  1. Yeah, but those will probably stay high in price...aren't they only building like 1000 of them?
  2. I'm not likely to purchase anything within the next 3-5 years, since my Jeep has less than 50k miles--- but hypothetically if I were to get a new sedan about the only domestic ones I'd consider would be the Chrysler 300 or Charger....or maybe lease a sports sedan like a Giulia, 3 series, Q50, or G70...one of those would be nice...have thought about doing something like that. I'd rather go CPO than new, though, an off-lease CT5 or CT6 with low miles could be a good buy...
  3. One thing I like a lot about the older cars are the colorful interiors and horizontal dash designs...more interesting than the lumpy 50-shades-of-gray plastic interiors that became so common in the 90s...
  4. Heh-heh... I'd like to see a shop that is creative w/ the cut and paste build a 2dr retractable roof Escalade coupe, using the roof and decklid from an XLR. It's too bad they didn't build a 2dr retractable roof coupe version of the ATS or CTS...
  5. Camaro and Malibu are likely gone in a few years...
  6. Nothing official about that yet, though? Just a rumor at this point I thought...
  7. Well, they are in the same ballpark....adequate for the use case...these aren't F350 crew cab duallies.
  8. So I wonder what will happen to the Blackwing V8? I thought the Chinese market CT6 was mostly 2.0 4s. Will this engine just be another GM waste, or will it end up in a higher performance version of the C8?
  9. 99% of the buyers probably won't care or notice if it's a V6 or V8, and as long at lasts 3 years for a lease that will be fine for most consumers....yes, enthusiasts might prefer a V8, but most of the market aren't enthusiasts...
  10. And the Navigator has 500 ft/lbs of torque while the Escalade has 460. Sounds like it's more than adequate.
  11. I just can't see them succeeding against the established brands...so many models in the compact and midsize luxury segment...there is nothing special about them.
  12. Oh I know about the CT4 and CT5....never see them, though...part of the problem with the CT4 and CT5 as far competing against others in the compact and midsize luxury market (M-B, BMW) is the lack of body styles...no coupes, no convertibles...albeit those are a small niche, but for luxury cars, why not? Instead Cadillac keeps pushing the generic XT* crossovers....volume lease appliances.
  13. I think they are settling for competing at the tier 2 level, against Lexus's FWD based generic CUVs rather than competing at the top level...since transverse engine/FWD mediocrity fits their model. Basically rebodied mediocre appliances also seen at Chevy, Buick/GMC dealers with different chrome trim and styling, but the same soulless gray plastic mediocrity at the core. Forgettable appliances.
  14. Very true...the masses that lease generic CUVs are the core of the market. GM is focusing on vanilla lease appliances, trying to be like Toyota. Vehicles so boring that most will not be remembered in 5-10 years. And they are wasting names that had some potential like Trailblazer and Blazer on generic CUVs; what if the Ford Bronco is successful? GM has nothing like that and is unlikely to do anything like that because it doesn't fit the transverse engine generic mediocre configuration... I suspect the CT4 and CT5 are doomed also...
  15. I kind of like them because they are so unique and that they take away the practical use of crossovers. It would be even cooler if they did a folding hard roof version---that could work as a 2dr hardtop crossover. I'd love to see a full size luxury SUV in such a bodystyle--a Lincoln Navigator or Escalade 2dr hardtop/cabriolet, for example... something different from the usual predictable 5dr CUV or SUV...
  16. Yeah, my Dad pretty much only bought Ford-Lincoln-Mercury products for nearly 50 years. Exceptions included a Hino Contessa when they lived in Saipan in the 60s, a '79 Dodge Power Wagon pickup, and an '81 Chevette as a dinghy for the RV. Problem is leather is about all that is available anymore in anything remotely 'premium'. I used sheepskin seat covers in Arizona.
  17. Another Big 80s GM biggie I've always liked since seeing them back in the day was the Electra Park Avenue...love the crisp lines of the C- bodies of that era. An Aunt had a blue one, tried to talk my Dad into test driving Buicks or Cadillacs, but he was a Lincoln Town Car man...
  18. It is funny, but usually I don't like white cars, but love white Cadillacs w/ red interiors...as an impressionable teenager i loved the '86 Fleetwood Brougham in 'Color of Money'... I love this burgundy cloth interior...
  19. Robots still take a lot of space, though less than human resource units.
  20. Seems like they are targeting BMW and M-B specifically....Genesis sedans are RWD/AWD also. Lexus' RX may be higher volume, but I wouldn't seriously compare it to the GLE or X5/X6...
  21. A version w/ woodgrain side trim and white walls would be a nice 'Town & Country' wagon...
  22. Yeah, I didn't look up the specifics, going off memory.. too bad about the the Golf, but I haven't seen a non-GTI Golf in ages.
  23. Perhaps...fewer parts to assemble on the line? Electric motors and battery packs instead of an ICE powertrain?
  24. Some randomness on a cold evening...some vintage big Chevys I like...
