Talking with a new customer today, older guy (60), said he 'really like your truck, have you thought about selling it?' and 'Oooo, it's a diesel!' I can't let mine go until I line up a replacement... and I look frequently... AND we never talked a number... but it's good to know there's potential buyers out there. I'd rather sell it privately. But the new truck prices are crazy... and I don't even need a High Country or LTZ. That said, another customer just got a brand new Denali Crew Cab/Short bed 5.3. White, gorgeous. Crewcab Denali 1500s sticker in the mid 60s. He got it for $50K. Now... if I can get a $50K truck down to -say $37K, I'm a buyer.1 point

coming up on one year. Love this ride. Yes, it's not an SUV..... this rogue little ride has not been getting the use due to COVID and as such, when i purchased almost a year ago to the day as new demo with around 4,000 miles...I am now at only about 12,000 on the odometer. Lots less family travel with father in law passing away and not taking many trips to see mom. But did just get the oil changed at a Buick dealer last week and then drove about 500 miles with it. The gas mileage really took a jump, post oil change. I averaged about 33 mpg over two long legs of the trip and even in town its been pulling higher in the twenties. This may just be an anomoly as it mostly has returned 24 mpg over the vehicle life so far (trending towards 25). For a fuel sucking turbo AWD this is not bad. I've fed it premium fuel exclusively since i have had it...most fill ups at Costco with their top tier fuel, including one at about a 1.50 a gallon earlier this summer. This 2.0 is being retired on many GM vehicle lines now....but I will enjoy the 250hp and 295-lb ft of torque while i have it. It's not a burner but is still perhaps the quickest vehicle I have owned (except for my v-6 89 Taurus SHO...its faster than my v8 SHO). Still yet I would always enjoy more speed.... Everyone who sees this car for the first time thinks its really cool, and then they ask what the hell it is. Then i get the 'I didn't know Buick made that car'. Or the 'that's a wagon...a good looking wagon!'. Even the service manager who assisted me the last week said, 'I've only ever seen 1 other one', shaking his head as if to imply, that is a good looking car why didn't they sell more? I explained to him that i felt they overpriced the car and that the option packaging was terrible. I said trying to find one with all options or at least the way you would accept it was near impossible. I could have gotten into it more that the whole Regal line was botched from a price and marketing / packages perspective....but its a waste of time since the model was cancelled here. Such a shame, because the enthusiasm people get when they see it tells me greatly that if promoted and packaged correctly, it would have seen many more buyers in the market. I visited a completed job site a couple weeks ago to view an apartment tower our company completed. One of my fellow team leader coworkers whose project it was also has a Regal...a Sportback in the same Smoked Pearl Metallic. As we both pulled out of the parking lot at the end of the tour, with some of our other coworkers looking on they made the remark that managers drive gray Buick Regals apparently. Clearly they were making jokes but they all thought our cars were cool. Sometimes its fun having something unique in a market flooded with the usual compact CUV suspects. I just read on another site about the 2021 Regal refresh in China. A 1.5 is standard on the Regal there but the new LSY 2.0 motor is now available on their Regal. It's the same 2.0 with 237hp and 258 Lb ft that is available on many North America GM vehicles. I would be interested in seeing how that compares to the 2.0 in mine. I do know the LSY gets better mpg, and although it is for sure slower, I imagine its a very good match for the Regal, and it should be put in the Malibu here as well. Here's some pictures of over the last few months.....1 point

So, the debate began today....wife wants smaller vehicle but admits the utility of the Chrysler van is amazing. So, we'll see how this progresses as our lease is up early next year...there is always pull ahead. An interesting unknown, Chrysler has touted the all wheel drive as new for 2021 model year....BUT there are actually 2020 'launch edition' ALL WHEEL DRIVE Pacifica's already out ....... 2021 adds the option of a real console and armrest. Not the fold down skinny seat armrests. BUT will it be too EXPENSIVE to get that real armrest? Toyo Celcius 'all weather' tires we put last winter on the van have driven as well as the OEM Michelins. The Michelins were touted as amazing tires in the wet and snow with long tread life. The tread life sucked and the wet and snow performance was average. The Toyos due to 'all weather' design were quite good in snow; not as good as a full winter tire but with deep tread and sipes, better than an all season. But still, this van has been amazing. No issues (knock on wood). Comfortable, great gas mileage. Pulled about 28 mpg on a recent highway trip and it averages about 23 mpg in normal city driving. I am sure mpg with AWD drops some, but it would still be very good for such a large vehicle. Whether we end up with a Pacifica or something else like a Blazer or Traverse or Enclave or Atlas / Cross Sport / Explorer / XT5 / XT4 / 2021 Envision..... I can vouch that this Stellantis is quite good for the family segment. Here's some recent vacation pics....1 point

I said 'speedy'; I didn't say 'good'. JUST saw an article stating Model Y owners are finding composite lumber and zip ties under the front cargo area insert. Tesla- 12 years and still learning how to slip-slap cars together.1 point

are you sure it just isn't an overwhelming internal urge to 'shake your booty'?1 point

