  1. Saturn will probably end up getting a version of the Astra and may even call it that.. that Astra convertible is a sweet car, so is the three door version.. there is a "rumor" that the assembly plant in Lordstown Ohio is going to get a third model. it was on the youngstown ohio news channels last week.. they already have the Chevy Cobalt and soon will have the Pontiac G5..
  2. from what ive heard the Cobalt and G5 will have diffrent interiors but the exterior will be simular.. this will probably be the case until they both recieve a mid cycle face lift probably around 2009.. the G5 will only come as a coupe for the U.S. and they have sales projections of around 30,000 units a year.. i havent heard anything about engines in the G5 though.. if it was me the 2.4L would be standard and the GT would have the 2.0L supercharged from the cobalt SS.. there doesnt need to be a "stripper" model in the G5.. this car will exist for two reasons: Pontiac dealers whining they dont have a "small" car even though they have the Solstice and the Vibe.. arent those small cars?? and another reason is because they think since teenage girls liked the sunfire they will like the G5 too..
  3. (2) Getting an X3 fighter. Cadillac wants to battle BMW's small crossover. It's hunting for a platform because the niche "probably is the next target area for us," Taylor said. can anyone say Cadillac "equinox"?? this would work if it had a upgraded interior, and maybe the 3.6L VVT DOHC V6 under the hood.. it would be sort of a baby escalade..
  4. this article brings back some memories.. as im on my 4th cavalier.. ive had a black 1995 base coupe, a green 1996 base coupe, a red 1997 LS convertible of only 1108 were sold.. and i currently have a 2004 yellow base coupe.. next year ill replace it probably with a 2007 cobalt SS... my other current car is a 2006 pontiac G6 sedan..
  5. the Hummer H4 could be derived from a Short wheel base H3/Colorado platform.. to justify if there probably would be a reskinned Chevy or GMC version as well..
  6. what is this 1975?? i wonder if this car is retrofitted with an 8 track player too!!
  7. the lacrosse ultra will use the same 5.3L V8 as the impala SS.. the W body cars will only last a few more years.. so they arent going to drop alot of money in them.. most of the current W cars will shift to the new RWD platform or the Epsilion II platform.. we will soon start to see the 6 spd auto in the epsilion cars.
  8. I used to work at Lordstown for a year and a half for Pinkerton/Securitas, i was there from may 2002 till november 2003.. are there any truth to the rumor that you guys will be building the Saturn Ion replacement too??
  9. the relay wont die.. even when the new one arrives in 2008 Saturn will get a new one.. the new vans will only be sold as a Chevrolet and a Saturn.. Will this new Saturn "astra" be assembled here or in europe??
  10. [quote Oh, whoopie... Yeah, I'm not very optimistic on this one. Just a Cobalt SS with dual-ports slapped into the fascia design. (Little bit of advice, dual-ports grilles a Pontiac does not make.) there will be diffrent front and rear facias, headlights, tailights on the pontiac wont be round like the cobalt.. you will see diffrent seats and a somewhat diffrent instrument panel.. I'm also glad to see one of the CSV clones getting killed in the process. Although the Pontiac minivan clone probably was the best selling or second best selling van GM had, it had no place in the Pontiac line to start with. And, pretty soon, the damn Terraza will go down with it. And Saturn and Chevy, two brands where a minivan actually fit in, will get the goods. when the new minivans debut for 2008 there wont be a pontiac or a buick version.. only Chevy and Saturn will get versions of the new lambda based minivan..
  11. im thinking it will be Spring hill.. the Saturn Ion goes out of production after the 2007 model year... and rumor has it if there is a new Saturn small car it will be built alongside the Cobalt in Lordstown Ohio... Wilmington is possible also, with just building the Solstice and Sky they are way under capacity.. this used to be the plant that built all the Corsica's and beretta's in the 80's and 90's, it was also used to build most of the malibu's in the late 90's.. Lansing grand river is possible since the camaro would share some parts with the Cadillac CTS, but i doubt they would have the capacity for another car since they already build the CTS, STS and SRX.. Oshwa Ontario is a remote possiblity but unlikely because its current products wont die till atleast 2010, the current Impala and Buick Lacrosse wont be replaced until 2010 at the earliest.. a new grand prix is still atleast 3 or 4 years away.. they could also reverse the decision to close the Oklahoma City plant and assemble them there..
  12. they should call the blue devil a ZR1.. more than likely it will probably have an SS badge on it.. the Camaro would probably start rolling down an assembly line in the fall of 2007.. if it is to be a 2008 model they would have to bring it to market in about 18 months.. could be possible if some of the parts are shared with other GM models.. it would share some suspension parts with the cadillac CTS.. now could the Camaro be built in Lansing alongside the CTS and STS?? my guess is that they couldnt keep up with the CTS, STS, SRX and camaro all at the same time..

