  1. Maybe not crazy console ads, but crazy computer '80s stuff just the same...
  2. This one...Ill agree to.
  3. Me too. And I really dont think the "F" part of FCA is going to greenlight new engineering for new successors. They wont even greenlight the Giorgio platform for Chrysler or Dodge to use... I really hope NOBODY merges with FCA. RAM and Jeep will survive. Dodge and Chrysler wont, but continuing this way, Dodge and Chrysler wont survive anyway...and its an agonizing death as we all know its coming. Lets be honest with each other. Its coming. And...with nobody merging with FCA, Fiat and Alfa is going to the dogs too. Any serious money FCA is making IS with RAM and Jeep. And Dodge to a degree. Because the Challenger and Charger and 300 are selling at high enough numbers on a platform that has been paid for a while ago. The Durango helps a lot too...because its also on a Jeep platform that Jeep sells a ton of too. I dont think with Alfa's numbers that FCA is raking it in. Maybe Fiat in Europe is contributing to some profit? Maserati? I once supported the merger between Chryco and Fiat. But not anymore. This merger proves to be as destructive to Chryco as the one from Germany. But then again, Chryco was a goner anyway. At least we got another 2-3 years with a pseudo new Viper and a Hellcat-Demon-RedEye Challenger (Charger too). At least the FCA merger allowed Dodge annihilate the competition in this new modern era muscle car wars!
  4. I read the article. Pretty grim. And this article plays upon my fear of what may happen and what IS to happen if and when Porsche succumbs to the allure of profit generating CUVs and SUVs all for the name of market share... Reading the article is very reminiscent of Detroit 3 wrongs... Yet...this article seems to be of a less aggressive nature describing Porsche as how I remember how Car and Driver and Motor Trend used to rip on Detroit 3 automakers for the EXACT same thing 20-30 years ago...
  5. No need for speed in this segment. Its just a cute ute CUV. Define better transmission? Because as I understand it, this 9 speed is smooth and makes this 4 cylinder rev even smoother. I know Drew mentioned that the Denali Terrain has got more power, but as much clout as a Denali has got, its still not a Cadillac. And Im willing to bet that the Denali aint as smooth as the XT4 is said to be... If you are gonna blast Cadillac for something, blast Cadillac for even being in this segment to begin with... While I did say a couple of weeks ago if they are to do a vehicle this small, then they should go all in, but I also said that I wouldnt want any Cadillac to be in a 40 000 dollar price range. I would want Cadillac to START in the 55 000 dollar range. And therefore a XT4 better be a V trimmed CUV... But as is...we all could moan about the XT4 not being a tire melting Hellcat beating motor vehicle, to my understanding, the XT4 is one smooth and quiet ride. And THAT would and should be the main focus here. And I think it was wise for Cadillac to choose smooth and quiet over unnecessary torque figures and risking having a ride that some Euro loving badge snob complain about how harsh the engine or ride is! Its a Cadillac after all. No...not a V Series Cadillac. Just a luxury ride Caddy!
  6. Panamera... I must go back to grade school and learn how to read properly. So yeah! Panamera as a 2 dr would be GREAT being called a 928. Minus the mistake about the Panamera part. The rest of the rant stills stays as THAT is how I feel about Porsche and CUVs and Porsche sports cars...
  7. I was about to say...good idea...but after writing my rant above, I dont think I could agree with that philosophy. A 928 SHOULD be made by Porsche. But not as a CUV. As a GT sports car that how it once was. Porsche SHOULD do a REAL 2dr CUV, they should call it something else other than a 928. It will maybe sell (2dr coupes ARE a hard sell nowadays) and if there is a market for another GT somewhat affordable Porsche sports car, then expand the sports car product line and call THAT a 928. I dont want Porsche to muddle their sports car image. I feel that they are doing a fantastic job so far in selling us luxury, (because a 911 was far from luxury as one could get, worse than Corvette if we are honest!) and I feel that they are doing a fantastic job in selling SUVs and CUVs, capable SUVs and CUVs and I feel that their sports cars are better than ever and I feel they are managing their image just fine. Something I wish Cadillac head honchos could take a look and learn from.
  8. That is the idea. The sheeple and pawns buy CUVs from Porsche so the REAL car guys could buy the 911. And I think THAT is a good thing as the TRUE Porschefiles will ALWAYS buy a Caymen or Boxster or 911. As a car guy, I dont want for the Caymen, Boxster or 911 be watered down just because a bunch of fake badge snob douches will buy a Porsche sports car and change the dynamics of those cars just because they arent REAL sport car guys. Just for them to buy a Porsche just because "Porsche". Leave the badge snobs to continue to buy the CUVs so that the hot blooded Porsche sport cars be left alone so the REAL sports car guys could continue to buy the REAL sport cars! As long as Porsche does NOT eff up their brand image to become a CUV brand imaged company...we all good!
