  1. I guess the muscle car era is a bit too much for the greenies to bear. Here's to driving my 10MPG (Highway) Camaro!
  2. ABSOLUTE and TOTAL BULL$h! Why doesn't GM just print the list in GREEN for the greenies to jack off over. This is so typically, politically correct garbage. Was the EV1 important? Absolutely. But not this important. And it's shows how out-of-touch GM is with this situation that this car is at the top of the list when the target demographic for it's successor (The Volt) still has images of "Who Killed The Electric Car" dancing through their heads. What?!?!? the bastard child of GM actually gets this much respect? Wow. From a technological standpoint, maybe... From an image standpoint, the '57 trumps this entirely. True that. Umm, what? Saab doesn't even deserve to look at this list, much less be on it, especially this high up. I guess every GM company has a good idea ONCE in a while. 68 will be proud! Nice to see one of GMs secondary brands on here. What about the Corvair? And BTW, the fact that the Saab whatever-the-hell-it-was is above all of these HUGE Cadillac accomplishments is a little hint to the future about how the ddivisional structure will exist. With the need for 'efficient' cars and the dumbing down of all future Cadillac product, it looks as though GME will get it's wish of cadillac being to Saab what Lincoln was to Jaguar.
  3. That's so very true... GM has failed to inform the consumer of what Pontiac and the G8 have to offer. It'd be interesting to see, if Pontiac came out with a modern RWD V8 sports coupe and called it Firebird or Trans Am, what would happen... Give the sedan to Chevrolet as a limited volume Impala.
  4. Not a valid comparison... 5 Series money isn't G8 money. Eventhough the G8 competes with the 5 on a performance basis, you'll not see many BMW buyers (Higher income clientele) coming into a Pontiac showroom. Cadillac CTS? Maybe. Pontiac G8? No. A Better target would be the Charger and 300. And with that market deteriorating like it is, I'd say GM hit the volume target right on the nose.
  5. It is for a halo model.... The G8 was never supposed to be a true GP replacement in that volume was never an issue (from what I understand) It took GM all of $5 to bolt a Pontiac nose on an already engineered Holden. G6 was supposed to pull the volume for the Pontiac division. So, if the Pontiac division is so damaged, then use them as an entry level position for the P/GMC/B channel (As was planned) and produce one or two models (or trim designations) for us enthusiasts that are willing to pay more.
  6. +1 And thats why I'm cautiously optimistic about the future Pontiacs. GM has the option to finally put differentation and identity into the meat of the market for Pontiac. This is because the consumer has NO OTHER CHOICE but to PAY ATTENTION because of high gas prices. CAFE and high gas prices, like it or not (I don't) have CHANGED the game and GM has a REAL opportunity to gain customers and 'right' some damaged brands. (If they take the opportunity) There aren't that many interesting or exciting Delta and Epsilon sized cars on the market. So, FWD, shared Chevy architecture or not, GM could still make things right if it's management hasn't been blinded by corporate politics.
  7. Because it's an easy target... The car is "old school V8" for "rednecks" The agenda for the media is to kill Pontiac and embattle the class that buys cars like the G8. Only luxury seeking YUPPIES should be allowed such a car, I guess. (FWIW, *IF* the Camaro slips, it'll be treated the same way. However, if it were BMW introducing the car and sales weren't great, we wouldn't read a word about it.)
  8. No... And I filled up before the 'panic brigade' started broadcasting 'the end of the world' so I got gas for $3.59 (I've seen this skit before, I guess) And the Focus PWNTs on mileage. That was 5 days ago and I still have a little over 3/4 of a tank.
  9. Well.... It's no Opel... Then again, it's not designed for you effeminate Europeans anyway.
  10. See, the problem with the media (hopefully not the execs at GM) is that they're too ignorant to be up-to-date with the times. Just as they still don't believe that Detroit makes reliable cars, the seem to still WANT to think that every GM division is chasing 'Chevrolet-style' volume. Last I heard, Pontiac is no longer a volume division and neither is Buick for that matter. Hell, Saab and Hummer were NEVER supposed to be. Yet we read this constant rhetoric based on assumptions.
