  1. Me too. My partner's Model S is as reliable as any other vehicle out there. No major issues. Lots of bitchin' about fit and finish and all that. Again, with his car, not much different than any other car... even as compared to other vehicles in that price range... Quality of materials may not be up to that price tag's standard's, but he didnt buy a Model S for the quality of materials. But a Tesla is not about prestigious interiors anyway! He didnt buy it for the speed either. He bought it to get off of oil. And to him, the price of admission was well worth it. I laugh, even at @David when people bitch at Tesla's fit and finish. Its mostly much ado about nothing. My wife's 2013 Ford Fusion has Tesla levels of fit and finish...On the exterior as the interior is good on the Fusion. My wife's car before the Fusion, a 2009 Mazda 3, also had Tesla levels of fit and finish. On the inside too. My car before my Acura, a 2005 Impala SS. Well....THAT car had Tesla levels of fit and finish. Interior AND exterior. People bitch about Tesla's paint jobs... All MY cars mentioned, the Mazda 3, The Ford Fusion, the Chevy Impala...they ALL had shyte paint jobs one way or other. The Fusion has orange peel near the license plate area in the back. The hood, which is aluminum I think, well, its starting to peel off at the top of the hood little by little. The Impala had paint starting to peel off at the rear wheel wells. The Mazda had thin thin paint. The Fusion's chromed trim on the C Pillar fell off. BOTH sides. I had to get those replaced 6 months after ownership. There was an eventual recall on that. Or a bulletin report... Ive never seen more cheap interiors than that of the Mazda AND the Impala. The Mazda is an econobox. OK. But for the amounts of times Ive heard bitching and moaning about Cavaliers and Sunbirds...I think it wasnt fair for the J-Body to get that kind of heat when 200 years later, the Mazda 3 was WORSE than the J-Body... The Impala...there is no phoquing excuse for that kind of cheapness. The Impala SS cost me 40 000 Canadian to buy. And I know GM got heat for cheap interiors, no where near the bitchin' that Tesla gets. Tesla is still a new car company. What is FoMoCo's and GM's excuse? Mazda's? Mazda has been around a long time too... @David I aint gonna touch your Escalade. But your Trailblazer SS is fair game. Do NOT tell me that your Trailblazer SS's interior is worth the price that it was sold as new. Because it wasnt! You could defend it, but as vocal as you are about Tesla, I would expect that you are as harsh about your own Trailblazer as you are about Tesla... I say that with love!
  2. Says the CEO of the company whose EVs get bitched slapped by Tesla EVs in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY. INCLUDING sales. Oh...and his company's ICE counterparts have lost major market share to said Tesla EVs...
  3. I dont know... Ive never seen a Canadian postal worker deliver mail straight out of his vehicle. While its true that in my neighborhood, we got the group box thing going on, but even in the older parts of Montreal, the mail slots are at the dwelling itself. No curbside mailboxes like in the older parts of American suburbia where white picket fences reside that Ive seen... Maybe they do exist in Quebec, and I know they do, but I havent seen postal workers work in these areas...
  4. Function over form. It looks small but big enough. Nimble. Looks like the postal worker need not leave the truck to deliver mail in that mail box. I guess when the situation and mail box allows that to happen. Just to compliment that military pic, Ill do one of my one too. This 'Hog' of plane is one ugly mother, but it does its one job very, very VERYwell! Function over form
  5. I know I have heard of the group before, but I didnt know if I knew any of their "songs"... Turns out I am familiar with at least 2. I was inspired to find out when I read Balthy was inspired to found out who they were. With the being said...
  6. Its NOT just the testing and evaluation. Its also the actual 'how to' that is lacking. There is NO actual driver training. What I mean by driver training, I LITERALLY mean driver training. There is no training on car control. Like what a police officer has to go through. And yes...THAT kind of rigorous driving training. Maybe not the PIT maneuver, but teach drivers how to respond and drive in emergency situations. Teach them not to panic. Teach them how to understeer. How to oversteer. How to gain control back. How to brake hard. What to do when braking hard. In rain. On snow. On gravel. On clean dry tarmac. And so forth. And by teaching them these skills, only then could the mindless dolts realize the IMPORTANCE of keeping FOCUSED when driving. And who knows? Maybe when these mindless dolts master the basics at the very least and at most, be proficient in the hard skills of driving maybe they will become enthusiastic about the whole driving culture... But when driving schools across North America even fail to teach people to parallel park, what else do you expect on our roads?
  7. And its more complicated than that in Quebec... Its more staggered. Full license is obtained at 25 years old. But I got the feeling that you understood where I was going with this. I wanted to show you that yeah...in Quebec, we have pushed forward the age of driving...to a sense, right? I mean, teenaged Quebecois could start to learn to drive at 16, staggered license up until 25... Edumacation is the key though if we are 'after the problem'. In Quebec, we actually DO a good job in TEACHING the new drivers the RULES of the road. In theory FOR the theory of driving. But for the ACTUAL driving part, we fail as hard as anybody else so yeah...I agree with your sentiment 100% about young folk and old folk and all that...
