The outgoing grille looks much better, IMO. It just flows so much better. Thanks for pulling both pictures!

2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Features A Solar Roof: Comments

There are scenarios in which it would probably work very well, that being one of them, but I don't see enough of that scenario being worth it.- 54 replies

2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Features A Solar Roof: Comments

It seems like a great idea but it just doesn't seem like it is worth whatever it will cost or the additional cost to insure something like that. It would be nice and all to be able to leave your car parked all day and your range goes up but its suuuuuch a negligible amount I can't imagine it would ever pay for itself.- 54 replies

"Simple enough, right? Well, not really. Instead of converting pound-feet to Newton-meters and calling it a day, Cadillac decided to throw another wrench into the equation: It rounds the conversion to the nearest 50. This means the 600 on the back of the new Escalade is a lie, as the SUV's V-8 and diesel six-cylinder engines produce 624 Nm of torque or 460 lb-ft. The number 624, however, doesn't look quite as nice 600—at least to Cadillac. (Blame overseas markets like China, where the figure makes more sense.) The decision was made not to use engine displacement so that the badges could also be applied to future electric vehicles; still, turbocharged models have a T after the number, so there is some indication of what lies under the hood."

Yeah, it's typically for the image. I don't see ANYBODY buying a new full-size SUV and taking it anywhere where you need the extra articulation of a solid axle. Now taking one that's 10+ years old and off-roading it, I could see that. Don't forget about this shyte storm, as well! Escalade 600!

Never..? Unless you're an off-road nut.

2020 Nissan Frontier Gains An Updated Powertrain: Comments
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
It could use more torque, because truck, but isn't 281 still more than the other N/A V6's? Tacoma 3.5: 265tq Gladiator 3.6: 260tq GM 3.6: 275tq As it turns out, yes. Yes, it is more than the others in its field. The only competitor that ousts it is the 2.3 with 310tq but much less horsepower at 270.- 13 replies

People already didn't give a shyte about the solid rear axle, it sold extremely well. Wasn't it something like 3 sold for every 1 Navigator and that's has IRS for awhile, prior to the newest generation. Correct, it doesn't bring down the franchise. I just think that's the biggest glaring mistake. Everything has been upgraded ten fold. I just don't like the horizontal headlights and I believe it should still have large, vertical headlights.
-
Because, in my opinion, they fckd up one thing that distinguished an Escalade and something that gave it that powerful look. Everybody knew what Escalade lights looked like. This goes exactly to your point of, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

The one that's not in a truck? Truck engines are always tuned down and designed more for hard work and reliability.- 13 replies

Obviously they wanted to do away with them, because it doesn't have them...

It can be familial and still retain the vertical headlamps.

I'm not a fan of the trim but the part that is terrible is the black piece between the trim and door. The "fake" window..?
-
Exactly and it's just been stretched around a larger frame, literally. The design language isn't bad, they just didn't execute it here like they did with the CT4/5/XT4/5. This really needed the vertical headlights and I cannot emphasize that enough.
-
This sucks. The front just looks about as bland as anything. i was really hoping for some tweaks from the rendering we saw. I didn't expect to actually GET the rendering. This needs the large, vertical headlights that really distinguish this. I don't hate the Cadillac design language but I just think it needs "more" here.

Sales: December 2019 Sales Figure Ticker
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
Today was one of those days where I filled up at half a tank because I may get stuck in snow/sleet/ice traffic on my way home and HOPEFULLY that doesn't happen but if it were to, I can sit for a day idling. Also, gas in Missouri is almost $0.30 cheaper than where I'm at in Illinois. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

7500lb towing isn't all that comparable and there are just too many variables that the F150(or add Silverado or Ram) can be had. 7500lb is comparable to the mid-size Colorado, Ranger, Gladiator, Frontier, and Tacoma. -

7500lb towing, what's its payload? I'm not a huge fan of comparisons without the details of each vehicle. They didn't need to choose a 52k F150. With the minute details they chose, you could get an F150 that can tow 7500lbs that can get better than 18mpg for less than 52k. Obviously, they picked and chose criteria that fit their agenda. -

FWIW, I've read the ZR1 Vette has something like 9300 lb-ft of torque in 1st gear when multiplied similarly. -

I cannot see this same platform being able to handle dually HD duties. Those trucks weigh 8000lbs and built to tow 35,000lbs. That's a whole 'nother level of engineering. I'm not saying they can't do it, just that this platform very likely isn't the one to be able to do that.- 59 replies