Using the Model 3 as an example of speedy production is a poor poor choice given the massive production issues and reliability issues that have dogged them since.1 point

trax ceertainly has a 'chin'. Trax was dead but SUV boom and trailblazer intro means trailblazer can shoot for the higher price points and the Trax sales may actually increase by being able to sell at low prices. I wouldn't be suprised to see Trax remain in the lineup unchanged until 2025 or so....Trax and Encore came out in 2013 (Trax wasn't available right away in the US). Encore will probably continue also in the Buick showrooms, 10+ year shelf life that is getting to be FCA style vehicle staying power. K5 nice looking indeed I wish they would have kept the Optima name. I wished in the past they had kept the Spectra name also though.1 point

^ high speed assembly line for a brand new $70K trucklette? Ocnblu is correct, sales are going to be a slim fraction of its competition. Only EV line moving at any speed of note is the Model 3.1 point

@ccap41 According Rivian, Jan 2021 is when existing pre-order customers will get access to customize their R1T for building and delivery. 60 to 90 days after that, the sales will open up to everyone who is not a pre-order customer. Mitsubishi built millions of auto's on that assembly line. Rivian has stated that they will start off slow to insure quality over quantity and speed things up as they get everyone trained.1 point

This is the one of the goofiest songs around. Picture yourself in a lava lamp shop with this as background music. The icing on the cake is the lady saying random things in Spanish in the background. I think that asking students to decipher what she is saying, assuming you can hear her more clearly, would make for a good extra credit question on a Spanish 102 exam.1 point

I have parallel parked my sister's Chevy Trax...167.2" overall length. Very easy to PP. I remember as a teenager learning to PP on the farm...my Dad set up poles in milk jugs filled w/ sand and I took the longest car he had then ('85 Lincoln Town Car) and practiced with it...serious blind spots w/ the tiny rear window and thick C-pillars, but super-light power steering. I did my driving test in his '84 Ford Escort diesel, much easier to PP.1 point

Not to worry - people are streaming out of big cities to live elsewhere, and there's no entertainment industry left to pull those outside the city, in.1 point

^ That was my impression watching the 'smaht pahk' commercial - it takes far longer than conventionally. Tech should make things easier, not more convoluted & take longer.1 point

My partner has got one (Tesla). Two of my immediate neighbors have got EVs. (Both Teslas). One of those neighbors had a 1st gen Volt. A mom of one of the girls I coach in softball has got one. (Tesla) And I shoot the shyte with ALL them regarding their EV ownership. And guess what? None of YOUR fears, and fake EV news relate to their world of EV ownership, dipshyte.1 point

You can say 'until exactly what I want comes along and I decide to buy one' all day long, but that runs dangerously close to the 'vaporware' scenario. IMO - either support both until you make the switch & divest yourself of IC, or stop bashing other people's preferences. Again, just one guy's opinion. BTW : 'oil-dripping, smoke spewing' comments certainly could fall under 'fake IC info'.1 point

Took my Jeep out yesterday on my first road trip in it of the year..drove almost 250 miles of freeway, small town and hilly backroad driving around E. Ohio....averaged 25.8 mpg. Not bad! Felt good to get out of the house for a few hours..hardest part of road tripping in pandemic times is finding a bathroom..1 point

I agree, I really dislike the exterior. I thought maybe in person it looks better, but I recently saw one on the road and it doesn't. The interior looks very good.1 point
-
I do not like the exterior styling at all, but it stands out and that will appeal to many. The interior styling I think is a home run (except for that steering wheel, which wouldn't make me walk away). Hyundai went above and beyond with this.1 point

Seattle down town bookings are off 60%, so 60% more space for manual parking. Yet that is the easiest parking for you, the owner of SUV/CUV where you can just put the front wheel up on the curb and gently let it back off once you pull in tight. Always close to the curb. My daughter who is terrible at parallel parking , I showed her to how do that with her Durango, Boom issue solved and she was always close and tight. Yea a few tire scrapes, but heck easy P parking.0 points

Been a while since I gave an update. Unfortunately this is not the greatest update. The wife was visiting a friend and was parked on a residential street and somebody driving a new Ram truck and not paying attention ran into the van. It is about the widest residential street you will ever see as it is a legit 4 lanes wide so you can easily have cars parked on either side and still comfortably have two cars pass each other going opposite ways. Thankfully (or not, I guess, since it wasn't totalled), there was no structural damage. Unfortunately it wasn't fixed before the state shut down so that added a bit of extra time to the repair. Wound up taking almost seven weeks but we have it back and they did a nice job on it. For the most part it looks as good as new. Other than that, we still love this thing. It had close to 28k miles on it when it get hit and between the length of the repair and the fact we aren't really allowed to go anywhere that is pretty much where it has stayed for the past 2 plus months. The GPS failed a couple days before it got hit and they did check that out while it was in being fixed. They ordered a new radio to fix that issue but it still hasn't come in yet.0 points

Isn't it a shame after 22k miles? And the internet is full of hits on the issues. Hey statue, if GM, the inventor of the fully automatic transmission and the most successful manufacturer of them with their world famous Hydramatic Division, cannot manufacture a trouble-free unit after making untold MILLIONS of them... what on Earth makes you think they'll be able to manufacture a decent EV, which is, face it, new and relatively untested? Look at Volkswagen, a formidable manufacturer in their own right, getting PANNED in their home turf automotive press for their new ID.3, and all of the problems they've had up to now launching the thing. You're going to be in a world of hurt if you believe EV's are going to be perfection personified in rare earth metals and petroleum-based plastics.-1 points
