Just to kinda respond to what @Drew Dowdell said in his above post semi-defending myself and semi agreeing to what Drew said and semi-agreeing to what @smk4565 said.... Ive been very critical to what Cadillac has been saying they wanna do and what they actually are doing myself. Since 1997, Cadillac has been over promising us and under selling us to what they have promised us! However, this time, what they are actually doing, what they are promising us and what they are giving us is quite promising. This time it is for real. All what SMK is saying that Cadillac needs will come in due time. Nothing is rushed at Cadillac anymore. That is why it seems like forever for the lust products to come out. In. Due. Time. I for one, am excited for the future of Cadillac. The convertible will come. The Tesla fighting EV will come. The S Class BEATER will come. The crossovers to fluff up necessary sales and to build a solid customer base from will come. Actions DO speak louder than words. And Cadillac's actions speak for themselves... The Caddy that Zigs was fluff! The beginnings of Arts and Science was 1 step forward 2 steps back. The head exploding show cars like the Sixteen, Cien, Ciel and El Miraj was nothing but smoke and mirrors. The Evoq and Converj was blundered....but going forward, the Escala really looks like Cadillac has finally got it right and really is moving forward with it! Not backwards! Actions DO speak louder than words. The guy from cross town rival....his marketing guy....well, it was all words! Johan too, has talked a tough game trying to bully his former German bosses and their cross town rival as well...but, Johan had shaken Cadillac's roots and core so his tough words towards the Germans...I believe them! Johan is NOT a typical GM "yes man" lifer! Moving forward...Cadillac is in GREAT position to reclaim lost territory! To this I also point out that GM is FINALLY getting us a mid-engined Vette! To this I also point out that GM is FINALLY letting engineers do the talking.... Example....letting the Camaro EXCEL and NOT be shackled just because the Vette is in front of it. The V Series Cadillacs...there is nothing else to say about them! Just....PHOQUE YEAH! The XT5 is huuuuuge success! The ATS and the CTS when they are brought into the new nomenclature with their new underpinnings along with the upcoming V8 for the CT6 will come into their own which also coincides with 2 new crossovers.....sales will EXPLODE by LEAPS AND BOUNDS here and ESPECIALLY in China by 2021!!!

@ykX WW2 aircraft are simply gorgeous and awesome machines. Its hard to EXCLUDE the Spitfire, the Mustang, the BF109, the Zero. And those are the stereotypical fighters of WW2. There are many others! As far as WW2 tanks go, the Tiger I and the T-34 are EQUALLY my favorites! I LOVE the Huey helicopter. Easily my #2 aircraft for the Vietnam war era. AIRPLANES! To me, they are like cars, its just impossible to just pick 1. Ive excluded the F-15 Eagle, The Mustang, the Spitfire the P-40, the MiG 25/31, the Mirage 2000, the Rafale, the BF109, the B-17, the Hercules, the C47 Skytrain(DC-3)and many many others and it hurts!!!

Like always, I saw these 2 awesome cars this past week just driving around doing errands with the family. I have no exciting details or anecdotes to reveal this time around regarding the cars in question other than when I pointed them out to my wife and kids, I was responded back by silence and I could sense the ambience was a big fat MEH! I, on the other hand was super delighted! A Silver 996 911 GT2 Im posting this pic like that from that angle as that is how I saw it on the highway when I passed it. The driver looked like an older gentleman driving his sports car without any intentions of breaking any speed limits. It seemed like he was babying his ride! Below is the frond end which I did not get a chance to observe as the highway was starting to get dense in front of me and I had to get my eyes to focus in front of of what was happening....DUH! Or a red 1990ish Acura NSX I was stopped at a red light when the NSX drove in front of me. The driver was coming from the right of me turning left heading the opposite direction to where we were going. The pic above is representative of what angle I witnessed the NSΧ. The driver of the NSΧ was also an older gentleman but this guy seemed to be actually driving his ride the way these machines were meant to be driven. I really cant conclude to the driving habits of these guys, but in my mind, THAT is how I wanna perceive this reality! OK...which of these 2 sports cars would YOU choose?

And NEED!!! But ya, I agree with you!

OK... What did that do in terms of what I was saying in my post?

