  1. Yeah, I think Nissan should market the Cube to office workers--'You work in a cube, now you can drive one!'. Yeah...the old money pits... I think the oil pan gasket is shot. Leaking coolant also now. This one only has 115k, the 500SEL has 178k and no problems currently.
  2. I recently reserved a car (Lincoln Town Car or DTS) through Hertz for Memorial Day weekend, and the rates by booking through the USAirways site vs. directly via the Hertz website were about $130 less for ~3 1/2 days..and I wasn't using a coupon.
  3. Very cool.. I love those late '70s-80s B-bodies also..great potential to build 'sleeper' cars.
  4. Nah, I work in a cube...Cube Life 4Ever Still have the Jeep..doggies are fine. I buy kitty litter for my sister's '91 Merc 300CE--if I start the car and let it run 15 min or so, it whizzes out a quart of oil on the garage floor.
  5. I buy kitty litter from the grocery, yet don't have a cat.
  6. How about this one: http://www.themel-costore.com/servlet/Deta...DRYERS&no=2
  7. The Grand Villes were awfully nice also...of the '75-76 GMs, I esp. like the Buick Electras...really like the front end w/ the rectangular lights, and the cool taillight design...like the '76 Caprice also. I generally prefer the '71-72s of the B and Cs, because the bumpers were smaller and better integrated, and the sides were more sculpted on some (Buick and Cadillac in particular lost some of their sculpting by '74-75).
  8. Utah does have some great scenery, though..the national parks, the Salt Flats..and Moab and Park City are fun towns.. Nevada, on the other hand, is just a lot of ugly wasteland, IMHO.. (I've driven I-80 from Reno to SLC---empty and ugly). Thread answer: nausea
  9. Manufacturing has been dying in the US for 30+ years.... of course, they still build cars in the UK, but most are plants owned by multinational companies.
  10. Good point--these are GM-Shanghai products, not Geely or other 3rd rate products..nothing wrong that I see, as long as the quality and reliability are up to snuff. I've had plenty of consumer electronics made in China w/ no problems (like my 3+ yr old iPod).
  11. That is a sweet land yacht... though my favorite years of the C-bodies like that are '71-72 when the bumpers were smaller. My favorites of the '70s GM land yachts are the '71-73 Impala sport coupe, '71-73 Buick Riviera, any '71-72 B- or C- coupe, 4dr ht, or convertible.
  12. Instead of something nice like the Park Avenue or Regal, it will probably just be cheap generics...Chevy Spark or other.
  13. Utah (the inverse of Nevada) Speaking of Nevada and um their 'special' businesses, a buddy of mine from Silicon Valley told me about a tiny startup that back in the '99 dot.com boom, when they had their IPO, their CEO took the whole staff to a Reno-area 'bunny ranch' to celebrate..
  14. A manual has to be pretty rare in a '92.. that was the first year of the '88 style pickup platform for the Blazer, wasn't it? Those were neat wagons.
  15. Interesting...on the Chevy website, they only mention the 2.4, 3.6, and Hybrid powertrains...I didn't even realize the 3.5 was available in this generation of Malbu, thought only the old one used it, and the Impala, etc.
  16. More likely to meet the CAFE ratings, fewer V8 models will be built. And if gas goes back to $4 a gallon or more and stays there, demand will drop.
  17. Yeah, I haven't been in Detroit proper since March '97, and the last time I was in the state (Ann Arbor) was Sept. 99. I need to go back to A2 and see some old friends and see how my old grad school haunts look today.
  18. Maybe the city itself will eventually be fenced off, become something like from 'Escape from New York'. J/K, but I'm amazed that the city population is still over 900k.
  19. The people I know in Colorado that call themselves Independents seem to also consider themselves Libertarians, which isn't quite the same as what I usually think of as conservatives.. don't know about AZ..
  20. That drivetrain (and the seats) would be nice to upgrade an '86 El Camino SS (those were neat looking cars, had a Monte Carlo SS style nose).
  21. Hmmm...hack off the bodywork behind the doors and weld/duct tape on the rear frame, bed and rear cab from a Silverado or Avalanche...
  22. compost
  23. I have no idea.. I've wondered if why the cost of CF hasn't come down is maybe it is very expensive to manufacture, even in volume? Or why don't we see more titanium or magnesium, like in mountain bikes? Too expensive to manufacture--even in volume-- relative to steel or aluminum?
  24. freedom fries
  25. Nothing wrong with that... the DTS does look awfully good in White Diamond. I'm more of a sports sedan fan, but I like the old school luxo boats, like the Town Car and the late Fleetwood Brougham..
