    So why don't all those traditionally-car-only companies stick with cars only?? Because they go where the money is...CUVs and SUVs are profit centers...not that there is anything new or surprising about these brands having CUVs or SUVs--they've had them for 10-15 years or more now. Nothing new.

    Was a Mitsubishi rebadge..Was also called the D50, and Plymouth had a version called the Arrow. Saw something interesting today, but can't recall what it was...getting old I guess. (turned 44 today). Or maybe it was the sangrias at brunch..

    I've seen a few of the new Tahoes and Suburbans in the last week...don't know how I think of them relative to the previous model--don't care for the new grille and the weird light scalloping on the sides, previous front end was nicer IMHO...and the side windows seem too small and square..previous models had better window shapes, IMO...the new ones just seem so blocky..

    I love sleep. I crave sleep. I need 7-8 hours a night to be functional...if I get less, no amount of caffeine will make me productive. I love weekend naps, and on vacations or days off I take naps..sometimes a morning nap, sometimes an afternoon one. But I'm a light sleeper, and pretty much any noise will wake me (usually it's the dogs barking at the neighbors' cats). I try to go bed around the same time (10pm) and get up the same time (5:30-6) everyday, even on weekends. I've long battled insomnia and have taken prescription sleeping pills for nearly 20 years--currently 500mg of a psp. Over the counter PM stuff won't cut it. I find that nights that I swim I sleep better, I often take a swim around 9 in the evening. I'm sensitive to an overly warm room also..I keep the ceiling fans on and the A/C down at night, I like it a bit cool and I like at as dark as possible--keep the window slats closed tightly. I have to cover any lights on power strips, etc in the room also. My ideal bedroom would be painted flat black w/ no windows.. Yeah, I know that feeling..I love driving in the mornings in the old Merc hardtop w/ all the windows down and huge sunroof open...

    They already have a 5dr in the Countryman...and the next Clubman is supposed to be a 5/6 door bodystyle also. I assume they call the regular 3dr a 'hardtop' to distinguish from the 2 seat coupe model. (since Americans fear the term 'hatchback'). I wonder if they call them a 'hardtop' in other English-speaking markets...

    The frameless door glass, I guess. Speaking of hardtops, I've been enjoying driving a real hardtop lately, esp. in the mornings when it is still cool...open the sunroof, drop the windows, quite nice...

    Overnight closures are the standard approach here on freeways...maybe partially because overnight is when the temps are 'cool' (100 or less) in summer..

    From what I've read, the new generation will have fewer variations--no roadster or coupe, I believe.

    Kind of surprised they didn't do this years ago, when the first New Mini was launched..or decades ago w/ the original..

    Interesting... it's too bad their sales aren't stronger, I find their cars far more appealing than the typical Asian appliances.

    Well, it does have tiny 16 inch wheels, compared to 20 or more of '14 era SUVs. Michelins on the DTS were around $800 last year IIRC.

    It's still going.. needs for the next few months are tires, shocks, brakes. Thats still a healthy two grand done right, maybe three. Not sure where you shop, but Tires, shocks and brakes you should be able to get quality tire and parts installed for about 1500-2000. 4 Wheel Parts is great pricing for quality parts installed. Last set of tires was around $750 4 years ago (Discount Tire, BFG Long Trails)...I'll have to check my past receipts for brakes and shocks, but I figure I should be able to get it all done at my local independent repair shop that I've gone to since '08 for under $2k.

    It's still going.. needs for the next few months are tires, shocks, brakes. Thats still a healthy two grand done right, maybe three. Yeah, the way I look at it, it's still cheaper than $500 a month in payments on a new car. Only had $250 in maintenance so far this year (oil & filter change, electrical repairs to driver's door).

    Well, if they got it in the fall of '12, maybe they've had a long commute for close to 2 years...I used to work w/ a guy in Colorado that put 75k on cars in two years with a 90 miles each way commute. Over on the TDI club forums, some guy with like an 11 TDI Jetta Wagoin had 400k PLUS ON IT ALREADY. His job was following semi trucks with oversized loads with an oversized load placcard attached to the Jetta. That's a LOT of driving...my 14 yr old Jeep w/ 152k doesn't seem so bad...