Im doing all airplanes. 1. WW1 Fokker Dr.1 (yes yes that one!) 2. WW2 Focke Wulf FW 190 A-9 Pictured is a captured FW 190 A-8. 3. Korean War I dont particularly like or care about the Korean War aircraft. I dont like the fighter jets and bombers in this era of warfare being the early 1950s. During the beginning of this war, propeller aircraft were still being used especially warmed over WW2 planes with warmed over improvements to that technology. Jets, although were first introduced during the tail end of WW2, they were still in its infancy. OK....a MiG 15 and F-86 Sabre were battling it out and were the zenith and cutting edge of jet fighter technology during this war and were eons ahead of P-51D Mustangs that were also present in this war and the Messerschmidt ME262 which was credited to be the first JET FIGHTER during WW2...the thing is...I DONT LIKE THE MiG 15 and F-86. In fact, I HATE THEM!!! The real interesting jets came to life after the Korean War, in the 1960s...from all countries including France... So Im gonna post a prototype jet from Canada that flew just right after the Korean War ended. The Avro Arrow And if prototypes arent allowed...Ill go with a French Jet that first flew in the 1950s and went officially into service in 1961. Dassault Mirage III E 4. Viet Nam F4J Phantom II 5. Gulf War #1 In this era... I got 2 favorites...no buts, ifs or ands! THIS IS HOW ITS GONNA BE!!! The F16 and the MiG 29 (There are sooooooo many variants to these that Ive lost track to which specific trim is my favorite) 6. Iraq/Afghanistan War I dont think the F22 saw action in this war...but we are gonna move forward into the next generation of fighters. So the F22 Raptor gets the nod in this one!

I fully understand that. But...its what THE single model does in pollution that triggers an investigation in the first place, non? If a brand sells a gazillion of these models then yes, its only logical that all fines would be cumultative... Yes....11 million TDi VW and Audis have polluted a lot more than the 700 000 Silverados even though the Duramax pollutes more, the sheer number of TDi sold is greater, therefore the as a Company, VAG has polluted more and hence the cumultative damages are calculated and dealt with accordingly. Like I said, I understand that. But...all that does not change the fact that a Duramax (probably) pollutes more than a TDi.. Does this mean that GM (IF IN FACT GUILTY because its all speculation and possibly a witch hunt/cash grab at this point in time) is less guilty and should be less accounted for because they sold less Duramaxes than VAG sold TDis? Fined less for pollution damage...yes! Being less guilty...NO! Having a fine that is EQUIVALENT AND PROPORTIONAL to VAG's fine...DAMNED RIGHT!!!

I meant it as 1:1 Im sure SMK also meant his statement as 1:1. Im almost certain when pollution laws are put into place, the laws are meant to be enforced as 1:1 when models are concerned and not as a collective thing... OK...carbon credits and overall CAFE totals for a manufacturer are calculated for the entire range of vehicles...but in this case, I think this is about how THE Silverado diesel pollutes. I could be wrong on all accounts.

Id say, the Impala is just as much luxury as any Mercedes out there! Especially when sales are thrown into the mix...
-
I think in this case its a little bit of everything as you stated. A witch hunt to destroy diesels, a cash grab PLUS I too think that GM might have cheated as I too, believe that HD diesel pick-ups are dirtier than small diesel powered cars.... Yeah...I wont be surprised to hear 1. Ford being the next target. And the reasons being what you and I just stated. 2. GM retreats in offering the Cruze Diesel and the Canyon and Colorado diesels too. 3. All manufacturers just calling it quits on diesels if a. GM is found guilty b. and/or Ford is announced next on the hit list and especially if they too are found to be guilty.

PLUS....the crappy reliabilty and the electrical nightmares which to this day is still horrendous!

Art imitating life? CASA DELLA TIRES ************************************************************************************************* Yuck! I thought gay guys had style???!!! I guess its not good to stereotype!

Good news for electric power. Anything that deals with fossil fuels being dirty and the tree huggers just strengthen their love for electrics. Coal powered electric farms could be used as an argument...but pictures like these make tree huggers turn a blind eye to it.... Ironically, the name of this type of action does NOT help the coal powered electric farm argument... So yeah...how clean is diesel with the big bad black proof that is displayed from the pic above?

Oh yes you can! You are thinking about these kinds of V8s... But a V8 is smooooooth sure its a Lexus... But that 500 cubic inch Cadillac V8 was that smoooooth too! With a helluva lot more torques! Hell...my dad's 1979 Impala and my own 1985 Olds Delta 305 catalytic converter mess was smoooooth too! Smoother than a V12? Probably not....Chevy and Oldsmobile not uber luxury Cadillac class....and we are talking about GM's malaise period to which Lexus had an answer for in that 1989 commercial! Coinkidinkies....that Lexus commercial was also a shot towards Mercedes Benz too! More so for M-B than Cadillac... Besides....cam technology has advanced big time to make V8s as smooth as you want them to be.... Cadillac cant charge that much for a V8? Not now they cant....perception is all phoqued.... But....they once did!!! From the late 1940s to the mid 1970s they did! (for V8 power)....because in the late 1920s and 1930s Cadillac had V16s...but....the V8 won out...ask yourself why in the cubic inched crazed 1960s, Cadillac chose not to sell anything but V8s? Because V12s mean shyte!

