  1. Since I haven't sat in either, I can't really say they are competitive or not.
  2. The CTS, G8 GT/GXP, and Camaro SS are the only GMs I'd seriously consider buying in the near future..they are all so appealing. The Solstice and Sky are neat, but too impractical for me.
  3. It is a frustrating time, but I don't think I could ever vote Republican..I'd have to have a lobotomy first. I'm think had the other side won, things for the auto industry would be worse now...
  4. Alas, in these troubled times, GM is probably only looking a week or two ahead. As far as diesels, I'd love to be able to get a 2011 Grand Cherokee TDI or a 2011 Challenger TDI, w/ 6speed manual...drool. Or a CTS or Camaro w/ diesels.
  5. Alas, as long as gas prices stay cheap, I don't see the domestics seriously considering diesels for the NA market... I'd much rather have a diesel w/ a manual than a hybrid. And in bigger vehicles--esp. trucks and SUVs, diesels would be a natural..a great way to bring up the CAFE.
  6. I've seen pics of the production exterior, no interior pics..I would assume it may be similar to the Cruze (a sea of gray plastic)? Edit: went to the Volt forum, found the prod interior pics..forgot I'd seen those before; looks decent...interesting center stack detailing.
  7. I doubt if the mileage will be that good...I would think the Equinox will be as heavy or heavier than the Vue (which is over 4000lbs)--it's larger than the Vue, I think.
  8. It's an interesting car in principle, I'm just wondering what will the execution be like--will it have the usual nasty cheap, hard gray plastic Chevy small car interior?
  9. I think my friend Steve has only replaced the tires once or twice over the 10 years he's had his NSX...but he drives it about 2500-3000 miles a year, since it's not a daily driver. I've driven the car several times and ridden in it many times, it's a lot of fun. Great handling, great steering feel w/ the manual steering, great engine noise behind your head. So what if it's not a drag racer? There is more to performance than acceleration...it's not a muscle car, but a high-revving sports car. Different paradigm. I'd definitely consider a '90s NSX over a Corvette of the same era for the rarity and the mid engined nature, the design, etc.
  10. That seems awfully light for the Cutlass...I thought those things were more like 3500-3800 lbs..
  11. I know two Element owners, both are couples around 60... one couple are artists, they like it for loading supplies and their chihuahuas.
  12. Hmm... Russell Crowe John Connor (Christian Bale) Jason Statham Cameron Phillips (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles) James Bond (Daniel Craig)
  13. Flowers, card, phone call. Going to go see her and my brother in a couple weeks, Memorial Day weekend. Flying into the Burgh then driving out to the farm.
  14. There were many stripes... in '67, SSes had the bumblebee stripe, '68 SSes had the bumblebee and also one that goes over the nose like the bumblebee but down the sides, ending on the doors (my brother's LeMans blue '68 SS 396 had that). The '69 SS had a hockey-stick style stripe that started by the marker light and came up and went down the side, just below the beltline. I think the Z28 style stripes may have been an option on SSes, I've seen many in pics and in person done that way. ( I'm by no means a Camaro expert, I just sorta kinda know this stuff from researching stripe options, etc for model car builds).
  15. I can still remember as a kid in the late '70s in Steubenville, Oh, the neighbors across the street had a black '68 Impala fastback, a Frost Green '69 Impala Custom coupe, black vinyl top, bumper guards, Rally Wheels. I remember when they traded their maroon '74 Caprice 4dr ht on a new downsized '77 Caprice, in dark red w/ a white vinyl top. Neighbors next to them had a black '67 Olds Delmont 88 and a gold '71 Olds 98 4dr ht (that my brother backed his '74 Vega V8 into once...). Neighbors on the left had a lt blue '72 Skylark 4dr sedan and a white '74 Apollo 2dr, neighbors on a right a black '68 Eldorado and a series of black '71-79 Fleetwoods (he was supposedly the local Don), and we had a variety of cars the 10 years we were there--my Dad's '67-68 Cougars, the '69 Mustang, his '71 Marquis and later Town Cars, my sister's '76 Pinto, and my older brothers' endlessly changing variety of cars (the V8 Vega, a '74 Firebird Formula 400, various '60s Mustangs, a '59 Thunderbird, a '65 GTO, etc). ..on the weekends, we often went to our farm in the country (where my Mom still lives), where my folks kept 5-6 cars and the John Deere tractor, and later, the motorhomes. Happy memories of a simpler time and space..
  16. I remember that color, was Fathom Green, I think...kind of a medium dark green. They also had a very nice silver green--Frost Green, was used on alot of GMs from around '68-71.
  17. It's a really interesting color, hard to describe, other than 'electric lime' or 'electric olive'.there seemed to be a lighter and a dark version. I saw one at sunrise a few years ago, and it was really striking w/ the sunlight on it...the Aztek had a similar color at one time, IIRC. The Camaro would look great in it. There were some really nice greens on the '69 Camaro, would like to see some today.
  18. They matched up pretty favorably, not as big of a gap as one would think based only on price difference.
  19. Speaking of Genesis comparos, Road & Track did a comparison test w/ it and the G37. Was interesting, considering the substantial (~16k) price difference.
  20. Good news.
  21. My favorite color on the Avi is a really bright metallic lime-oilve green from a few years ago..only seen a couple in that color, would look great on the '10 Camaro.
  22. Never driven a CRV....the Hondas I've had experience driving were fun to drive, IMHO--my sister used to have a '91 Legend coupe, my girlfriend in college had an '88 Accord hatchback, my friend Steve's '91 NSX, another friend's '97 Prelude--....haven't driven any recent ones, though.
  23. First summer weekend here..i.e. first weekend of 100s...will be this way and warmer through September probably...enjoyed the pool some today, and went and saw 'Star Trek' this afternoon w/ some cubies. Excellent movie, btw.
  24. I think I may have seen one on the road. I did see 4 on top of a car hauler recently.
  25. I like the '67-68 Firebird a lot... never cared for the '69 styling, but I like the '70-73 Camaro and Firebird pretty equally well. Sometimes I wonder, had I been born in '40 instead of '70, what would have I have bought in 1970? There were so many incredible cars then...