  15. actually they might have something to do with it.. GM has to spend alot of money on retirement benefits and health care. so it gives them less money to work with on development, research, advertising, and materials used in the vehicles.. GM also pays its employees alot more for doing the same job.. Honda for example pays its workers about $11.90 starting wage. if GM was to hire a new assembly line worker they would be paid somewhere around $18.00 an hour.. around a $6.00 an hour diffrence.. I know i have worked for GM and for Honda..
  16. now Cadillac and Hummer Cadillac CTS: new model due for 2007 STS: no changes needed DTS: no changes needed BTS: a new entry level FWD sedan, built from the epsilion platform. SRX: no changes needed XLR: no changes ETC: new sigma coupe/convertible URL: ultra luxury sedan to take on big sedans from Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes Hummer H1: redesign due for 2008, will feature better ergonomics. upgraded engines, and better gas milage H2: redesign due on GMT900 platform for 08-09 H3: offer a small V6 engine, maybe the 3.9L V6.. H4: built from a modified H3 this would be a two door soft/hardtop hummer. simular in size to the jeep wrangler.. pickup: this would be a hummer version of the new GMT900 pickups.. it would only come as a regular cab, only in four wheel drive, and only with two engine choices the 6.0L V8 and a diesel as an option..
  17. now ill do Pontiac, GMC and Buick, saab and saturn Buick Lacrosse: its time to ditch the 3800 V6, make the 3.6L dohc V6 the base engine.. would move to smaller Epsilion platform on next redesign.. Lucerne: see lacrosse lambda crossover: too new to comment, looks like a winner though Rendevous: dead after 2006 model year. Rainier: dead after 2007 model year. Terazza: dead after 2007 model year. zeta sedan: what we need here is a RWD sedan that will take on the chrysler 300.. it will be a reskinned next gen Impala.. Rivera: this would be built on the FWD epsilion platform and would in essence be a reskinned pontiac G6 coupe.. although it would be more upscale and only come with the 3.6L dohc V6.. Invicta: this would be a buick version of the next generation cadillac CTS although it would be slightly smaller and would compete with the BMW 3 series and lexus IS. GMC Canyon: would get the same upgrades as the Colorado pickup. Cyclone: the return of the super quick compact truck of the early 90's.. it would be basically a Canyon pickup with a turbo charged 3.9L V6 Envoy: a new model is due for 2008.. Sierra: new model for 2007 Lambda crossover: new for 2007 Savana: no changes yukon: new model just going on sale. looks like a winner.. Pontiac Vibe: will be redesigned for 2007-08 on corolla platform Solstice: add a hardtop hatchback coupe.. G6: replace the pushrod V6's with the 2.8L and 3.6L dohc V6's.. upgrade the interior quality.. SV6: dead after 2007 Torrent: same upgrades as the Equinox Grand Prix: replace it with a RWD Zeta sedan GTO: new one due for 08 or 09, this one will share parts and a assembly line with the Camaro. it will be more retro styled.. G4: a reskined Chevy Cobalt.. no sheetmetal would be common on both of the cars except the roof.. and unlike the chevy the pontiac would only come as a coupe.. it would also have a diffrent interior.. Saturn Ion: replaced with a version of the European Opel Astra, would come in 3 door hatchback, 4 door sedan and a wagon.. Vue: new model for 2007, a shorter wheelbase version of the chevy equinox Aura: new model for 2007 Sky: new model for 07 Outlook: new lambda crossover for 2007 minivan: redesigned on the lambda platform for 2008 Zeta sedan: this would be a RWD sedan and would be a version of the next impala, grand prix.. Saab: 9-2X replaced with a AWD delta platform vehicle.. 9-3 redesigned for 2008/09 9-5 would be moved to the RWD sigma platform.. would be based on the current Cadillac STS.. 9-7X redesigned for 08, still based on the Trailblazer.. 9-1: a kappa roadster.. 9-4X a reskinned Chevy Equinox..