  11. I'm in if I can raise the money. So, I'm about 50% in... LOL.
  12. The problem here (In NC) is that we're supposedly 'Running out" of gas. The convenience store f*ckers are saying that they are spiking prices to keep cadence with each other so that they don't 'get rushed' and run out of fuel faster. Here in Charlotte it's anywhere from $3.89 to $4.29 But back home in Asheville it went crazy... Anywhere from $4.75 to over $6 in remote locations. It's nothing but robbery. Did anyone see the report the other day about our government people sleeping with (literally) and 'drugin' it up' with the big oil reps?!?! If any of our politicians had any balls, they'd put a stop to it. But, the days of america actually being ran by americans (instead of big business and scumbag lawyers) are over. Maybe we can take that $101/barrel oil and burn the place faster. From Gematria (The Killing Name) by Slipknot: "Feed the Hungry - Feed them $h!. Feed them BONES and POLITICS. You wanna revolutionize? Be specific and believe your eyes. Start a war in another backyard. And we'll destroy your house of cards. Give me a minute and I'll change your mind. Give me a bullet and I'll change your life! AMERICA IS A KILLING NAME. IT DOESN'T FEEL OR DISCRIMINATE. LIFE IS JUST A KILLING FIELD. IT'S ALL THAT'S LEFT - NOTHING'S REAL. THROW AWAY YOUR DISPOSABLE PAST. AND FALL APART LIKE A CIGARETTE ASH. WE ARE THE FATAL AND VITAL ONES OF THE WORLD. AND WE WILL BURN YOUR CITIES DOWN."
  13. The RAGEOUS was always my favorite.
  14. Looks just as lame as the new Insignia. A Honda wannabe with a little bit of low level BMW 'melted in'
  15. Yes... This is the Camaro that was promised. Will it eat gas? Yes. Should you buy one if you're worried about that? No. 'nuff said. In a few years we'll get a lighter Camaro (that hopefully still features a V8, if not, I'm out of the fold)
  16. Isn't this a re-post from the GM August sales thread? HERE: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...25386&st=20 I guess this is the new propaganda mantra that's being passed around to try and get GM to kill itself a little more? Or maybe the authors just felt like kicking sand on the centennial of the company (tomorrow)
  17. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this! I want to rent a top option Vette and do it. And I'll graduate next May. Maybe I can give myself a nice graduation gift!
  18. I miss Ross Perot. He was the one who inspired me to become a registered Independent when I turned 18. Back then (when Perot was running -- I was 10 years old) I thought voting actually made a difference.
  19. Best freakin' post EVER!!!!
  20. That's pretty much the stance I take on voting in general... Maybe I can blame it on gas prices. It just costs so damn much to drive back to the booth (2 hours away) Maybe I can establish a new party; the 'negativists' or better yet, 'realists' It's like George Carlin used to say. "I'll be doing the same thing you're doing on election day. Except, when I'm finished, I'll have a little something on my hand to show for it."
  21. Didn't we have an animated gif thread? About the same time the cheesebruger kittens thread popped up? It had that Sparta/Panda bear gif that I dearly love.
  22. Outsourcing... Or helping what little manufacturing we have left in our country (More specifically, Detroit) Simply because I've been on the front lines of that one. I country that cannot create or produce cannot defend itself. We will find that out the hard way.
  23. "To the survival of GM and Detroit" But at the same time: "To the death of fun and interesting cars"
  24. The pic is from the video for by Megadeth. The song is about a corrupt politician, (The guy in the picture) excess, greed and assassination/revolt. (FWIW: I would never want to see any political leader assassinated, just so everyone knows) I picked the image because I think it illustrates what is happening to this country. The smiling politicians are completely out of touch while our country burns "for the [benefit] of the people" and the innocence of future generations (the baby) is what will pay. I thought is was appropriate with the election coming up Megadeth has some excellent videos and music pertaining to politics (Since that is a what Mustaine seems to love to sing about) Here is another good one:
  25. Well, you know what they say. You are what you eat! J/K Sorry man, I just couldn't resist.
