  1. That’s just not true about past products. The only manufacturer that is consistently tight on the Show to Release window is Honda. All of the others have been all over the place. The Camaro and Bronco had a long run up to production. Production can start as early as May 2024 and it will still be a 2025 model…. So 12 months. That’s actually pretty typical for everyone except Honda for a new model.

  2. Yeah, the rear pretty much has the same exact issue going on.. It just sucks to look at. That's disappointing to me because I'm on board with EVs and I've pretty much loved the S Class since 2000.. but their blend of those two things is just horrible.

  3. So it's more of an "everybody has an issue" type of thing, right? The only truly reasonably priced EVs are the Bolt, Bolt EUV and Leaf. Everything else is pretty insane for the size of vehicle you're getting.

  4. You can now install Cheers & Gears as an app on your phone and tablet. It's not in the app store; it's called a Progressive Web App, or PWA for short. The advantages are you can get notifications on your phone (don't worry, they're configurable, I'll show you further down) when someone replies to your post or sends you a message. iOS (16.4 and up) Make sure you're on the latest iOS version. iOS 16.4 was released on March 27th, 2023 and is the minimum for this process to work on Apple devices. On iOS devices, open Cheers & Gears in Safari and click the share icon at the bottom of the Safari window. Then scroll down to Add to Homescreen. Tada! You now have an icon for Cheers & Gears. Android I don't know the minimum Android version, but it works on a Pixel XL running Android 10 from September 2019, if your device is older than that, it's time for a new phone. On Android devices, open Cheers & Gears in Chrome Click the three verticle dots in the upper right corner and scroll down to Install. This will add Cheers & Gears to your app drawer and you'll need to move it to your home screen if you wish. On both iOS and Android, you will need to log in from your new app icon before proceeding. Both systems treat this as a new app and will not copy your login from Safari or Chrome. Adjusting Notifications Now that you have the app installed, you may want to adjust your settings. From inside the new app, after you've logged in, click the Menu Hamburger icon in the upper right, click the notification bell, then click notification settings or click this link Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the section "Notification Types Available" and enable notifications. Once enabled, scroll up and adjust the various content types to your liking. To get notifications on your phone, select the Notification + Push Option. Now that I'm getting notifications on my phone, I also uncheck the e-mail notification option to keep my inbox clean. The PWA does not yet support notification badges, but I expect it will soon. Enabling this technology on the iOS side was a bit of a surprise from Apple in the recent update, so the software developer that makes the software for Cheers & Gears wasn't super ready for it.

  5. Hyundai today released images of their latest Hyundai Sonata refresh for 2024. This is a rather quick turnaround as the current Hyundai Sonata was released in 2019 as a 2020 model. This could be the last hurrah for the Sonata because it is rumored that Hyundai will ax the Sonata nameplate at the end of this run. While the current Sonata is one of the more handsome designs in the dwindling sedan market, Hyundai felt the refresh was necessary to bring the Sonata in line with their EV lineup. The visual similarities between the 2024 Sonata and the recently released Hyundai Ioniq 6 aren't by accident. While riding on the same platform, externally, the 2024 Sonata adopts the wide front-end styling of the Ioniq 6, including a full-width and seamless LED bar. Headlamps are camouflaged low into the bumper area, leaving viewers with the expectation that headlights should pop up from somewhere. The tail light bar gets a similar treatment with obvious edges in the new H-lights. The interior of the Sonata has also been refreshed with this horizontal theme similar to the Ioniq 6. A first the any Hyundai model, the panoramic curved display combines both the 12.3-inch driver cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment unit. Hyundai must have noticed the recent pushback on all-touch controls at competitors because they left physical buttons for climate control and some entertainment functions. Similar to the drive selector in the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, the gear selector in the Sonata has become a stalk on the steering column. This opens up the center console space to the driver. Standard and N-Line variants will be available. Powertrain details will be released later, but we expect much to carry over from the existing car. The 2024 Sonata officially debuts at the Seoul Mobility Show on March 30th and will go on sale in the U.S. later this year.

