  1. Both of the horns on my 1981 Bonneville work like new. The one on the Equinox works well too.
  2. We have a GE refrigerator with a date on the back of 1953. Works perfectly. It was passed down from my grandparents to my parents when they bought new appliances in about 1982. I think the fact it works perfectly is due to the fact it was made well and it was ALWAYS defrosted when it was supposed to be. It cools just like brand new. You cant even hear it run. We have a Maytag heavy-duty washer from 1986 that still works perfectly. My 1981 Hotpoint microwave is finally dying. The fan motor is growling in it. before that it was perfect.
  3. The Toyota Previa isnt far behind.
  4. Sometimes I feel that way too and I am only 31. I still live with my parents though I help them out and pay them quite a bit to be there. All of my friends are married and with kids. Now I dont hardly get to see them at all. I am to the point I dont like people pushing their relationships on me as far as their problems or arguements. I dont care about how they spend their free time or other things. Also my taste for music may seem a little old fashioned compared to the younger 18-20 somethings. I dont think 50-cent is somebody to look up to. Surviving a few bullet wonds because you were a retard and joined a gang isnt cool. I dont get into the rest of that scene and the music that goes with it. Give me some good old fashioned Ozzy Osbourne,Slipknot, Alan Parsons and other things. I dont get into 50Cent,or any of that other stuff.
  5. I live in a city of about 12,000 people. Kaukauna Wisconsin to be exact. I have lived in the same house since November 5th 1978. I will be moving in August though because the city is tearing down our house which was built in 1901 to make a right turn lane(We live on a corner). Much as my parents and I like our 1901 house the one we are getting built will be MUCH nicer in a lot of ways. No hill, new electrical,2 bathrooms on the same floor and more good things.
  6. Flashing means its misfiring. Maybe due to the unhooked O2 sensor.
  7. Every car I have gotten was a wanted one. And I have yet to be dissapointed in any of my purchases.
  8. I live by the saying of look but dont touch.
  9. I also had a rattle in mine but it was the steering column. They also replaced the steering rack twice trying to get rid of noises. The finally succeded with the steering column.
  10. I traveled for work once. We had to go and inspect some boards at a customer. The one we were in was VERY nice. at $110 a night it was very good.
  11. I am not quite where I thought I would be when I graduated high school but in another twist I cant really complain too much about where I am. I have a fairly good job where they are good to me and I am treated with respect. I live at home which does present some challenges but it also helps me in a lot of way also. Mainly with money but there are other reasons for living at home. We are getting a new house in August because the city bought ours built in 1901 to tear down for a street project. I am looking forward to it.
  12. Got the Bonneville out after I got a new battery for it( The one in it was 5 years old). Pretty soon I will get the A/C fixed. Seems like every spring I go to try it and it doesnt cool. Last year it was a compressor seal. Year before it was a cracked piece that bolts to the compressor. Lucky its the R-134 Freon and not the expensive R-12.
  13. Or the V6 powered G-bodies with 110 horsepower. Or the Caprice/Impalas with the 229 V6. RWD isnt everything. I liked my 2000 Monte Carlo while I had it.
  14. I avoid McDonalds and Birger Kind whenever possible. I usually go to Culvers or Toms if I want fast food. At least there you get something decent. I will go to Hardees for the Ham and Cheese but thats about it. I have seen people walk though the drive-thru because there were too many people inside.
  15. I am pretty specific about which pockets things go in as well. Right pocket. Wallet,Change. Left pocket. Keys, Flashlight. Do not smoke in my cars. I control the radio. You may ask for a station change but it is my say as to if it gets done. I control the climate. I will not roast in my car just so somebody else can roll down the window just to look cool when it is 90 degrees outside.
  16. We are going to brunch at the Darboy club. My parents,me,my sister, and her 4 kids. Should be nice.
  17. My Equinox is pretty good in spite of what some of the magazines say. The only thing you hear out of the Bonneville is the exhaust thats on it. It shakes at idle but that is due to what I think is a vacuum leak which I cannot find.
  18. I drove a lon g wheelbase 2500 Chevy van with the 6.0 liter and I didnt think it was so bad. I figured about 16-17 mpg for what we did with it which we thought was very good for the huge size of it and the power it had. I thought it had a really good amount of power.
  19. I generally dont like to keep a new car longer than about 3-4 years and/or 36-48,000 miles. I like to be able to get rid of it while it is still worth something and before I have to start replacing things like tires, brakes, etc. I dont mind keeping the 1981 and doing things with it. That car is made a lot different than todays cars and I feel it is made more for long term keeping.
  20. I wouldnt buy a Hybrid. The battery replacement costs alone would be too much. Do you really save enough gas to make it worthwhile? Not to mention how do we dispose of all those batteries? Sounds like a short term fix to me.
  21. I believe it goes to a vote.
  22. I do sometimes but I dont go out of my way to find a station that has it. If I get to Kwik Trip and need gas then I will get some of the top tier gas.
  23. Nothing surprises me any more. After seeing some of the stuff I have both at my place of employment and at some of the local clubs and bars nothing surprises me.
  24. I have gotten a Cobalt a few times while the Equinox was in the shop and I must say it is such an improvement over the Cavalier that it isnt even measurable. Cant compare to a Corolla because I havent driven one but it is nice. A little small for my taste but I will give credit where credit is due. It rides like a larger car and the engine is as quiet as a lot of larger cars.
  25. Its also the same year the Caprice got the rectangular headlights. The Impala though didnt get them until the 1977 redesign. Come to think of it the 1976 Malibu also got the regtangular headlights. Dont worry Knightfan, I can usually pinpoint what year an Impala/Caprice or even a Bonneville is just by looking at the subtle things.
