  1. It is sad I know someone who has a relationship with Rick. She is someone who has a few ties to GM that run very deep. She always said was a kind and bright guy he is, the kind you could have over for BBQ. I have no reason to doubt her good judgement. Wagoner did for better or worse did get a GM handed to him that was on the edge but if no big problems (the current one) came up prolly would have dug out okay and the last Union talks went very well. Rick deserves lots of credit, I know around here he might not have many fans, but I am one of them. When people compare GM to small biz that is sad and not the same a large biz can take larger hits than a little one and GM did. Sad sure, but not Ricks fault. I don't want to get political like him or not, not every bad thing that happend or even most bad things that happen, were because of G.W.B over the last eight years think about it. Just like from 92-00 every bad thing was Clinton's fault, totally not true. I feel bad for Rick he is a good guy I would give him a few more years, I think he can do alot with a little more money and freedom. He has proven himself effective in working with people in my view. For the reccord IF he left, bring in Lutz, because just like Wagoner I really do like Lutz. He is a real car guy but also realizes you have to deal with CAFE and the rising price of oil, but keep doing fun and desirable cars.
  2. Well written letter although I disagree with some of it, something has to happen to GM. OC I agree Michael Moore is a total idot he wouldn't know a damn thing unless it bit his f*t a$$. The man wants to see the industry burn to the ground totally with or without restrucuturing or a loan. Moore is an idot who always has and always will hate this great nation. Democrate or Republican alike should find this mans comments disgusting and it is people like this that don't inspire healthly debate but dump on our pride and our product that need to eat grass. Moore try to get your big mouth around my Bonneville's large oval exhaust tips I'll be sure to give you some extra carbon and gas. Smug b*stard, I bet he is driving a Toyota. I would go one step futher to insure this won't happen again the UAW/GM need to make adjustments in wages/perks and do some restructing if they are allowed the bailout, in order to ensure long term sucess of these vital American Compaines. Just throwing money at them no strings attached as far as restructuring/adjusting is just plain foolish. Personally GM screwed up letting the UAW get to big and kept saying yes to unresonable things, part was the Union wanting to clean GM's clock (more for the Union boys), the goverment with unfair trade policy (a little protectionism would have gone along way not that I am fan of it), and add in to the Goverment in Japan always kicking in and sliding Toyota a few more bucks so they can keep getting bigger in the US. I think they need money but if they get it they must restructure and prove they won't burn it on silly things, they also need to repeal CAFE it kills the compaines and reduces the demand from consumers for efficent cars. It also then takes away fun ones. :angry2: The goverment saying this is how it should be never works it failed once it will fail again do you recall the 70's and 80's. CAFE solves nothing but strangles ever company even the do no wrong "GREEN" Toyota hates it. My last comment is have you ever seen how hard it is to sell a GM car in Japan? But yet it is so easy to sell a sh*t-box Toyota in the USA? Sickening this is where society has taken us. I think many can agree despite our politcial leanings where we our today with Toyota being so acceptable in this country for crummy product is crazy. At least if you buy from Japan get a Honda or Nissan.
  3. I agree with the CTS that G8 is also a rebel to a certain extent.
  4. Ahhh people liked him not me. Find a new one he prolly wanted too much anyways.
  5. And sadly that is the only reason they sell not because it is a good car of a great quality vehicle. If you want that get the new Insight that has to have Toyota worried because it looks better and prolly won't suck. I happen to really like the new Honda Insight tho, and once again IF I got an import it would be a Honda no questions.
  6. I would fly to PA to see that... The Prius thing that is.
  7. They need to offer good performance and knock out styling on everything from small and affordable cars to mid-priced high performance coupes/sedans aka G8. They also need a mix of FWD, AWD and RWD with a dual kidney grille signature Pontiac styling and orange/red lighting.
