  1. Something like that, but more serious...the M-B Black Series cars have a lot of performance enhancements, lightening, etc..
  2. Sure, why not..there is always room for excess..V++ models would be interesting. More power, exclusive interior trim, exclusive wheels, etc..
  3. The current models have been around since MY '08, so it's time for a new one..
  4. A buddy of mine in Colorado has never had a front plate or a front plate bracket on his '91 NSX...in the 15 years he's had the car, he's always just laid the front plate on top of the dash visible through the windshield...never had a ticket that I know of. I know other people in Colorado that had cars from 1-plate states that did the same thing. I've never understood the fear of two plates that some people have, but some cars do look better without a front plate bracket, esp. the cheap plastic cheesy ones a lot of newer cars have. My sister's DTS has a flush cover over where the front plate goes, looks factory, will have to remove it eventually when she needs a plate..
  5. Happy Birthday!
  6. Googled it..only 19 states are 1 plate only. Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Interesting that all the states that border Ohio are 1 plate states.
  7. Body look solid...wonder if it still has the original engine and transmission?
  8. Saw a '73 Laguna 4dr and a '66/67 Riviera in a parking lot this afternoon, both may have had their original paint with a patina of age and wear..both looked quite restorable. Also saw a very clean '69 dark blue w/ white vinyl top '69 Galaxie 500 coupe.
  9. I like the exterior styling of the Caprice PPV, but the interior is too plain and gray...too bad we can't get a consumer version here w/ an LTZ interior trim.
  10. For me, a decontented SS is not on my desired list; I want this: I prefer the look and elegance of the longer Zeta. Sportier cars should be smaller, like the SS. I don't want sporty per say; I want entry level luxury/touring. I like the looks of the Holden Caprice V..would make a nice Caprice Classic here...I like its front end much more than the overwrought SS front end.

  12. Saw this today on Motor Authority, speculation about an NA-built NG SS on 'Zeta II' (Alpha?)...no idea how accurate it is, but interesting.. Chevrolet’s new SS muscle sedan has just arrived on the market but production of the car will last only until the end of 2017--at the latest--since the only place in the world it is produced at, Holden’s plant in Australia, has been confirmed to shut by the same date. Could the SS end up a one-hit wonder like two previous Holden-built cars sold here, the Pontiac GTO and G8? Not likely, says a new report. Car and Driver is reporting that a successor is planned, based on a heavily updated version of the Zeta platform found in the current SS (the most recent update was only a minor one). This updated platform, code-named Zeta II, is said to be used for both an SS successor and a new sports wagon that successor will spawn. The wagon has previously been hinted at by General Motors product chief Mark Reuss and may end up reviving Chevy’s Nomad nameplate. A successor for Chevy’s Caprice PPV, which is essentially a tamer, long-wheelbase version of the current SS, is also said to be planned. While the Caprice PPV has proven popular amongst police testers, the fact that it’s made outside North America has limited its sales success. That won’t be the case for its successor, as Car and Driver is reporting that it and the other cars based on the Zeta II platform will be built in North America. When might we start seeing these cars? Production of the first examples is expected to start as early as 2015. For performance fans in Australia, the successor to the SS may be offered locally as a replacement for the current V-8-powered versions of the Holden Commodore, since the next generation of the beloved Aussie sedan will be moving to a front-wheel-drive platform. Stay tuned for an update.
  13. As is Arizona. I think Michigan is also, I lived there 3 years in the 90s but had Ohio plates.
  14. Saw a '14 CTS for the first time today, from a distance...a black one on the lot at my local Cadillac store..going to stop by this weekend and check it out. Was beside and behind a black '14 Corvette Stingray in a traffic jam last night, first I'd seen close in traffic...it looks so much better in person than in pics...esp. in black.
  15. I think it's to obscure the surface details of the body...the patterns confuse the viewer.
  16. BMW does the same thing, unfortunately. It's rather ridiculous...BMW and MB numbers used to have a rational, logical understandable meaning. 320i was a 3 series w/ a 2.0. 500SEL was a LWB S class w/ a 5.0. etc...
  17. You missed my point. I didn't say they had anything to do with racing. Silver means a lot to MB. And given their recent sales #s, they clearly are doing things right...
  18. Because silver is their signature color..has been since the Silver Arrows of the 30s. And German Silver was traditionally their national color back when racing cars were in national colors (British Racing Green, French Blue, Italian Red, etc). So there is a lot of heritage in using silver for MB.
  19. Will be interesting to see how it compares to the ATS...interior looks sharp in the two-tone.
  20. I know PA is a one plate state, and NJ is a two plate state, what about MD or DE?
  21. I'd love to see a Caprice LTZ V8 to compete w/ the Chrysler 300C, but alas, the market in general and GM has shifted to FWD vanilla... <rant> GM and Chrysler are the only American companies left that have a variety of cars that I can see myself actually considering in my next car shopping round..Challenger, Charger, 300, Grand Cherokee...and GM has the Camaro, SS and Cadillacs (the problem w/ Cadillac is I can't see spending $40-50k on a compact w/ a 4cyl) Ford is a dead end except for the Mustang. Alas, today the core of the market is disposable FWD cars and CUVs that I have no interest in...dull appliances for the non-enthusiast masses. I feel old. </rant>
  22. I wonder when Lexus will get in the action with something based on the Rav4..
  23. Australians have given up...the Commodore is only 4th in sales last year, they mostly buy FWD appliances like Americans do, and some Japanese trucks. 1. Mazda3 - 44,128 2. Toyota HiLux - 40,646 3. Toyota Corolla - 38,799 4. Holden Commodore - 30,532 5. Holden Cruze - 29,161 6. Hyundai i30 - 28,348 7. Toyota Camry - 27,230 8. Nissan Navara - 26,045 9. Toyota Yaris - 18,808 10. Ford Focus - 18,586 I have a friend who went to work for a tech company in Australia and just came home for the holidays. He says he pays double what we pay for gas and everything else is almost double if not triple. He was shocked to see some items like wine from there cheaper here than down under. The public is in a pull back to the cheapest and most fuel efficient auto's they can get. Only the true upper 1/3 of the population are buying performance Holdens that tend to guzzle gas. From the sounds of things that Terry told me, it sounds like they are going through crazy prices and interest rates like we did in the 80's. Sad, but a fact of life, their next so called full size sedan will probably be a re-badged Buick. Opel Buick, Opel..same difference..
  24. It's the color and the wheels, I guess. In profile it looks unchanged to me except for the wheels, headlights and front fascia. I never thought there was anything really wrong w/ the styling of this generation of Malibu..it's the cramped interior that is the letdown.
