  1. Had a couple good experiences at chain restaurants that were new to me this past weekend in Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver suburb). Went for brunch w/ friends on Saturday, tried Grand Lux Cafe(apparently a Cheesecake Factory owned chain)--nice decor, had a tasty fried chicken (boneless) and waffles dish (different than Roscoes, but still tasty) and salad. Their portions are huge. On Sunday, tried Which Wich? a sandwich shop, interesting place...sort of a build your own menu where you fill out the items you want (meats, bread, toppings, etc) on a sandwich bag.
  2. Maybe they can do different door/quarter panel stampings with a Buick sweep spear like the LaCrosse.
  3. I'd say those are pretty equivalent. Invalid comparison, but the Taurus is certainly better and more modern than it's GM equivalent, the W-body Impala.
  4. I'm just being realistic. It is what it is. I know there are things I'd like to have a product that aren't being offered, but I know as an individual I can't infuence a company's product mix, so I accept the reality as it is. For these troubled times, the way I look at things is to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised when something pleasant happens.
  5. Well, you set up unrealistic expectations given the current reality. Either adapt or move on.
  6. So end of topic. Move on.
  7. What you are looking for just doesn't exist in 2009. You either have to go smaller, or larger or accept 4drs. Or change your parameters to fit the reality.
  8. Beautiful machine, love the taillight detail and the profile. Beautiful location in the first two pics also.
  9. Chrysler has had an interesting history w/ Italian companies, incl. the Ghia show cars in the '50s, the Imperial limos, the TC by Maserati, etc. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
  10. This will be interesting to watch, to see what comes of it. So with the Fiat deal and the bankruptcy, will the Cerebus con artists still have any stake in Chrysler? I haven't read all the details yet.
  11. Chris Bangle Ravenna, Ohio. Raised in Wisconsin, went to Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.
  12. I got to drive Excitement!!! this weekend in Colorado..had a Pontiac Vibe rental from Alamo. Meh. wierd inside, wierd outside, hard to see when backing up (very poor rear quarter visibility). Didn't see too much memorable when I was out and about, besides a rusty orange '69 Dodge Charger that I remember seeing about 10 years ago in Colorado Springs, still around there now; and a dark blue '05-09 Mustang GT with Italian number plates on the front and rear. Also saw a white '10 Fusion Hybrid, first '10 Fusion I've seen..sharp looking car. Also saw a black LaForza, haven't seen one of those in ages.
  13. How about a set of black Intrepid police package rims? Those might look cool..
  14. Chevy..I would assume Avis will replace their GPs with Genericas..I mean Impalas.
  15. "You can't always get what you want, sometimes you get what you need"
  16. Sorry to hear that.. these are 'dynamic' times, to say the least. I was laid off from a startup last July, then started a 6 month contract in September. It ended a month early in March because the client had a $250 million budget shortfall for the year, but another client popped up with a 1 yr contract, so my downtime was a week. That gig is going well so far. I've had a few feelers from other headhunters since then, including one representing a certain big online retailer in the Seattle area that's contacted me several times in the last year about a perm. position. Something to think about, but moving back to Denver is still my first choice for my next move.
  17. ???? Huh? The G8 is car. GMC is truck.
  18. Totally unrelated, but I had a random thought inspired by this thread than Camino will love--what if the NUMMI plant were a JV with Honda instead of Toyota---Chevy could have an El Camino based on the Ridgeline! (time for me to go on my mini-vacation for the weekend)
  19. It's a sad state of affairs all around. I'd love to see Chrysler survive, esp. Jeep and the RWD cars.
  20. The GTO would have been a nice basis for a 'Chevelle' coupe. (i.e. Lumina SS as it was sold in the Middle East).
  21. 3100 seems pretty light..I thought the Corvette was more like 3500lbs.
  22. Those all look like interesting choices. What was the wheel like on the Intrepid R/T? Haven't seen one of those in a while.
  23. That sounds like marketing speak. Nothing substantive. Pontiac's glory days have been gone for a long time, sadly, with just a few sparks of the old image here and there like the GTO, G8, and Solstice.
  24. Judging the nature of Chevrolet based on any 20 year period (especially the last 20) is like judging the US by the 1980s. The path cannot stay the same now that so many other brands are gone.] Not necessarily...that's not a random 20 years, that's the last 20 years. And Ford's line is all FWD except for the Mustang, and Toyota is all FWD, so I wouldn't expect Chevy to change from that path. Like it or not, sales certainly indicate the mainstream prefers dull FWD 4drs. That's reality. I know many people on here can't face reality, but daydreaming will only go so far. I'd love to see the G8 transform into an Impala, and Chevy also have a small Alpha based RWD model with 3 bodystyles, but realistically, I can't see any of that happening.