  8. I agree but it is fuel efficent and made in Cali.
  9. How I got hooked... My father was always buying and trading his cars, it was his one "joy" in life. He started out with Fords when I was really young late 50's, eventually he moved onto Pontiacs the first a '65 389ci. Catalina Sedan then a '67 400ci. Catalina Sedan, '69 428ci. Executive Sedan then a '71 455ci. Bonneville Sedan in Aztec Gold (that I owned for a while), '77 301ci. Bonnevile Sedan (that I owned). My father got very sick in the early 70's after he got his first Bonneville and never got around to getting another one until '77. I owned both '71 for a while and the '77 for nearly 10 years until trading it on my 90 GP. My father someday vowed he would own a Cadillac he owned not only one but two! I recall him saying that since I was only 10! My dad then got an 1982 Olds Delta 88 in Gray 307ci. then a 1986 Olds 98 231ci. Cream (his first and only six) then a 1989 Sedan Deville Antalope Firemist 4.5L, and lastly his 1992 Sedan Deville 4.9 in White I owned for a few years. My dad and his obvious passion for GM cars was passed onto me and has made a lasting impression on me. I recall going out with paste wax and waxxing the '65, '67, '69, '71, and even the '77 when I was home from college. I helped him with his cars until his health stopped him then I just took care of them for him. I cared for the '92 Deville well after his death in 1994, my mom kept the car in his memory and loved the Cadillac ride. I took care of the car until I got it in 2003 from my mothers estate as passed away in 2003. You must keep in mind in 2003 I had the GP, Deville, and Impala. With my son learning to drive I kept all three cars around so if the need came for a third car we would have it. Gas prices kept going up and I got sick of putting premium in it, so when my son told me about the Bonneville being dropped I took some interest in getting one. I had always talked about getting one just like 'dads' but we all know how that goes. In 1990 I almost got a 1991 white SSE but the price ultimately kept me back to the GP. My son found my Bonneville SLE with 3800 miles on with everything but leather and a moonroof just the way I would have ordered in a neighboring small town at a HUGE car dealer. I was snuckered but my wife made me trade the Deville on her. I did with a heavy heart, but my dad would have been pleased none the less. I got my Bonneville in June 2005 I promised my wife the next car would be her little SUV she really liked the Equinox and so did I. I then found out about the introduction of the Torrent, and put off any purchase until it arrived. I took a good look at them in 2006 at a local car show and liked them alot. My wife did as well, we still weren't ready to buy and prices were more than what I was willing to pay so we waited... Waited... Until I found out there was going to be a revamped interior the Torrent got pushed off another year. My son started looking for us like he did with the SLE in 2005 on the net late the summer '07 for deals on new or slightly used 07's one sold out from under me, we even looked a mint '01 Aurora! Still nothing was right then my son found the purple 2007 200 miles away on a dealers lot with chrome wheels (PA2 style a must for me and my wife) and just cruise in FWD so I took a look at it and used my maxed out GM card and took advantage of a great deal in January of 2008. We had over 7,500 off sticker on it! So here we sit my daughter and son now have started to fight over the gold Chevrolet so thus it brings me to my idea about a 98-99 SSE L36 or 2000-2002 Firebird L36 Coupe/Hardtop for my son during the week and me to play on during the weekend. That is my story with the boring details. (I love those!)
  10. I don't agree with you on everything, but you are right on about this one. They need this money and in addition to that if they get the money they need to change their buisness model and get costs down to Toyota/Honda levels. This is what they needed to do the first time, they need GM owners and also workers from all around this great nation. As for the idea of a Caravan I think it started here first. :AH-HA_wink:
  11. The Tundra is total junk. Sorry a bad tailgate, snapping cam-shafts, torque converter problems, sup-par interior even Toyota can't find a way to defend it.
  12. So was my 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville, god I miss that ole' girl.
  13. I agree on the GMT-360's.
  14. Thanks for the photographs those Old Benz's are very cool.
  15. Satty I would never get a Tundra, but the Titan is a pretty good truck actually. I know someone with one, it saved him from a Tundra.
  16. The G6 is not a rebadge it is a platform mate. As for the G3, G5 and Torrent they are so yes. It did work on the W-cars they sold like crazy. The GMT-360's did get crazy, it should have been TB, Envoy, Bravada then Rainier. Saab should have sucked it up without an SUV and Isuzu never deversed one. As I recall Pontiac has the Solstice and Saturn got the rebadge, yes it is a two way street.
  17. I know two people with SRT-8 Chrysler LX cars one a 300C SRT-8 the other a Charger SRT-8. Around here the Charger R/T's a somewhat common. Way more so than the base SE model. As for the 300's most you see are mid-level touring or 300C AWD. They have been a more popular product than I orginally thought, I do think G8 will start selling better once the market looks up but I do suspect alot of GXP's will find ways home into "car guy" hands.
  18. The 350 would be sweet in that car. You would love the extra power.
  19. I don't doubt it. 1.85
  20. Then I disagree with on how to get to that point of GM being sucessful.
  21. Ahh I am seriously doubting the G37 will out-run a 4000lb 415hp V8 powered car.
  22. I disagree you think CAFE is irrelevant think again. The G8 GXP is going to be a great car at price. We can go back and forth on what is going to cost as long as it is under 40K it wil sell. I will say this 13,000 G8's is better than none. The G8 line has merits trust me. It is doing wonders to Pontiac image, especially the GXP. Pontiac still has an image but Pontiac like they did throughout there entire life has offered a wide range of vehicles for everyone. I agree, the G3 is a good little car and it ISN'T my thing either but it will sell pretty well. I would love to see a car aimed at the Si or Cooper S but right now money is tight and if a G3 is what we get than I am happy. The G8 which I have ridden in had excellent quality and fit and finish in a car in that price range. Also the G8 dash board is very appealing and sporty which works for Pontiac, do you honestly just dislike GM or what?
  23. Can we have photos of the Benz's? I love those big cars, so they came with your house or your sisters I am a little mixed up. Either way they are sweet a$$ cars.
  24. Gas much be cheap in MO Satty? Do you all have a low gas tax or what?
