  1. Aren't many Audis aluminum bodied? The previous generation of BMW 5 series had a lot of aluminum but they abandoned that and went back to mostly steel w/ the current generation, IIRC...
  2. Some favorites...
  3. Cound be nice...they could in theory develop a V8 from the DOHC V6, right? As a Caddy exclusive.
  4. I love many cars of the '70s...the decade started out at the peak of the muscle car era--the year I was born. And though power dropped through out the decade, I love so many of the styles of cars of that decade...the green and brown land yachts--massive 2dr coupes, convertibles, 4dr hardtops, huge wagons w/ woodgrain...'personal luxury' coupes of all shapes and sizes...and the downsized full sizers toward the end of the decade that are huge by today's standards....and best of all, most cars of the 70s were still RWD, what with FWD relegated to import subcompacts and a couple-three big GM coupes.
  5. They still haven't gotten rid of the '97 vintage doors or greenhouse, looks like. Amazing... I like the dash treatment, similar to the current model w/ the two pods. Got the whole '70s Oldsmobile tribute going on w/ the grille, more so than other Lincolns.. Someone at Lincoln really likes the '71-72 Cutlass grille treatment..
  6. The upcoming Chinese market ATS LWB may have the foot rests and trays..
  7. Yeah..I've never dabbled in photoshop. But I'm trying to visualize an ATS Formal sedan w/ a squared off roofline and rear doors, vertical rear window, whitewall tires and wire wheels..maybe w/ carriage roof w/ small rear window. In the opposite direction, I'd like to see an ATS 4dr coupe-- frameless door glass, sleek CTS coupe style fastback roofline..
  8. Base engine? Both the S-class and 7 series have 6 cyl base models. I can't see GM investing in a proper DOHC V8 for this, so it will probably get a corporate pushrod V8.
  9. As far as ATS variants go, there is also the long wheelbase version, presumably for China where BMW has a 3-series LWB, M-B a C-class LWB, etc.. [picture removed]
  10. I had one of these as a rental in Long Beach last year. Was white... http://www.cheersandgears.com/topic/81519-2013-toyota-camry-mini-rental-review/
  11. One problem w/ the naming is by having the C-segment car named 'ATS' where do they go with names if they decide to do a B-segment entry eventually to compete w/ the BMW 1/2 series, Audi A3, M-B A/CLA ?
  12. Those definitely seem reasonable...got to have a convertible in this segment, and Europe likes wagons. See A4/A5, 3/4 series, C class...all have at least 4 bodystyles.
  13. The fold down center armrest in a coupe seems like an anachronism back to the olden days of large '70s 'personal luxury' coupes. The 4 series, ATS, etc are all pretty tiny in the back...pretty much a place for children or child seats. Though the best use of a coupe back seat is folded down to increase cargo space.
  14. My cars stayed registered in my Dad's name and on his insurance through college and grad school to avoid the high cost.
  15. My Mom in rural Ohio has natural gas...sometimes the gas goes out in winter, but she has heating oil as a backup (two furnaces). Had our own on-property natural gas well for about 40 years.
  16. Yeah... in my commute, the morning drive getting to work is usually smooth and fast...coming home, another story...choice of bumper-to-bumper freeway stop and go slog or surface streets with many traffic lights...
  17. They should just suffix the LWB model with L (like they used to) and the longer LWB as XL.
  18. Don't know how you keep trading cars w/o losing money or getting a bad deal. I'm at the opposite extreme--get a car, keep it 10 years, 15 years, 25 years...
  19. It was pretty rare that I carried passengers in the back seat in the 20 years I drove coupes....once in a while I'd go out to lunch at work and drive my Mustang GT or M3 and have people pile in, or in college when I had my Mustang LX....but usually someone had a 4dr car or SUV that we would take. And if I was going to out to dinner w/ a group riding w/ me I'd take my Jeep. And before the Jeep, I had 2dr SUVs which were a pain to get in and out of the backseat..
  20. Urban Dictionary has been a standard resource for slang online for years...I even have contributed an entry or two.
  21. Probably some kind of stupid internet meme that only the Gen Y kiddos can understand, I guess. Interesting...clicking on the icon goes to the urban dictionary definition. Ok. It sort of makes sense, but not really. I like verbs.
  22. The name 'Maybach' seems to have resonance with some segments of the target market, though--hip hop moguls and high-end drug dealers.
  23. Translate to English? ... Anddddd point proven. No offense, Moltar. What you posted isn't even readable..there is no verb.. "People who can't into basic sociology." doesn't parse..
