C'est en Français. C'est génial! Ici au Québec, on laisse tomber les tuiles!!! Translation..in Québec, we just let the tiles fall off and NEVER replace them!!! Ville-Marie tunnel Louis-Hyppolite Lafontaine Tunnel Although the Ville-Marie tunnel has gone through a major renovation and is still on going...that video was from 2011...the tunnel aint as bad now. The Lafontaine tunnel is still this shyte but will go under a great renovation soon. But it wont be for another 20-30 years before both will undergo some sort of repairs... OK...I am being bullish...they do do repair work often...but it really takes for the tunnels to be that dangerous before being repaired. That would be Switzerland, Belgium? Wow! Impeccable tunnel!

I forgot to mention. The food is cooked right in front of the customer. It is an open kitchen. Actually, their is a small counter dividing the customer and the line- cook. On the one side of that counter...on the kitchen side... is where we have the condiment tables where the customer sees his food and talks to the cook and tells him what he wants and the sink where we dump our fries and another sink where we wash our hands...and on the wall on the opposite side is where the fryers are and grill and steamers are...so the customer actually sees his own food being cooked...live and direct! The line-cook's back is facing the customer but he is face to face when he is dressing his food. And everybody hears everyone's conversations. Its intimate. But its cool!

I got goose bumps reading about your family's business endeavors, Drew! That is how America became great! That great American ingenuity to take something and make it better and the natural entrepreneurial skills they possess which drives them to be self made! Im the first in my family to be an entrepreneur. From my mom's side...all farmers farming their own land and using the barter system with their fellow villagers(islanders) to help feed each other. My grand-dad had olive trees and almond trees and plenty of chickens. With that he supplied the village with olives and olive oil and eggs and he bartered that for milk and bread and feta cheese. On occasion a chicken or two would be bartered for a fish or two. During tough times, the village would just help each other out and nobody would starve. My dad's parents...I really dont know what they did in Greece, but they did come to Canada when they were fairly young...which was the late 1890s. My grand-dad was in the Greek Navy and when his tour of duty ended (all Greek boys have to serve in the military) he had the chance to immigrate to North America. He chose Canada with his soon to be bride (my grand-ma and grand-pa were married in Montreal). I guess there is a strong military background in my dad's side of the family. My dad and his other 2 brothers fought for Canada during WW2 and my dad additionally joined the USAAF in 1950 and fought in the Korean War. Before WW2, at the age of 14 or 15, my dad worked at Canadair (Bombardier Aerospace ...yes..THAT 220% trade duty penalty Bombardier Aerospace) as a riveter to help the war cause and when he turned 17, he joined the army to fight Hitler. After the war, he stayed 1 year in the occupation of Germany and then came back to work at Canadair again only to join the USAAF. After Korea, before finally settling in Montreal, he would go back and forth from Canadair helping his brother-n-law in Boston. He would do Montreal-Boston and Boston-Montreal for about 8 years when he finally chose Montreal as his home. Something about Boston he did not like. OK...my restaurant. Its just a regular Quebec style hot dog joint. Steamed hot dogs is our specialty. Steamé (steamay) en Français. Il y aussi (there is also) des hot dogs toasté (toastay) or toasted... Steamed would be when the hot dog is cooked using steam and the bread is warmed up with steam too while toasted being when the hot dog is cooked on the grill and the bread is toasted... An all dressed hot dog in Quebec is mustard, relish onions and coleslaw (no carrots and more vinegary and bittery rather than sugary...but not so much vinegar and salt that your mouth caves in unto itself...the customer customizes his toppings. Along those hot dogs...we serve french fries. Freshly peeled and cut every day. Thick cut. Blanched onced before the final deep fry. We sell a boat load of fries in the summer as people in the neighbourhood love to BBQ but want our french fries to compliment their BBQ parties. We have a peeler and a cutter for that job. Tough work it is!!! We have hamburgers. They are small and thin...about .25 of an inch and 4 inches in diameter. But they are delivered fresh each morning except for Sundays. And each item so far is priced low so we could sell on volume. Because we want (and we have) all the workers in the neighborhood to come to us and not McDonald's or Burger King(long since closed down) who are or were right next to us. The customer dresses his burger the way he wants and likes. Same as the hotdogs. We have poutines. Gravy style sauce, cheddar style cheese curds and french fries. Very similar to this: We also have Italian poutine which is spaghetti meat sauce instead of the gravy style sauce. We have hot submarine sandwiches. Steak and pepperoni and fried onions, mushrooms and green peppers, topped with salad and tomatoes and special sauce on a toasted 12 inch baguette bread. The customer picks and chooses what he wants on it. One standard price. Makes it easy to order and speeding up the pay process. (No pepperoni...we put extra steak. No steak...we put extra pepperoni. No green peppers means no green peppers) We have smoked meat sandwiches. We buy from Lesters deli packers. The best smoked meat that isnt made in-house...like a Schwartz's deli for instance. For an extra you could add smoked meat on any thing you want to add it on. On a poutine or submarine sandwich for instance. We also do chicken burgers. And Chicken souvlaki pitas. We marinate our own chicken breast...Greek style...no secret there as Greek marinade for pork and chicken is simple and no big deal. Oil, garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice and oregano. The chicken burger is dressed with mayo or tzatziki, salad and tomato. The pita is dressed the same although we add onions to a pita...Customer could customize it as he/she wishes...we use the same breast for both. The chicken tenders goes for the pita and when we run out of those we use the breasts. (I must say...a REAL GREEK PITA OR GYRO...THERE IS NO SALAD...STUPID QUEBECKERS WANT SALAD IN THEIR MOTHERPHOQUING PITA!!! I HATE THAT!!!) OK...I feel good now! There is no "feel good" dietary trendy shyte on the menu. No salads, no veggie burgers, no tofu crap. Its a classic greasy spoon fast food joint. Other than the french fries and the smoked meat...there really isnt any real unhealthy stuff on our menu anyway. A hot dog or two aint bad. A hamburger is not really fattening either, considering it is a smallish portioned burger. Lay off the mayo and the calories stay pretty reasonable... It is a smallish restaurant on the inside. I have seating for 55 people. Booths and stool seating areas. About 3-4 years ago we renovated and made a drive-thru window for (duh) drive-thru ordering. Like I said. This is purely a fast food restaurant so the time it takes you to order your food at the cash and by the time you pay, you food is literally ready for you to go...(if you order any hotdog, fries and hamburgers. Hence why we chose the burgers to be thin. But we also chose a bread that is not too thick so there is a perfect blend of condiments (we just dont slather up on the ketchup or any other sauce either just to say we sauced up your burger good!!!), bread and meat in every bite)The rest of the stuff on the menu does take more time but not that much more time...add another 2-4 minutes...and literally its ready.) Because we are fast and we serve fresh food daily and our prices are fairly low, we get the Mon-Fri workers for lunch and we get the big family orders for supper and the week-ends. McDonald's is McDonald's but we do give the former clown (Ronald was killed off, non?) a run for his money. Hey...we managed to close down Burger King even before we invested in a drive-thru!!! The only thing we dont offer is any kind of dessert. We have been thinking about this a long time now, but we dont know what to offer. We want something cheap in price, but good quality, easy and fast to make that will represent and compliment our food service. We havent found that product yet. My partner is quite good in that. He is always testing new stuff and he brings it to the store. He goes to these conventions often. But there is always something a-miss...