  6. At New York International Auto Show today, Ram unveiled the all-new Ram 1500 REV truck. The version released today is all-electric and available in 350-mile or 500-mile configurations. Later, a REV XR version with an onboard regenerator will be offered to allow even greater distances. The 1500 REV boasts longer ranges than the Ford F-150 Lighting (230 miles or 320 miles) and the coming Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV twins (up to 400 miles), and the Rivian R1T (260+ to 320+ miles, a Max Pack battery with 400 miles has been promised, but never delivered). The Tesla Cybertruck claims to have a 500-mile range. However, the permanently delayed truck has yet to go on sale. Ram also claims to have the fastest charging speed, with the ability to add up to 110 miles per 10 minutes of charging when connected to an 800-volt DC Fast Charger. The 1500 REV walks away with the towing capacity title and a brawny 14,000 lbs. The Ford and Chevy are rated for 10,000 lbs, while the Rivian R1T goes to 11. Update 4/6: A Stellantis representative confirmed today that the Ram 1500 REV will have a heat pump for cabin HVAC. This should minimize range degradation in cold weather. Ram 1500 REV sits on Stellantis' all-new STLA body-on-frame architecture specificaly designed for electric vehicles. This new platform allows for efficient battery packaging with a wider section in the middle to accommodate a larger battery pack. Vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid gives the 1500 REV the ability to charge other EVs, provide backup power to a building, or even sell power back to the grid. Power panels onboard can provide 7.2 kW from the bed or an optional additional 3.6 kW in the frunk. Ram is aiming for a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, 654 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, and up to 24 inches of water fording capability. Range is helped by a class-leading 0.340 coefficient of drag, made possible in part by the full-length aero belly pan. Advanced air and multi-link suspension with active dampening are standard. Power comes from twin 250-kW electric drive motors. The front unit can automatically disconnect a wheel to allow free spin in certain situations while the rear utilizes a limited-slip differential. The Ram 1500 REV wouldn't be an all-new vehicle without some autonomous driving capabilities, and it delivers with an automated parking system and eyes-on-road hands-free driving. Inside is an interior geared towards luxury with carbon fiber, metal, and leather materials. In the center is a new 14.5-inch touchscreen with UConnect 5, a 12.3-digital gauge cluster, and an available 10.25-inch passenger display. Also available are a digital rearview mirror, Heads-up Display, high-end Klipsch Reference Premier audio system with 23 speakers, 24-way power seats with heat, cooling, and massage. Smartphone as a Key, using the Ram app, allows customers to enjoy a truly keyless experience. The digital key can also be shared with other smartphones with full control over access. If the phone is lost or without power, a wallet card can be carried for access. The 2025 Ram 1500 REV will be available sometime next year.

  7. Honda / Acura is really behind on EVs. That's why they're using GM's Ultium and partnering with Sony for everything.

  8. You mean the company that hasn't changed the design of their first sedan since it came out in 2013 (save for bits and unnoticeable pieces)? It's 2023 and we talking 2025, a whole TWO years. I've seen longer future talk and any number of companies since well, ever. That is not a new practice. It only seems that no because companies are attempting to push a lot of product in a relatively short period of time. About the delays hell, it could show up one year late and still be ready to actually sell before the Cybertruck (a joke but I'm really not that far off). As long as they don't have a Tesla like delay with it, they will be fine. EV dude. EV. That is why. They spent billions on EVs so advertise now, not two months before it actually comes out like old GM. It's not rocket science.

  9. Thank you! This year of Firebird over the equivalent year of Camaro. Easy. This was the top of the heap for the Firebird, whether base, Esprit, Formula, or Trans Am. With their revised front fascias, '77 and '78 were cringeworthy. - - - - - Here we go. One periodically sees what celebs are up to on one's homepage, so I Googled "Deborah Harry today," and of all the images that came up, this one was the klassiest. She's better behaved in the other photos.