  18. here is how i would fix GM.. feel free to comment on any of my ideas!! let me first start with Chevrolet.. Chevrolet: Aveo: the 2007 redesign helps alot, but i would add a hot 3 door hatchback, also id add a "RS" model, avalible in the sedan and 3 door it would be powered by the 145 hp 2.2L ecotec.. Cobalt: add a hybrid model, offer a AWD version with a 250hp turbo 4cyl to take on the imports, change the sedans rear tailights to make them round like the coupe.. offer better interior appointments even if you have to raise the price $500.00!! drop the 2.2L ecotec from the coupes and make the 2.4L ecotec standard.. the sedan would still offer the 2.2L Malibu: a new model is coming for 2008/09 and i heard its larger and we will finally have a legit camry and accord fighter.. i just hope the new one offers the 3.6L dohc V6!! Impala: this would switch to the Rwd zeta platform.. it would allow for gm to take back some of the taxi/police market from Ford.. i would throw in a few "retro" cues from 60's impala's, top engine would be a 400hp 6.0L V8.. Camaro: would return in 2008 very simular to the current concept.. Monte Carlo: with the camaro returning, you could do one of two things with this car.. eiether make it a cheaper version of the next gen GTO on the zeta platform.. or shift it to the FWD epsilon platform, where it would be a rebodied G6 coupe.. HHR: offer the 2.0L supercharged from the cobalt SS.. Silverado: new model next year, not enough data to comment Colorado: give the front facia and the interior a much needed facelift.. the inline 5 isnt cutting it as the top engine.. maybe even offer the 3.9L OHV V6.. this will likely be used in a RWD application in the camaro so why not here?? Express: make a short wheelbase version to replace the departed Astro van.. minivan: a new one is coming built on the lambda platform.. can we FINALLY build a van that can defeat the caravan and honda odessey?? Equinox: can we please drop the 3.4L?? make the 3.5L standard and eiether the 3.9L ohv V6 or the 3.6L dohc V6 an option?? make a SS version with eiether the 3.6 or 3.9L, lowered suspension and 20" wheels..
  19. the next Generation Lacrosse will probably move to the Epsilion II platform. the Lacrosse, Malibu, Aura Saab 9-3 and G6 will probably all be built on this platform.. probably just in sedan form for the Buick.. but id like to see a Buick Epsilion coupe maybe a return or the Rivera?? sort of like a reskinned Pontiac G6 coupe..
  20. the next generation Malibu will grow in size to better take on the Accord and Camry.. ive heard it looks good even better than the Saturn Aura.. there probably wont be a Maxx version, the maxx will get the axe after the 2007 model year.. what ive heard is the next Malibu, the Pontiac G6, the Saturn Aura and the next gen. Buick Lacrosse will be all be built on the Epsilion platform and will be simular in size, a two door lacrosse is also possible which could mark the return of eiether the Regal or Rivera.. if the Velite isnt green lighted.. the lacrosse will get somewhat smaller because the "zeta" Buick will be slotted inbetween the lacrosse and the lucerne.. a "zeta" Impala will allow it to compete with the dodge charger, ford 500 and crown victoria..
  21. I wonder if a full size regular cab Hummer pickup truck based off the 2008 GMT900 could be a posibility? would it just steal sales from Chevy and GMC pickups? any thoughts? really the only thing to add to Hummer would be a pickup truck and maybe a smaller Hummer, a two door simular to the jeep wrangler..
  22. it wont be FWD.. why would they do that when they already have the Cobalt SS and the G6 coupes? they already have FWD coupes covered.. and if you throw in the Monte Carlo a FWD camaro would be useless and would compete with those models too much..
  23. i wonder where these vehicles would be assembled.. by the looks of it Oshwa ontario is probably going to be the location of assembly.. the next generation Buick Lacrosse will move to the epsilion platform and will be built in lake orion michigan alongside the pontiac G6. after this happens it will be the end of the W platform. as the Impala, and Grand Prix shift to the RWD Zeta platform.. the future of the monte carlo seems to be up in the air, it will be a rebodied next generation GTO, or like the Lacrosse it could shift to the epsilion platform, having both the camaro and monte carlo both RWD probably wont happen, they would compete too much with each other.. its looking like "Zeta" will consist of: a Buick sedan, it will be positioned between the lacrosse and lucerne, the lacrosse will get smaller as it shifts to the epsilion platform.. the Camaro, the next generation Pontiac GTO. the grand prix sedan Impala sedan and a Saturn sedan/wagon which will be that brands flagship car and will be slotted above the Aura..
  24. id say just build a Chevrolet minivan only.. they are the only division that needs one.
  25. im wondering which north american factory will build the Camaro if it is greenlighted?? the next GTO and a Buick sedan will probably share an assembly line.. those three cars will be enough to support a whole assembly plant.. I bet next year we will see concepts of the next gen GTO and the buick sedan.. maybe if these cars are produced maybe it will save one of GM's factories it plans on closing!! id say build them in Oklahoma city keep the plant open!!