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Still a high school argument though, non? When did pointing out the truth become a no-no? About the drag racing super charging stuff... and...CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG...PLEASE! A Tesla Model S could do...3-4 maybe even 5 passes before the battery is no longer able to give you the ludicrous juice? Even at 3 passes...dont most casual drag racers only do about 3 or 4 runs anyway on average? Why would we want to look for hindrances when these are barely hindrances? Where there is a will, there is a way is how I was brought up!!!- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I dont know? Ask the dude who called me a bad person... Ill tell you why I reacted the way I did the first time. I do take things serious when electrics get thrown in the mud constantly. Maybe I shouldnt be wearing my panties too tightly... But I take it to heart even more when said arguments dont even hold water just using common knowledge... But...I did lighten it up with the HEMI engines going boom! The next response to me was even more childish than the first... Ill repeat... Its OK if you folk dont like or wont accept electrics...just dont be stupid about it! BE HONEST! Take this post for instance... Is it sooooo bloody hard for the operators of a drag strip to call in Tesla to install one? Knowing damn well that Tesla Model S-es are more and more raced...Im willing to bet my left testicle that this has already been done at at least 1 drag race strip somewhere in the USA!!! So...sure...my panties are in a knot... Can you blame me? How old are we in this forum? Im sure we are all over 30 years old... We sure arent teenagers bench racing Playstation Gran Turismo games!!! Common! Im asking for intelligent discussions... Ill have to tone it down...Im sorry... But lets get real here!!!- 80 replies

