Saw in traffic tonight a red Citroen DS 21, somewhat of a patina to the paint. Solid condition, rear went low when it would pull away after a stop (funky hydraulic suspension?). Also saw a bright red Ferrari F360 Challenge Stradale..I still prefer the 360 styling over the 430 and 488..

They are somewhat since the 2-Series is the sister car to 1-Series Hatchback. Reportedly, the Active Tourer (BMW's first FWD model) will be wearing the 2-Series moniker as well. It will; there was a spy shot of the FWD-based MPV wearing a 2-something designation... This one I can understand as it is targeting the 5-door A5 buyers, but the FWD MPV naming as a 2-Series whent he coupe/convertible stay as RWD models is really weird to say the least... The Active Tourer is more of a minivan/tall wagon, though...I wonder though if they will have a 2 series Gran Coupe like this..niches within niches with niches.. It'll be named the 2-Series GT apparently... Since the 2-Series is RWD it's kinda strange to pair the two IMHO... Don't think there will be a 2-Series Grand Coupe; this 4-door coupe thing doesn't fit well with smaller cars like the 2-Series... True, and presumably the 1 series will still have conventional 3dr and 5dr hatchbacks like it does now..and maybe add a 4dr for the NA market to compete w/ the CLA...

I have explosive diarrhoea. Not sure if it's a reaction to the way the Super Bowel is going or if it's from the BBQ pork, chips and queso and Colorado beer...

I wonder if they will repeat this pattern w/ the 2-series..

I assume styling is big part of the equation, though..GM is thinking they can charge a premium for the dramatic styling. The i3 is a hideous econobox in comparison....

Don't knock it till you try it. It took me about 3 seconds to get used to it and I like it. Does it still have the usual auto trans behaviors--- you still do the normal press the brake to go to reverse? Have to be in park to start?

A rotary knob sounds very strange for a shifter..I'd rather have a column shifter or a normal console shifter.

Lincoln News: Lincoln Unveils the 2015 Lincoln Navigator
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Lincoln
One thing I realized today listening to the Autoblog podcast (and went back and re-read the article) is the new Navi is V6 only. Interesting--no more V8s for Lincoln. I guess this is an attempt to lower the CAFE rating.- 30 replies

In a typical week, I probably see more Teslas than Jags around here...Jaguars are pretty scarce. Saw an XJ the other day that was so striking in a deep maroon red...I love the roofline of the current XJ, but the rear end is dreadful, IMO...
-
For some reason, whenever I see a Jaguar XF in profile I think of the Pontiac G8..the greenhouse is so similar in profile... Saw a very sharp black w/ black wheels G8 GXP today...

The Citroen SM is hella cool.. my '70s Euro dream car garage would have one, along w/ an Alfa Romeo Montreal, BMW 6-series, Ferrari Daytona and Dino, '73 Porsche 911 RS, '76 Porsche 930 Turbo, '79 Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9.

Lincoln News: Lincoln Unveils the 2015 Lincoln Navigator
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Lincoln
The Navigator's main competition is the Yukon and Escalade, I suppose. Also the Lexus LX and Infiniti QX..the big truck-based V8 luxo SUVs. I can't imagine anyone cross shopping the Navi w/ European SUVs, though. As far as Lincoln sedans and CUVs, they target Acura, Buick, and the appliance end of Lexus (ES/RX), I would say...- 30 replies

Yes...same cab since 99...the Expedition has had the same greenhouse and doors since MY '97..cheap ass bastards.... Ford has a history of this--the F series had two mild facelifts and went from '80-96. The current E-series van dates to '92 with a few nose jobs since then. Of course, GM has done this also--the '73-87 trucks and the vans have had long lifespans..- 30 replies

Aren't many Audis aluminum bodied? The previous generation of BMW 5 series had a lot of aluminum but they abandoned that and went back to mostly steel w/ the current generation, IIRC...

Cadillac News: Spying: Cadillac's Flagship Is Alive!

Cound be nice...they could in theory develop a V8 from the DOHC V6, right? As a Caddy exclusive. -
I love many cars of the '70s...the decade started out at the peak of the muscle car era--the year I was born. And though power dropped through out the decade, I love so many of the styles of cars of that decade...the green and brown land yachts--massive 2dr coupes, convertibles, 4dr hardtops, huge wagons w/ woodgrain...'personal luxury' coupes of all shapes and sizes...and the downsized full sizers toward the end of the decade that are huge by today's standards....and best of all, most cars of the 70s were still RWD, what with FWD relegated to import subcompacts and a couple-three big GM coupes.

They still haven't gotten rid of the '97 vintage doors or greenhouse, looks like. Amazing... I like the dash treatment, similar to the current model w/ the two pods. Got the whole '70s Oldsmobile tribute going on w/ the grille, more so than other Lincolns.. Someone at Lincoln really likes the '71-72 Cutlass grille treatment..- 30 replies

The upcoming Chinese market ATS LWB may have the foot rests and trays..

Yeah..I've never dabbled in photoshop. But I'm trying to visualize an ATS Formal sedan w/ a squared off roofline and rear doors, vertical rear window, whitewall tires and wire wheels..maybe w/ carriage roof w/ small rear window. In the opposite direction, I'd like to see an ATS 4dr coupe-- frameless door glass, sleek CTS coupe style fastback roofline..

Cadillac News: Spying: Cadillac's Flagship Is Alive!
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Base engine? Both the S-class and 7 series have 6 cyl base models. I can't see GM investing in a proper DOHC V8 for this, so it will probably get a corporate pushrod V8.