  8. Double posted... Ill start clean post.
  9. I do not know what happened, but I made a mess with the posting stuff... Ill erase the other post too...and start again.
  10. Yup... With Washington's NFL team and MLB's Cleveland team and with all else...I am not surprised. Nor am I mad about it. 'Tis the times we live in. (But in no way am I saying that people shouldnt feel offended either. If that is how they feel, then THAT is how they feel...who am I to tell them otherwise? And if they no longer want their heritage to be stereotyped that way for commercial purposes, then yeah...I AGREE with them!)
  11. In Quebec, Im not sure about the age, but when a person reaches 70 years old, they need to redo their driver's test. Eyesight, reaction time etc. https://saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/road-safety/clienteles/seniors/health-and-safety/ But we are not a litigious society up here... Maybe in the US this type of thing will not pass law so easily.
  12. I dont care anymore...
  13. The ice storm of '98. It was a CRAZY time, ese. Si...it wasnt a CRAZY idea after all...
  14. I do not get it...

  16. The thing is...you hit a nerve with him. And THAT would sum it all up...
  17. This is a Facel Vega. I posted it a couple of days ago The one in the pic below the Cougar ad is this one I believe 1964 French car with Mopar muscle under the hood!
  18. LOL THAT was NOT the point of this thread. I nerded it up back then, and you guys are nerding it up now. What we SHOULD have done, then and now, is just sit back, relax and ENJOY the jokes...
  19. UPDATE: Tesla phoquing drivers...with more money than brains, dishing out 10 thousand motherphoquing dollars who think autonomous driving and autopilot means the same phoquing thing. (granted...Tesla marketing asshats brilliantly and mistakenly have falsely named their system this way) I havent encountered one of these idiots, yet. But I am apprehensive knowing that these humans actually exist.
  20. I remember this thread. I flubbed it back then as I was tooo nerdy about the whole thing. Ill fix it. Chevrolet Bolt 149 kW of pure electric electricity and 360 Nm of pure neutral neutron torques. So a millennial could use the Bolt's navi system to get to the nearest Starbucks because regardless if that millennial drives by Starbucks EVERYDAY, he is more into shytty electronic gadgets than he is with sleepers anyway...
  21. Just a random thought... EV conversions that I think are interesting...

  23. I was looking at past threads to see if I could bring them back to life with relevant content to contribute. The Lucid Air thread was funny because I was thinking about why is it that I like a jellybeaned styled vehicle all day yesterday when I came to a conclusion only to stumble across a thread on it of which a poster thought it resembled what could be an Oldsmobile product. Anyway. I have always like the Pontiac Rageous concept of the late 1990s. I thought it be a great vehicle for it to be conceived today. It might have been a tad wild styling wise and toooo far ahead of its time then, but as a CUV/SUV alternative, slightly raised in stance to BE an SUV type vehicle and with just a tad softer front-end styling, I think it could work in today's world. Side profile is spot on for today's vehicles. I think GMC could use this...as an EV. Possibly even badged as a HUMMER by GMC. Picture the HUMMER EV drivetrain in this machine... With that Freedom mode. Phoquing rocket ship to go anywhere...really really fast. And no terrain would be a challenge. Competitors would have nothing on it. Lucid Air Porsche Taycan Possible Taycan Cross Turismo Audi E Tron Possible Faraday FF91
  24. The downvotes are a a bastard of a thing... 1. A post not agreed with getting a downvote WITHOUT additional explanation is maddening... ESPECIALLY on a fact based post or thread If the downvoter could express his/her reasons as to why he disagrees, then a clear discussion arises and the whole point to the forums gets achieved... If not...its just trolling A troll gets to be exposed when PROPER discourse is being made. 2. If a downvote is being made on an OPINION piece...than that is just wrong. And kinda rude. Which again is just trolling by the downvoter. 3. Then a pattern gets established when a downvoter is CONSTANTLY downvoting. TROLLING gets to be the mantra of downvoting...all. the. time. In my honest opinion...TROLLING in a public forum is MORE detrimental than talking about politics or religion. IF PROPER discourse WITHOUT trolling is made, EVEN when politics and/or religion is THE main topic, then there are NO problems. (Im not even going to mention uneducated-ness and close mindedness because IF PROPER discourse is being made...then civilized discussions are being made...no PHOQUING NEED TO DOWNVOTE...) The up votes is yes...a feel good treat. Its human nature to feel good about things. A troll gets his goodies off by pi$$ing people off... Again...its OK to disagree...and to downvote...but PROPER discourse should ACCOMPANY a downvote. And a DECENT rebuttal should ensue. If not...its trolling. A whole bowl of not good...
  25. Ah...yes! I see (GM) Oldsmobile W-Body written all over it now that youve mentioned it. I also see 4rth gen Trans Am from the side profile. (Dont ask. Explaination in the random thoughts thread...) All in all, Lucid Air could easily pass off as a General Motors product of the 1990s that has evolved to today. The rounded aerodynamic body lines. The C Pillars. The rounded front and rear quarter panels. GM products from the late 1980s to the early 2000s all had that kind of styling. Yeah...I feel right at home when looking at the Lucid Air. I like it a lot.
