps, and certain other applications that are available in the Google Play app store in all of its brands except those in China. GM and other automakers have resisted demands by consumers for this type of software built in out of a fear of losing control of data and the possibility that the Silicon Valley brands eclipse their own. Consumer demand has forced the manufacturers’ hands however. Google will not have access to any of the data regarding driving style or vehicle maintenance needs, so consumers need not fear tracking or monetization by Google based on vehicular data. Through Google Assistant, GM hopes to offer additional services such as scheduling service appointments. Some of the services Google Assistant supplies are duplicates of offerings by GM’s own OnStar service. However, OnStar still is able to respond to an accident whereas Google Assistant cannot. Furthermore, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will continue to be offered. Expect the Google Assistant packages to be an additional cost item, and prices will be released closer to launch date. The agreement with Google allows for the installation in up to 3.6 million vehicles annually, the number of vehicles sold outside of China last year. Other manufacturers using Google’s systems are Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Volvo. View full article

  15. Such a complicated system.
  16. Yeah, they did a major update about 2 years ago starting with the Equinox and Terrain. It's substantially better than the prior version
  17. while i agree with what you said, i am skeptical that GM, Ford etc. is keeping market share.
  18. It's outselling the Tacoma and Tundra combined, and ahead of the Camry and Corolla.. wowza
  19. GM's most recent infotainment system runs on Android now, but doesn't use any of the Google Assistant stuff.
  20. This is so true of the states that follow California CARB. They are figuring in an equal gas tax fee to your yearly auto registration. Washington state for EVs adds a $150.00 fee onto your auto registration and $75 on top of Hybrids. The off set to this as some said this is higher than what ICE only auto's pay in gas tax over a 10yr life is that we have no sales tax on EVs and reduced on Hybrid. https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/altfuelexemptions.html On August 1, 2019, the sales and use tax exemption was reinstated for the sales of: vehicles powered by a clean alternative fuel certain plug-in hybrids The exemption applies to dealer and private sales of new, used, and leased vehicles sold on or after August 1, 2019. New vehicle transactions must not exceed $45,000 in price or lease payments. Used vehicles transactions must not exceed $30,000 in price or lease payments. These price thresholds include both the cost of the vehicle and the value of your trade-in, if applicable. For example: If the cost of a new vehicle is $48,000, and the value of your trade-in is worth $6,000, you can't receive the tax exemption. Even though the trade-in brought the cost down to $42,000, the new vehicle was still worth over the $45,000 limit. You cannot use a trade-in to lower the price of a vehicle to meet the exemption limits.
  21. It is simply astounding that the RAV4 is putting out full size pick up type numbers.
  22. Finally auto makers getting some sense into them! This should have happened at least 3-5 years ago.
  23. I hate coin change...so I try and avoid using cash whenever possible...but I still end up w/ a lot of change in my cupholders and center console bin.. I drive down to 1/8th tank then fill up when home in the burbs, on road trips I'll let it get down to half a tank if it's an unfamiliar area..
  24. Have you ever heard the expression "time is money". I believe that is what Drew is getting at while you accuse him of being "grumpy". Edit: Disregard as I just saw that Drew covered the "time is money" aspect. Carry on lol.
  25. And that's fine. But I'm talking about the people who hog up superchargers to avoid charging at home. It's a documented problem that Telsa has actually taken steps to mitigate.
  26. That would really sell better than this city car. Even in Europe.
  27. Those are just the public charging points. Most people charge up at home (except the Tesla Supercharger leaches).
  28. Man, does HomeAdvisor give some shitty, erroneous information. "light fixture work : $150 - $750" "wiring a house : $550 - $750." Look at that for a half second.
  29. $154K - $79K = $75K. That means if you subtracted BOTH motors, the rest of the car cost/is worth a negative $4,000. Dropping one motor is NOT equatable to half the price of the car. The question I have is; will the Taycan turn a profit at $154K??
  30. Yes it should. If Honda was really ambitious, they would put that technology (BEV and all) into a CR-V.
  31. Height matters in riding. Believe me. When I was originally looking for a bike (I'm 6'3) I was gonna get a Sportster 1200.. Sat on it.. all hunched over even with 10 inch bars.. went for a test.. came back with an aching back. At 5'10,.. U still might want to look at a larger bike so as U don;t have to go thru as much adjusting and changing stuff to accommodate your height.. just sayin. If U already know this.. my bad.. That BMW may have U needing to up the handle bars and change the seat.. no to mention get forward controls. TRUTHFULLY.. U can find a lotta nice deals on older bikes with low miles that are larger.. from Harley.. Triumph.. Indian.. hell even Yamaha. I admittedly was considering getting a Yamaha Raider S
  32. BMW ninet Scrambler? How tall are U?
  33. I'm waiting for a rental property to sell. I won't be buying new, I'll buy a low mileage pre-owned this:
  34. 5 years ago I cut the cord and went with streaming to enjoy the shows I wanted to watch, reduce the commercials and BS Media Manipulation. Course Social Media is even worse than Mainstream American Media. Rather read BCC or some other news source over our current mess.