@FAPTurbo Then there is the red neck BMW or Mercedes owner where these owners own and drive 10 year old, burnt headlighted because too expensives to replace, sometimes rusted out 3 and 5 Series Bimmers and C and E class cars pretending to be big time playas! Oh yes....BMW and Mercedes has reached that zenith where Cadillac once was with the low class crowd pretending to be somebodys!
-
In Quebec in the Montreal region, the ATS is literally everywhere! Yes its got very aggressive lease deals, the fact of the matter is, Im willing to put money down, I havent checked any sales figures, but Im will to bet that in the Montreal region the ATS outsells the BMW 2 and 3 Series and the M-B C-Class! And EVERY customer I talk to about their ATS ALL LOVE the ATS! It is I who questions the existence of the ATS because I question the ATS' ability to catapult Cadillac to the next level....but at least in Quebec, the ATS has built quite a loyal following...
-
Yeah...sure... With all the big shots that I serve at my restaurant with the leased dime a dozen C-Class or GLA who ask me the price difference between a hamburger and a cheeseburger and then bitch at the 50 cent difference and opt out for the cheese while paying their bill by credit card....probably their loaded up credit card! Or the baseball moms that drive in their big boy GL SUVs whose sons and daughters play baseball/softball with my kids and when we get invited to their homes...they got the big pools and the expensive BBQs and the pave uni exterior landscaping....all the parts that show from the OUTSIDE yet their basements are unfinished and their homes are literally empty on the inside and if furnished, furnished with IKEA furniture....
-
Yes they sure have de-tuned it... Pagani uses this engine with its fullest potential intact...but uses a transmission from another company other than what M-B uses...that does not bode well for the "prestige" of owning a Mercedes-Benz V12... Its funny as both GM and Chrsyler use their own transmissions WITHOUT the fear of catastrophic failure.. And..lest NOT forget that the HOT ROD world pushes MOPAR and GM engines to HYPERCAR levels OFTEN using the transmissions that GM or MOPAR produce! Also....in time....A Pagani, or a M-B Black Series will just be LS swapped...just like the Ferraris every other car out there.... I was searching to post a Ferrari but this came up....LAMBORGHINIS are not safe either anymore... So much for prestigious Italian prouncing horses and V12s being the Grand Daddy of them all! The Corvette V8 looks like its the MOTHER of all engines! A Cadillac CT8 with a CADILLAC V8 will do just fine in the UBER class! Remember This is what Cadillac does best And there was a 500 cubic inch V8 under that hood. THAT is what people want from Cadillac. There is no need for a V12. And THAT is why I said a V12 means shyte!
-
Nope! A V12 means shyte! Back in the day when Detroit ruled, CUBIC INCHES ruled and those were on V8s! And those V8s put to shame ALL V12s that were sold in that era.... So much so that the Detroit V8s became LEGENDS and the V12s of that era are all but forgotten. Only Euro-files reminisce about these engines.... Today, the remnants of that could still be seen..... The Mopar Demon engine puts to shame that AMG 6.0 liter BiTurbo V12....621 horsepower.... I think the 6.2 liter supercharged 808 horsepower beast is the Grand Daddy of them all! You may not think so....but...the power numbers are all there for you to see! I want to agree with you on the electric motor thing....but Porsche and Ferrari are already there....and I have faith that Corvette and Cadillac will bet there too... I do have faith for GM in that regard...but Im not entirely convinced on that either!

AND DUMBER!

Are we actually proud for self-parking cars? We are discussing which cars have park assist and which of these park themselves better? Ill be impressed when self-parking cars park like this! (And a feature that I will use ONLY if they actually park like that!) I bet you these kids will NEVER use park assist in their lives!!!

Well...I think Hyundai is copying Lexus more than BMW with the nomenclature.... And yes....I think it sucks!!!

Both Casa and Drew's responses are LOLs!!! Both Epic!!! This was me after reading them: The last one where Axle throws himself into the car was EXACTLY how I laughed at Drew's response!!!
