2005 EquinoxLS

Hopefully though the new 6 speed is more reliable than the first 4-sppeds were in 1981 like in my Bonneville. I worry a bit since its so new. I think if I got an Aura I would lease it like the Equinox so I am not stuck long term with a first year vehicle and some of the trouble that can come with it.

Is that a surprise? The Cobalt coupe I drove while the Equinox was in for service was quite good in my opinion. It was as quiet as my Equinox in most places.

It certainly has been warmer than normal for a while now. We havent really had a cold winter for quite some time. I remember when we moved here in 1978 it wasnt uncommon to get a -30 night. Now it doesnt happen hardly at all. And 100 degree days were not common at all back then but now the last 3 summers it has happened at least once a summer. I wouldnt be so quick though to call it global warming as much as a natural cycle of the earth. We will just have to see though. Wont we?

I usually use the Lipton onion soup recipe. 2 pounds of 90% lean hamburger from the local meat place and one pack of Lipton onion soup and I think 1/3 cup of water. Mix very well.

I have the regular NES that I bought just before they came out with the Super Nintendo. I also have one of the last ones of the Super Nintendos and I also have a Sony Playstation. Also a regular Gameboy and a Gameboy Color. Plus a few games for the computer.

It has been pretty warm here too. It is 46 Degrees here in Northeast Wisconsin at 12:51 P.M I hear though that by next weekend it will be much colder. Time to get the Christmas stuff down outside before it starts to get really cold.

Very nice example. The only thing for me would be the engine it has. Seen too many of these early 231s blow up. It wasnt until 1986 that they actually started making something of these engines. Still if you drove it like I do the Bonneville which is about 2000 miles a year it should last a while. Lets hope that whoever buys this doesnt ruin it by putting 30 inch tires and pimping it out or driving it through winters.

We had some sirloin patties from the local meat market for supper. Those are always so good with a slive of cheese. I dont buy meat from most stores after getting it from Haens(The local meat market) for 10 years. They do the whole process from breeding and grwing the animals to slaughter to making the different things.

The 2000-2007 Monte Carlo. People berate it for being FWD but I liked mine in the time I had it. Everything doesnt have to be RWD to be any good.

I will be going to a house party. I am liking that better than going to the bar and having all the cops around.

I was invited to a house party so I may go to that. The nice thing about that is I dont have to be driving all over. Just across town. I can live with that.

I like some things better tha others. Fuel Injection and the modern ignition systems are the best things they ever came out with. I like the AWD setup in the Equinox also. I m not sure about drive-by-wire. Though I cant tell the difference that the Equinox doesnt have an accelarator cable until I engage the cruise control and the gas pedal doesnt go down that tiny bit like it does in the Bonnevile. I wish you could just order a car without a radio with the thought that you would put your own in like I used to do and have done with the Bonneville. If you want a different radio other than factory removing the factory radio also disables other things. That I dont like. As for reliability I keep the Bonneville because it is somewhat simple. I like my new cars like my Equinox and the 2000 Monte Carlo but I dont want to keep them for more than 4-5 years and 48,000-60,000 miles. Thats why I leased my Equinox.

The XB does so well because it comes from Toyota. If it was from the big 2.5 it would be the worst thing since the Vega. 1. The XB. What an ugly piece of tin. 2. The Most Toyotas and Hondas though they show signs of a slowdown in their quality and workmanship.

As far as I know my 1981 Bonneville is pretty much all U.S made. The Equinox on the other hand................... I did tell the salesman that while I am buying this Equinox I am not pleased that some of it is foreign made. At least where I work I know our circuit boards are assembled here in the U.S. Because I help assemble them.

Nice car!!. There arent very many of them left here in Northeast Wisconsin. Those tended to be rust buckets so to see one on that shape is astonishing.

I definatly think too that there is room for a FWD coupe. Most people around here dont want to deal with RWD in the winter. The Monte Carlo has been a fair seller here. You see quite a few of them on the road.

If it is like most cars, if it had stereo speakers there would be a 4 by 6 on each corner of the dash. If it had the monoural radio it would have one 4 by 10 in the center of the dash. You will have to take the dashtop off in any case to get to them. I must remind you if the dashtop is in perfect shape BE CAREFUL when you handle it. Doesnt take much to crack these things.

It was a pretty good car. I put 2 EGR valves,a blower motor and the intake manifold gasket in it in the time I had it. It was very good on gas. That is the one thing I did give up a bit with the Equinox never mind it has the same area. It was just getting to where it wasnt practical like it was in the beginning.

Yes. I didnt find anything. I think my Bonneville is one of about maybe 3-4 in this area.

1981 Chevrolet Caprice. V6. 2-door. Bought with 116,000 miles in December of 1993. Gave to my sister in June 1995 with 134,000 when I got the next car 1979 Chevrolet Impala. 305 V8. 4-door. Bought June 26th 1995 from a neighbor whos mother had to go in a nursing home. It was the mothers car and it only had 68,500 miles. 1981 Pontiac Bonneville. 307 V8. 4-door. Bought in October of 1998 to go with the Impala from my grandmother. It needed transmission work and she didnt want to spend any more money on it. She took that as the time to get something brand new. It had 75,000 miles on it. I still have it now with 113,000 miles on it and the only rust is one area where you dont really see it. I never drive it on snow or bad weather. That was what the 1979 was for until..................................... July 1st 2001 I was in to the dealer to get a part for the 1979 when I started looking at 4 2000 Monte Carlos that were off program rental status. The next day my dad and I went to take one for a test drive. I wanted the black one but it was nowhere to be found. I instead took the grey one out. I showed different people and they all convinced me that the grey one was a better color as far as keeping it clean here in the winter. July 6th 2001 I took delivery of it with 28,600 miles. My first modern car. I never regreted getting it. Sold the 1979 The next day with 145,000 miles. March 2005. The Monte Carlo is now getting close to 60,000 miles. The Chicago auto show had given me the itch to look for something different. plus the 2-door body style of the Monte Carlo was starting become a liability since I drive my parents around more. I did look at a Malibu Maxx but found I could get a nice lease deal on an Equinox so I though Why not step up a bit. March 17th 2005 Took delivery of it with 231 miles on it with a 4 year lease with 12,000 miles. As of today it has just over 13,200 miles. I have had a few problems with it but I like it. Next time may be the same thing or maybe a HHR. Sorry to get detailed like this but sometimes I do that. Sometimes I wish I could have kept the 1979. I liked it a lot. But no place to put it.

I used to be one of those really nice guys that would do anything for anybody. I have a little speech issue and maybe a slight slowness if you will. A lot of people have taken advantage of that in the past. I have had to become not so nice all the time and learn to not allow people to take advantage of the situation. I am doing a lot better now.