Well...YOUR argument was not even high school grade... If you feel that Im not a good person...its OK... Just put your big boy pants on and except confrontation when you post dumb things... YOUR argument was not of a jokey one...like how it turned out now... YOU were serious...about a Model S not being able to be abused on a drag race... I posted 2 posts. The first was aggressive...the second was direct but playful....I could understand if you did not take it that way...but that is what you get when you get egg on your face... Then instead of saying "yes Oldshurst...my bad!!! You may have a point..." YOU continue on trying to defend an undefendable argument... One thing I HATE the most...whether on the internet or real life...is when people CANNOT ADMIT THEY ARE WRONG!!! So yeah...tell me Im a bad person... If correcting you...even if slightly aggressive..but NO INSULTS WERE THROWN AT YOU...I JUST TOLD YOU TO GO BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS BECAUSE THE ARGUMENT YOU MADE...A HIGH SHOOLER WOULD NEVER HAVE MADE....THEN YEAH.... IM AN A$$H0L3!!! PS: I ALWAYS ADMIT WHEN IM WRONG! I LET PEOPLE TEACH ME! THAT IS HOW I LEARN!!!! IT AINT ABOUT EGO!!!! MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR AND SEE WHO REALLY INSULTED WHO???!!! REMEMBER...YOU SAID I WAS A BAD GUY!!!! SHOULD I TAKE THAT AS AN INSULT???? SHOULD I CRY???!!!- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
But they have... electric motors...(different kinds of electric motors)...are EVERYWHERE IN EVERYDAY stuff stupid John Q public uses...I dont think e-motors dont wreak havoc upon us... But we are talking about a 3 phase induction motor. A stator, a rotor, copper wire, magnets and a shaft... The shaft may misalign itself...but that wont be because of stupid John Q misusing it... There are no fluids that will be forgotten to be topped off... The magnetic field that is needed to be produced for an induction motor to kinda do its thang kinda happens all by itself... A 3 phase motor is inherently, kinda-like...idiot proof. If "you Folk" is all you got on me, I suggest you revisit high school electric/physics class...- 80 replies

PS: When HEMIs decide to self destruct, they make a huge and loud BOOM! Louder and bigger than any other engine in the racing world...something to be proud of actually... But... THAT is the explosive nature of an internal COMBUSTION engine....so...- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Its an electric motor. (2 motors...1 in the front, 1 in the back) 3 phase. Are you trying to tell us that an induction motor is less durable and less reliable and less capable of achieving high and sustained RPMs than an internal combustion engine? I dont feel like writing a high school essay on why an induction motor is less likely to fail in a drag race versus an internal combustion engine. While heat is detrimental to both...the internal combustion engine produces a shyte load of it while the induction motor produces very little, if any... There are no fluids to overheat and to spill via ruptured hoses in an induction motor... There are no gears to grind as there is no transmission...just a single speed transmission in an induction motor... Running high RPMs all day long 365/24/7 is kinda the electric motor's thang... And that is just for starters... Its OK for you people not to like EVs...please though...dont just spew whatever comes to your head to justify your views...it dont look good for you folk when others are reading your shyte!- 80 replies

@Drew Dowdell Im always curious about these kinds of things. As you know, I own a restaurant. I wanna know what kind of business do your parents own? I respect the dickens out of people who own their own businesses and Im always in awe of them especially if these businesses are multi-million dollar affairs!!!