  9. Me too! The black and white stuff, my family will refuse to do...but I just think about my dad (and mom) and my auntie. I had older parents, my dad's sister, she is 99 years old. Still alive and kickin'! So when I watch these movies, I think about my dad (and mom) because of all the wonderful 'back in my day' stories they used to tell me! It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World was on last week, so I PVRed it and we watched it. I had seen it twice before when I was a teenager, loved it then...so I introduced it to my kids. My going on 12 year old son was rolling on the floor laughing! My 13 year old daughter found it alright. My wife, did not like it too much. She likes drama stuff. No action stuff. Only the abused woman that gets revenge by murdering her abuser that falls in love with the cop that helps her, Oprah channel movies... She loves her Law and Orders. All of them. SVU being her fave. And her CSIs... Ill watch those too, but Im typing away my GIFs and my rants over at Cheers and Gears when these are on! Comedy? She does the 1980s and 1990s comedy. And today's comedy I guess. Anything from the 1960s or older and she tunes out! Ill do French movies! Love those! Especially from the 1960s and 1970s. Living in Quebec...we got them. British Comedy stuff too. Living in Canada...we got them. Benny Hill. I LOVED his comedy! HMMMMM....Benny Hill shows on DVD? Greek movies from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Those were great! I miss them! All the time, my parents took me to watch Greek movies at the Realto. An ethnic movie theater in Montreal. I saw a dozen of them there. Then the beauty of Beta and VHS came to be...and we rented many. Every week, it was 2 movies we rented. 1 Hollywood movie and 1 Greek movie!
  10. Dont all those 4 cylinder "street rods" all go 'brawwwpp'? There was a young adult go through my drive-through with a current gen VW Golf that also went brawwwpp. I dont think it was a GTI...didnt look it, but sure as hell tried to sound like it had more bark then it actually had... I cant hate them anymore for that! Actually, quite the opposite as that means they are enthusiasts of the motor vehicle....gotta respect 'em as these are the kids that will grow up and DEMAND that we have enthusiast type self-driving pods... And Im happy that Toyota and Subaru are investing in another generation...as maybe there is a slight sliver of hope that not all sheeple are so much into their smart phones and CUVs that these types of cars COULD still exist!
  11. I dont get into sitcoms or television today. Game of Thrones...nope. Breaking Bad...nope. I cant even mention other shows as I dont know any... The last sitcom I was really into was 21/2 Men with Charlie Sheen. The only stuff I love watching, which is my alone time, is sports. Ill watch NFL football or NHL hockey feverishly. Ill record the games I wanna watch and when the family goes to sleep, Ill watch my sports alone since nobody in the family likes to watch pro sports on TV. Baseball. Im starting to watch many more baseball games. Excited as Montreal may get another chance sometime in the not tooo far future. Love baseball more than I do hockey. And I LOOOOOOVE hockey! Ill also watch Discovery Channel and History Channel stuff. Whatever that may be. Sometimes my son and daughter see that stuff with me. We will watch movies though together. All kinds of movies. My wife is into the trash reality TV. Big Brother. Big Brother Canada. Survivor. Amazing Race. Amazing Race Canada. So as a family, we will do that. Sometimes though, I cant do trash reality TV. So I do youtube instead.
  12. I bought the complete series DVD of Cheers just before Christmas. I started watching them sometime in mid January. I finished watching all 11 years 2 weeks ago. It took me 7-8 weeks. Yeah...Id call that binge watching! It turns out, I had watched ALL the episodes back then. Did not miss one show...impressive. Now, I gotta be clear. When Cheers started, I was too young to start choosing what Im gonna watch, and my dad was not into Cheers back in 1982. But...I did discover Cheers after its 3rd season. Sometime when the 3rd season started, my family was watching Cheers religiously. The re-runs were the reason why I saw all the episodes back in the day. The only thing that I noticed was that I barely remember 2 intros. I know I saw them back in the day, but whime watching these new DVDs, my memory of them was faint. The rest...the memory of Cheers was very very vivid! I could honestly say, I STILL love Cheers!
  13. So...are you watching?
  14. Im guessin' the same stupid shyte that Vincent Vega is glarin' at... At least he's glaring at it with style... Here, you wanna see? No need for the gun tho! But you cant have it...catch my drift?
