  1. Generation 1 dodge durango sitting next to the current durango at the park n ride lot this morning. Amazing how well the new durango is executed to capture the same size and body style that made the first generation such a home run success.
  2. Sadly Ford continues to take on a Half Ass approach to building auto's in the attitude that customers will continue to buy plastic cheaply built auto's. Their day is coming, Ford like GM and Chrysler should have filed for Bankruptcy and dumped all their old over paid pension garbage to clean up and right size the company and then moved forward with clearing out the executive line and building quality auto's. Instead, the Ford Family continues to hurt FORD rather than help it and this shows in the auto's. IMHO
  3. Personally best to just buy a workstation system that has the dual or quad core CPU's on the motherboard. You can get a heck of a deal from DELL on a Quad Core, Dual CPU workstation.
  4. WoW April Fools and I totally forgot about it this year.
  5. Happy B Day Ocn, Hope you get all that you wished for and wanted. Have an Outstanding Day! You deserve it.
  6. Worse yet is that Delphi has testified that they knew the parts did not meet GM spec which they signed on to build to spec and then they still created the part and delivered it to GM. Delphi needs to be pulled in front for their own lack of follow through on the contracts rather than be a pointing finger at GM. YES OLD GM screwed up and those people should pay. Delphi also screwed up and should pay. I agree with Hyperv6 that Mary is showing to be a good leader and leading by example by jumping on the issues to resolve and fix them rather than sweeping them under the carpet.
  7. This popped up after I watched your Tahoe video above. Love this new escalade and the new 6.2 L V8. They address that this engine has a new DI design that eliminates the ticking noise people hear on Direct Injection engines. Should be very cool to drive.
  8. Thanks for posting. A year ago I had suggested to the GMC that they do a black edition Yukon. Metallic black paint job with Black Chrome rims and black chrome accents. While nice, there is still something missing from this Tahoe that says shortcut to me. Sad.
  9. Caddycruiser your comment I find interesting as has others about the Impala and Malibu. It makes me wonder if Chevy would not be better served by killing off one or both of these auto's and building one much better quality car to serve the mid size market.
  10. Very true, unless they are heavily profitable which Mitsu is not they will have to cut out the flare of a low volume fun model like the Evolution and go after mass market models. It is understandable.
  11. They are at least keeping around 500 per month in sales so it is not entirely dead.
  12. Sad to see current new executives that had no control and no ability to affect the decisions get thrown around like this. They should be pulling the idiots from that time period back in front of congress and confiscating the money they took as pay during those periods. Clearly cared more about how much money they could steal from GM than the products and what would happen to others.
  13. PCIE 16X CPU CARD This is a industry standard current card much like Blade Servers but for use in the telco industry and other industry specific vertical markets. Not cheap and while allows a very dense system as the box usually has 10 to 20 PCIE 16x card slots they also have a specialty slot to support and allow coworking of multiple cards. Over all not price reasonable in todays current disposable market with price leaders going so cheap.
  14. Europe is going to be the next big pain point. They have not had to deal with Major readjustment yet in their way to much capacity of assembly lines. The Unions think they can hold the country gov's to keeping everythin open and status quo yet they have not grasped that in todays global economy, adjustment have to be made now. I suspect we will see in the next 24 months massive plant closings as companies realign production to meet actual needs. Some of this will also come via moving production to other counteries with lower labor costs.
  15. Interesting write up, so clearly FORD still has a ways to go to get more competative with a solid product is what I get out of this. Thanks for taking the time to drive and write this up.
  16. Saw a Tesla this morning being flatbedded by Mac towing services. Not sure if it broke down or just ran out of charge. Thinking about this, I guess for the absent minded, if they forget to charge and drive off, they for now will have to be towed till AAA or some other company figures out how to deliver a 220V charge to power these auto's.
  17. Can anyone explain the trend of going to the Large Mouth Billy Bass grill? Is this due to the amount of air needed for these overworked little turbo motors?
  18. Consolidation is the oxygen to the auto industry surviving. I see more than just 5 or 6 companies but I do see many folding into others to survive.
  19. Consolidation and then bring out the new toys is fine with me.
  20. I would take the Diesel over the Eco any day. The Diesel will far out last the eco model.
  21. Cool to see, sorry to have it come at the last minute, to little to late and as we all know, the high cost of manufacturing is not helping them down under.
  22. I know in various threads some have pounded on GM for still being the old GM. Yet with this said, once needs to aknowledge just how far they have come in a short time period and how fast they are responding to issues that show up in their auto's. While everyone would love an auto to be perfect from day one, at least it would seem that GM is having the engineers do long term testing and as issues show up they are responding to fixing them. The old GM never responded as fast to issues as the new GM is doing. As an engineer we do everything we can to test and make sure an product is 100% out the door and yet you cannot build an auto in 2-3 yeras and know the long term outcome of using new metals, new liquids, etc. In the early stages you do end up with having some tweaking to be done and at least while this seems to be done for the new GM auto's at least GM is also responding by taking care of issues pre-bankruptcy and correcting what past mgmt was passing the buck on. Happy to see the responses of GM to new Auto issues.