Im sorry if I seem forceful. LOL! I wanted to know why the question so I asked you? Albeit I think my questions to you might seem aggressive... They are not...its cool that we are going back and forth on this! Curiosity is what you are saying? Yup...curiosity is just a good reason as any other! Good question non-the-less. I think that the people that thought they were duped by Elon for whatever reason already canceled or are gonna cancel. If we could know how many people canceled their Model 3 orders so far...Id say a good percentage of those cancellations are for reasons that they felt duped... Life does change, life happens.. so there is obviously gonna be cancellations based in unexpected events...so that calculation would be a tad trickier to determine...
-
True...but one buys a car DIRECTLY from Tesla making Tesla THE dealership...so...same difference IMO. Its the pre-orders that has you hung up... Well...this is the game that the rules are played with with 'gotta have it now' products!
-
I also want to make it clear that I dont think of the early automobile pioneers as shysters. Nor do I think Musk is a shyster either. The products to be sold are/were always available for the consumer to buy. Yes...the Model 3 will eventually be delivered...a shyster would be if Musk collected the deposit money and skipped town...he obviously has not done that. And...what Tesla says what their cars will do performance wise...they cars deliver on that promised performance...so there is no shysterism there either. I just like to even the playing field regarding certain thought processes....that is all! Why would this bother you? Obviously the people that listened to Musk's speeches recently regarding price, options and delivery dates and did not agree, already canceled and are in the process of canceling now. But many did not cancel...the majority... And others took their place...the Model 3 still has around 400 000 pre-orders give or take.
-
As much as a shyster that Durant or Ford ever were....or even Delorean later on.....or any other Detroit personality in the automobile industry since the beginning...minus the few engineers, coach builders and race drivers that made a difference...but the ones involved in the money part....yeah...shysters...stealing, backstabbing, cheating, lying, extorting... If you gonna hate...at least hate EQUALLY!!!
-
I am not one of those 400 000 Tesla sheeple! The ones that were not Tesla sheeple did cancel their orders... But...when one fool ends up changing their mind, another one takes its place... Even now after all of Elon's warnings that delivery will take long and not all options will be available right away...Tesla still losing millions...yada yada yada...people are still giving deposits to own sometime in the near future, the Model 3... Yes...Tesla sheeple get excited when Elon is telling them about possible EV pick-up trucks and 18 wheelers and another CUV yet ignore that their 1000 dollar deposit on their Model 3 that already has been cashed in wont come to fruition in another 1.5-2 years possibly 3 years... Buick and Ford and even Mercedes cant afford such buffoonery... THAT is the difference... Will THAT ever become old?
-
And Im saying it will start at 35 000! I am also saying that not too many will be available at that price... I also said that about Ford...and its ecoboost pushing... Tesla aint that different than anyboby else is alls Im saying... Why now...would we be chastising Tesla for an industry wide affair?
-
They will start at 35 000... How many will be produced to be available to be sold at that price is another thing all together... The majority of them will be sold at higher than 35 000...sure! But why would that be a negative? Part of that would be because not too many 35 000 dollar priced Model 3s will be available....but...I dont think the majority of Tesla buyers gives a shyte how much the Model 3 ends up costing them...and I think Elon knows this so he will milk as much money as he can outta the Tesla sheeple... The ones that dont want to spend the coin to drive a Tesla and just for the badge do have options... It is called the Bolt or the Leaf, at the moment as only Chevy and Nissan offer viable and compelling products as of now that directly compete with the Model 3 somewhat... Why would any of this be bad?

Ride sharing will never be a thing... Just a glimpse of that ride sharing future...UBER's license to operate in London, England was revoked a couple of days ago on the account that https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-22/london-authority-revokes-uber-s-private-hire-license Any ride sharing company risks of getting their asses handed to them if they dont co-operate... Any more regs forced upon ride sharing companies and they just become a regular taxi service...and ride sharing companies dont want any regs...so...they continue to operate in that grey zone and London wont be the ONLY city in the world with cojones to stop ANY ride sharing bullshyte! There has ALWAYS been ride sharing...this aint nothing new... New York City is famous for it! And its just a taxi service.. We all know how popular taxi services are outside of NYC... Uber undercut taxi prices...THAT is the ONLY way it became popular...not hard to do when no municipal or State government imposes a HUUUUUGE operator's license fee on Uber drivers as it does on a regular taxi service... Add to that no Uber driver reports income...at least in the beginning...but as governments at any level stop being stupid and naive and blind to false income claims....and will be jailing ride sharing drivers for tax evasion... And no...an app on a smart phone was not revolutionary.... Speed dial does the same thing... A phone call at the taxi center followed by a CB communication between driver and center relayed the same approx. pick-up time... This method still works as I call my food delivery service headquarters and they in turn get info the way I explained...with GPS locations on the truck...but they do call the driver...no the info is not on my smart phone...but yet...this way is how ONSTAR works for destination turn by turn directions, non? Sorry about the above rant... I hates the notion of car sharing...and I ALWAYS come up with a new angle of why it will NEVER work.
-
Well... Tesla's, Ford's and GM's stock worth aint really representative of their respective profits... Mark Fields was fired... Investors are questioning Ford and GM's future and both companies are full line car makers... Tesla's Musk gives those investors vapor ware...they applaud... 'Positive mojo' may evaporate. Or it may not... As of now...in the short term at least...Ford NEEDS to get a 100% EV out there....ecoboost is not setting Wallstreet in fire.... At least GM has the Bolt... So...yeah...even with all that profit that the F-150 generates...if the Model 3 makes Tesla profit and then the consequent affordable CUV...Ford maybe need of a Tesla take-over as SMK suggested... Just playing Devil's advocate because I dont believe all the bolded part that I wrote in this last post!!! The other stuff is plain reality of what is going on...