  15. Interesting. But I just wanna put out another point of view. A hypothetical if you will. This engine is a successor to the one that is in the ATS, right? I know for a fact that one (of many) issue many journalists had with the ATS, and undoubtedly folks coming from Audi or BMW was that the 2.0T in the ATS was not as refined as the one offered in a Bimmer or Audi. Wasnt smooth. (A common complaint for GM 4 cylinders since, like...forever.) Well, this transmissions, as per the OP, and Ford apparently, is that it makes the LSY a refined powerplant. Ford may not have had use for it because the refinement improvements alone did not justify the costs and weight increases for their Ford branded vehicles, but seeing GM kept it for their Cadillac small CUV, maybe GM and Cadillac engineers decided that refinement was an upmost priority and since an XT4 doesnt really need tire melting torque to convince people to buy it, but silky smooth driving dynamics to lure folk from the German brands, then perhaps it was a wise decision? Because that is how I choose to view this decision. Because quite honestly, 237 horsepower and 258 ft.lbs of torque for a cute ute CUV in a segment that really doesnt care for power, nor would they understand it or feel or even want it, is good enough. And here I was, trying to find out what the XT4's competition is with a Car and Driver article that tested it that usually also mentions the competition, and the first thing in the title is: The 2019 Cadillac XT4 Is More Smooth Than Sporty They follow that up with: Cadillac continues to bifurcate its lineup into sporty sedans and milquetoast crossovers. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a23143999/2019-cadillac-xt4-crossover-drive/ But...crossovers, especially little shytbox crossovers like these, ARE NOT ABOUT SPORTY...despite what some of us want to believe... And after looking at the competition's numbers, Porsche, Volvo, Alfa Romeo...all 3 have more HP and torque...but... like I said...crossovers, especially little shytbox crossovers like these, ARE NOT ABOUT SPORTY...despite what some of us want to believe... This is what Car and Driver said: Steering and suspension response is uncommunicative...par for the class. Porsche and M-B and BMW and Alfa Romeo is well represented... Midpack for performance times vis-a-vis the competition, in a segment that doesnt give a phoque about performance...despite Porsche and Alfa Romeo and BMW...in this segment...and an anemic XT4 is STILL midpack in performance times...BUT...ITS SMOOTH AND QUIET!!! Something that 4 cylinder GM cars NEVER were...and THIS is a Cadillac, where smoothness and quietness IS A MUST!!! For the FIRST time in like...forever!
  16. *SIGH* Balthy's brother... I forgot to put the word 'brother' right after the word 'Balthy' to suggest that Im honouring his BROTHER's Firebird! *SIGH* I could hardly EVER get ANYTHING right! ?
  17. Mostly Firebirds. To honour Balthy's 1968 1000 horsepower plus Firebird! From 1967-2002
  18. I love it in black. Matte Black being the favorite. Preferably in 'M" guise of course. But it looks good in any colour, to my eyes at least! Me too, the 4dr over the 2dr But the 2dr is sexy too.
  19. It took me awhile to warm up to the 6 Series Grand Coupe, partly because I did not want to admit that I could like a BMW. But in the end, I put all that bias aside, and saw it for what it truly was...a beautiful car. The 4 Series Grand Coupe is also nice. Its sleek. But one has to like that sorta thing in the first place (sloping, fastback, coupe styling on sedans) to truly enjoy the looks of it. But, that style, has been over done by many brands over the years, I must admit. That look has become generic. There was a time when it wasnt generic though. I dont understand one thing though. Why are designers afraid to go back to sleek designs, but with a trunk? Why must a fast-back look to a sedan automatically mean that there is not trunk lid? ( I like that modern fastback look, but cars in the 1990s did that sleek look better IMO) Or C pillar designs that are not copied from one another? I understand high belt lines are the culprit and the reason for those maybe for safety regulations...beams inside the doors, thicker A-Pillars for crumple zones to protect the cabin and the like... But that still does not change the fact that sleekness does not always mean no trunk lid, and the complete lack individuality concerning the shape of the windows back and front... All the cars I posted, (and there are many more), they all have a UNIQUE design to ALL the window area, front and back of the car that blends in beautifully with the roofline of the car, the doors and the side profile of the car... If you analyze the Olds Aurora with the Chrysler 300M, you would realize that the greenhouse, the roofline, the slopes, the windows the way they flow, the design of the profiles, are very very similar between the two....yet very very very different... I just dont get it with today's cars and CUVs/SUVs... I wouldnt be THAT much against CUVs had they not all looked the same...
  20. Come on Eileen, huh? Ive had Come Dancing in my head the past two days. I did not hear the song anywhere. It just popped in there just like that!
  21. And it looks like you would be correct in your logic. As the CT5 would be the A5/S5's sportback's competitor. But you got to admit, the CT5 comes off more like an Accord than an S5 sportback. And I think it all comes down to that retarded Hofmeister kink...which I will state again...I like it. I also think that the hood of the CT5 looks to be a tad frumpy. Especially as compared to the S5. The S5 has the illusion of the front end to be longer than it actually is. Which accentuates the timeless design of a long hood/short deck theme. The CT5 does not pull that look off. The Escala has it, but the Escala is also a longer car with a much longer wheel base. The Accord also pulls off the long hood/short deck theme quite nicely too. Maybe on the CT5, the picture is too dark and we lose that effect? We should all see it in person before we continue to crucify the CT5...