  13. @surreal1272 @ccap41 @smk4565 Todays press release for the EV9 is pretty much a release of what I covered here in the story, but they did add the following to the press release. INTRODUCING THE 2024 KIA EV9: MODERN REFINEMENT AND ALL-ELECTRIC CAPABILITY ESTABLISH A NEW INDUSTRY TOUCHSTONE (kiamedia.com) EV9 Availability The EV9 is expected to debut in the U.S. in Q4 2023, and it is expected to be assembled in West Point, Ga., beginning in 2024, making it the first Kia EV to be assembled locally.* Pricing, timing for U.S. market availability, specific trim details, and EPA-rated AER for the EV9 are subject to future announcements. This pretty much tells us that in Q4 of 2023 we will get pricing on their first made in America EV.

  15. I think that leads to the jellybean styling though so, I kind of agree with him there. While it isn't the entire issue with their aesthetics, I think it's a big part in how it's all shaped together. If you brought that down it would look much more S Class-like, which I think everybody agrees is an attractive shape. Also, sorry for the garbage drawing on the EQS, I can't smoothly navigate a mouse to draw for the life of me. Hahaha

  16. Ford is taking the frustration out of lining up to your trailer. At the New York Auto Show today, Ford will unveil Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, an A.I. powered driver's assist technology that uses machine learning to automatically line the truck up to the trailer. From distances of up to approximately 20 feet, the system uses the rear camera and two corner radar units to control the truck's speed, steering, and braking while the driver monitors the progress. Computer vision learning uses the truck's rear camera to identify the ball and trailer coupler. If the system detects an obstacle while in operation, it will alert the driver and stop the vehicle. Ford used hundreds of hours of video were collected to help train the system initially, but Pro-Trailer Hitch Assist will get smarter over time as more trailer image data is added and the vehicle's Ford Power-Up system receives over-the-air updates. The system will work in a broad range of terrain and weather conditions. Ford developed the technology in-house and has received 60 patents with 4 more pending. Pro-Trailer Hitch Assist is available now in the 2023 F-150, F-150 Lightning, and all-new 2023 F-series Super Duty. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist_04.mp4

  18. I find it highly suspect that GM is #2 on that list. I expect they are being outsold by Hyundai. Hyundai and Kia count their sales separately, but Genesis sales get counted in with Hyundai as the parent company. Even if GM is actually number 2, the Ioniq 6, GV60, and GV70E are on the lots today, so that position won't last long. Ultium production ramp-up is painfully slow. The Hummers were on a stop-sale for the entire first quarter. I'm not expecting to see my EValanche until 2025 at the very earliest.

  20. Update, seems GM has taken the #2 spot in the U.S. for EV sales. GM passes Ford to take No. 2 spot in EV sales behind Tesla | AP News GM is now the second-largest EV maker in the US | Engadget January to March EV Deliveries: Tesla - 161,630 GM - 20,670 Ford - 10,866 Volkswagen - 9,658 Hyundai Kia Interesting is that no one says what Hyundai / Kia EV sales are and looking at their quarterly reports, they do not break them out of overall sales. AP News does state that at this time in 2022, EVs made up a 5.8% market share in the U.S. and now 1 year later it is 7.2% or just over 258,000 EVs sold in the U.S for the first quarter putting the U.S. market on track to sell 1 million plus EVs this year.

  25. The Firebird pic went away from this website, I found it again so I could re-post it. Its a beautiful picture. Beautiful scene. Beautiful car. But just in case it goes away again, I will find another convertible Firebird to post to compensate and for us to enjoy another beautiful car that is the 1st gen Firebird.

  26. They are way behind, but using advertising dollars on a CGI or clay model of a concept car that is way far from production, vs using your advertising on Inegras or RDX's that you can sell today makes no sense. This isn't even close to proaction, yet was getting advertising spend 6 months ago. So deep down they know ICE is dead and Tesla will pass Honda in 2025 I bet. As far as the Ram REV goes, it looks like they are positioning this as a $100k luxury truck, when they need a volume $50k truck. Maybe that will follow, but they better get it going fast or the Cybertruck will take all Ram's sales too, because Tesla will have scale.
