  1. As far as ATS variants go, there is also the long wheelbase version, presumably for China where BMW has a 3-series LWB, M-B a C-class LWB, etc.. [picture removed]
  2. I had one of these as a rental in Long Beach last year. Was white... http://www.cheersandgears.com/topic/81519-2013-toyota-camry-mini-rental-review/
  3. One problem w/ the naming is by having the C-segment car named 'ATS' where do they go with names if they decide to do a B-segment entry eventually to compete w/ the BMW 1/2 series, Audi A3, M-B A/CLA ?
  4. Those definitely seem reasonable...got to have a convertible in this segment, and Europe likes wagons. See A4/A5, 3/4 series, C class...all have at least 4 bodystyles.
  5. The fold down center armrest in a coupe seems like an anachronism back to the olden days of large '70s 'personal luxury' coupes. The 4 series, ATS, etc are all pretty tiny in the back...pretty much a place for children or child seats. Though the best use of a coupe back seat is folded down to increase cargo space.
  6. My cars stayed registered in my Dad's name and on his insurance through college and grad school to avoid the high cost.
  7. My Mom in rural Ohio has natural gas...sometimes the gas goes out in winter, but she has heating oil as a backup (two furnaces). Had our own on-property natural gas well for about 40 years.
  8. Yeah... in my commute, the morning drive getting to work is usually smooth and fast...coming home, another story...choice of bumper-to-bumper freeway stop and go slog or surface streets with many traffic lights...
  9. They should just suffix the LWB model with L (like they used to) and the longer LWB as XL.
  10. Don't know how you keep trading cars w/o losing money or getting a bad deal. I'm at the opposite extreme--get a car, keep it 10 years, 15 years, 25 years...
  11. It was pretty rare that I carried passengers in the back seat in the 20 years I drove coupes....once in a while I'd go out to lunch at work and drive my Mustang GT or M3 and have people pile in, or in college when I had my Mustang LX....but usually someone had a 4dr car or SUV that we would take. And if I was going to out to dinner w/ a group riding w/ me I'd take my Jeep. And before the Jeep, I had 2dr SUVs which were a pain to get in and out of the backseat..
  12. Urban Dictionary has been a standard resource for slang online for years...I even have contributed an entry or two.
  13. Probably some kind of stupid internet meme that only the Gen Y kiddos can understand, I guess. Interesting...clicking on the icon goes to the urban dictionary definition. Ok. It sort of makes sense, but not really. I like verbs.
  14. The name 'Maybach' seems to have resonance with some segments of the target market, though--hip hop moguls and high-end drug dealers.
  15. Translate to English? ... Anddddd point proven. No offense, Moltar. What you posted isn't even readable..there is no verb.. "People who can't into basic sociology." doesn't parse..
  16. Bull$h!. Maybe that logic flies in a brand like KIA or Hyundai, but this is Cadillac...or at least it's supposed to be. People buy 4 doors if they are interested in the back seat...it's an afterthought in a coupe. Besides, looking at pics of the ATS coupe, C-class coupe, 4 series and CTS coupe, there are armrests in the rear side panels and a center console w/ cup holder area. All pretty much the same layout. So I don't see what you are bitching about. ATS coupe: C class coupe: 4 series: CTS:
  17. A modern Syclone and Typhoon would be cool...even cooler would be an Escalade V series w/ the CTS-V engine.
  18. No biggie... people w/ coupes don't carry back seat passengers very often anyway...the backseat passengers can just ride w/ their arms on their legs, I guess.
  19. I'd imagine many young drivers would give up driving and get a bicycle or bus pass after dealing with the despair of a cheap worn out 20 yr old car that breaks constantly. Even 25 years ago I knew that $1000 or less cars were the ones to avoid like the plague.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Yes...the crowds were huge, esp. yesterday...was never sure whether I was too close or too far...also was using my phone camera rather than my regular camera.
  22. http://public.fotki.com/robertwadehall/az-auto-auctions-2014/ I went to the Gooding & Company auction on Friday and Barrett-Jackson Friday and Saturday, took a few pics at the link above. Saw quite a few interesting cars, incl. a McLaren F1 LM (first I'd ever seen in person), 1998 Ferrari F1 car, various '50s-60s Ferraris, Maseratis, Lancias, Alfas, and countless muscle cars and '50s-70s American iron. Fun weekend. At the GM exhibit saw the '14 Camaro Z/28 in matte pearl white (Rick Hendrick bought it for $650k or so), saw and sat in a silver Chevy SS and dark red '14 CTS V-sport....really liked the SS and CTS in person, look better than in photos.
  23. One thing I didn't realize until I'd seen a few up close then looked up the dimensions is how large they are...the new Cherokee is actually slightly larger in the major dimensions than the 1st and 2nd gen Grand Cherokees were...
  24. Sharp design...some interesting details..I like the taillights....the side window profile has a SAAB vibe to it... love the color, very '70s color.
