  1. Excited as I like this new CUV, but hate the Engine. Not a fan of these high HP, low torque engines.
  2. So true as to why I have my Escalade. The best Road tripping ride around for Full size. The Jeeps are awesome as a mid size suv for road trips too. So many awesome options.
  3. Understandable and yet I wonder of the geography of the area to Europe or Asia is playing a role. I do not know of any middle income folks and especially high tech engineers who own and drive VW products. Here you fall into two camps, the German crowd or the Asian Crowd if single or married no kids. Families here in Washington seem to be all American Detroit companies in relations to luxury SUVs / CUVs.
  4. Yea, pretty much figure it would have taken triple that time in an EV due to the lack of Infastructure for XFC systems. XFC = Xtreme Fast Chargers That is the new top end spec and is what will allow charging a car with a 300 mile range battery pack in less than 15 min.
  5. Interesting the differences in geography for auto sales. Makes one wonder if relation to Europe or Asia also is playing a part in how the products sell.
  6. Yes as long as idiots continue to elect Baby Boomers who should be off playing golf rather than trying to hold the US to their 1950-70's view of the world, we will not lead any longer. Hate to say it but their needs to be an age restriction for elected officials. 65, you are no longer able to run for office. We need young energetic blood in office and term limits. So sad that we have given up leadership and ingenuity for the sake of status quo.
  7. Very true, you see plenty of VW in the Low Income housing area due to their zero down sign and buy events they push here, but VW's auto's are trashy and plenty of them have zip ties and rivets holding them together. VW is an auto company that just does not build reliable products that last. Sadly the Hippie population is still in love with the garbage as is those that cannot seem to get approved by any other OEM. They go to VW and VW honestly must expect a 75% lack of payment out of their buyers since so many are sold cheap into the worst credit group around. Impressions make a difference and owning / driving a VW is not looked on favorably. Probably why so few dealerships exist around my state.
  8. So true, why would anyone want to lower their standards to own a VW. Sorry to all the VW lovers, but VW auto's just suck in quality. True in regards to Tesla, very much a rich persons toy and for the Tech minded set. I also agree that GM needs to get off their ass and expand the VOLT powertrain into more CUV's as they also push the bolt tech into a few better looking auto's even though I like what they have now. Diesels only place is commercial trucks and buses as that area works to move over to EV's and personal Trucks . In regards to cars, I see this Cruze as the last of them. So many cleaner options that are less complex and better than a diesel car.
  9. Exactly, so are they going to cut out the floor area and weld in the type that is needed along with the fire wall? Seems a half ass job in my mind and not worth it from a price standpoint.
  10. It is a mind set that sadly needs to be pushed from gov down. The west coast where the Gov's have pushed this with the electric highway and rebates is far ahead of the rest of the US. You can easily make a road trip in an EV. Also both the Bolt and Leaf are everywhere. Yes you hear plenty of people that want bigger battery packs for longer driving, but that has not stopped even the i3 from BMW or Hyundai's Ioniq EV both with roughly 100 miles range from selling. Right now EV's are the ultimate commuter auto. Quiet, you can refill them at home with fresh electrons and the maintenance is very low compared to ICE. Biggest issue with EV's is range and design / interior as many people want their existing auto's with a 300 mile range and they would flip without thinking about it to an EV. Yet with the BOLT, our plan to buy one went dead as the wife could not get over the white V in the dash, she hated the contrast and wanted a basic all black dash. Someone did not do their market research. Nissan at least got the dash right in terms of color.
  11. Wonder how much work is involved in ripping out the dash and pedals and reworking the auto to be right side driven? Seems this would be expensive and not worth it, but then the prices being paid there are crazy high too.
  12. In europe are they not already doing that with the heavy Unions and companies like Airbus?
  13. Cigs are now expected to die fast in states that have legalized Pot. Now you can sit around all day and be stoned and stupid rather than just offensive and stupid as a cig smoker. Course reality is that gov's will have to find a way to keep the jobs of workers in areas that are going to be killed off. So I guess incentives to build more battery factories, ev motor plants, etc. and move the workers over to that?
  14. Yup as they still have not hit it to be a big seller since you do not see many s class around either. Course you will say it is still the worlds best selling top end luxury sedan. Does not mean it is that big of a hit. Especially when you see the amount of so called luxury SUV/CUV's.
  15. Agree with @smk4565 that Europe will end up killing off Diesel and Gas auto's in today's form. Hybrid and EV are the future. Once Germany is on board, the rest will then follow since Germany, France and UK will have them scheduled for end of life. 23 or 13 years either way, is plenty of time to move to new technology for personal transportation.
  16. Not an issue about the Oil as I think Natural Gas is a better fuel. Yet we are seeing major climate change and need to think about a better balance of living on the planet with a healthier world for all. That means we need to cut the green house gas output. Auto's are one way to do that.
  17. So France and UK has banded them, Germany is considering it. I figure if Germany does it, then the rest of EU will and over the next 10 to 20 years, Diesel will dwindle to nothing there except for commercial trucks and buses. Everything else will go hybrid / EV. This will also kill it for pretty much the rest of the world too. After all China has banned Diesel auto's now and is aggressively moving to Hybrid / EV.
  18. Another Nail in Diesel auto's, UK is banning them and has set a deadline for Gas auto's too. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-40731164
  19. Easy, If GM or Ford cares to conquest the Honda Coupe buyers, then you take the Honda crappy coupes and put them up against the Turbo 4 bangers and V6 engined Camaro or Mustang. Give them a free drive and compare. I bet you could convince many to make the change. Best way would be to find them in the rental fleets and put them up against the products. Comparison is the only way I can see these people realizing they have better options that are American Options. Otherwise the Asian Lemmings will just move over to some other Asian Lemming auto when no coupe is available. Millennials, what more can be said! No concept of a freedom machine and a way to take a girl out.
  20. Understandable, VW Diesel buyers are a very hard core group. I wish him luck with his Sprinter Camper. The quality of that MB product is the worse ever and now that the Camper vans have been out, I am not seeing anything better in regards to their quality or lack of high cost repairs. Agreed, The Diesel should have had the Premium package minimum since your already have the higher cost diesel. The RS Trim should be base model on this car. While I agree that Diesel is a bad investment for any company now, I think GM already had gone down the road to far to turn back or just shut it down and so you have this car. I doubt GM will do another. In regards to HCCI, I have not seen anything that continues to show success and durability in a HCCI Gas engine. I expect more Hybirds like the VOLT than HCCI engines over the next 5 years. Course many will be CUV's.
  21. Love your write up William, especially the first sentence. Very cool to read how the test drive went for you. FYI - I checked with the local Chevy Dealership, you can order the parts so I bet if you really wanted, you could buy the RS body parts, have them painted and put on and boom, RS inspired Diesel. That would rock! Yes totally agree that the RS package Sedan is better looking than the normal Diesel package sedan.
  22. Maybe he is already doing that, after all we cloned Dolly! Far better auto than the Tesla 3!
  23. Sweet, so nice to see putting both the diesel and def in one place to fill. So much better than other implementations.
  24. Totally agree, always nice to have a comfort zone of space for those times you need the extra. Plus weather can also play a role, so just nice to have the added beef of a 3/4-ton diesel.
  25. Doing this from work, so sorry, no pics: Top 5 V10 production auto's Ram 2006 SRT-10 1999 Viper ACR 2005 Ford Excursion 2016 Force 1 V10 from VLF (link) (2nd Link) (3rd Link) 2015 VW Touareg V10 TDI We'll tried to stay all American, but just could not find any other auto even historical ones so VW won out.
