  1. Yeah, Lazenby was pretty dreadful, so wooden...he was an Australian model, not an actor. It was a movie with a great villain (Blofeld again), great scenery, women, cars..would have been much better with Connery. James Brolin was considered for the role before Lazenby, apparently, according to the DVD extras..
  2. And you need at least 4000 watts of amplification, and the amps need to go to 11.
  3. Huh? This must be a different Capriceman... I thought the Capriceman that posted here was a rich guy that did government black ops on the side..
  4. One daft thing they did in the late '80s was the overuse of the Cutlass name...Cutlass Calais, Cutlass Ciera, Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Supreme Brougham..
  5. At least Jag is consistent...poor reliability has been a brand value for decades.

QUOTE (Enzora @ Mar 8 2009, 08:44 PM) Regional bias can be a dangerous thing when musical preference is concerned. I've noticed it a lot with Canadians. Often they seem like smart, charming people with generally good taste. Then I find out they really like Nickelback, and I can never look at them the same way again. Edited to avoid confusion: In no way am I implying that Josh is a smart, charming person who has good taste in anything. Just saying that he seems to be exhibiting regional bias in his musical preference. Funny thing is, I worked with a lot of Canadians from '02-07, very few liked Nickelback--I knew more that liked Rush (which I like a lot) than Nickelback. No one would admit to liking Celine Dion (though a couple guys' wives liked her). FUnny thing is, the biggest Nickelback fan I know is an Ohio State football fanatic that grew up in Montana. (as an aside, every year on the day of Michigan-Ohio State football game, he calls me up to jeer, since OSU usually beats my Michigan (I'm an Ohio native but a Michigan alum..go figure).

QUOTE (YellowJacket894 @ Mar 7 2009, 08:19 PM) I thought something smelled a little funny when I clicked on the link to see the first page of this thread. Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker? I actually forgot how horrible Josh's taste in music was; is he positive he lives in Michigan and not Mississippi? Funny you say that, but IIRC Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker got their start in Michigan (connected to Eminem, IIRC).
  9. Those 90s Sevilles--both the '92-97 and the '98+ generation (and the Eldorado)--- are the cars that got me interested in modern Cadillacs..always liked the interiors but esp. the sharp, crisp angular lines..before I drove the '96 M3 that I ended up buying in '98, a '95-97 or so STS was at the top of my car shopping list, test drove a few clean used ones..but then fell in love with the M3, not for the styling or creature comforts, but how it drove....completely different types of cars, but both very appealing to me. I've always had a duality of interests--luxury cars, performance cars appeal equally to me, from cushy old school luxury, modern crisp luxury, raw muscle cars to modern precision performance cars. Sooner or later, I'll probably have a CTS or a G8, either would be ideal daily drivers for me, with the CTS ranking a bit higher for the creature comforts.
  10. That reminds me of my buddy Dennis in Colorado Springs, except Pontiacs are his drug... he has 5 '68-71 GTOs, incl. 3 Judges (a '69 ht, '70 ht, '70 conv), a '94 Olds Cutlass convertible, an '87 Grand Prix 2+2, an '02 Trans Am, an '06 GTO and an '02 Yukon..recently caught up with him, he just ordered a G8 GXP. When he built his house in the mid '90s, he built a 10 car garage plus an extra 2 car garage.
  11. Yeah, that part of Ohio has been on the decline for decades...I lived in the Akron area from '88-94, it was decaying/declining then, only worse now, I'm sure.
  12. Yeah, it's in my top 10 also.. I've long been a fan of Michael Mann films, like 'Manhunter' and 'Collateral' also, loved 'Miami Vice' back in the day (even liked the 'Miami Vice' movie from a few years ago). I think my interest in full size V8 Ford unmarked cop cars goes back to childhood in the '70s-80s, watching all those '70s cop dramas like Police Story, the Dirty Harry movies, the Blues Brothers (well, that was a Dodge), and esp. the brown '71 Galaxie Burt Reynolds drove in 'White Lightning'...something about full size V8 sedans w/ a police package and the black steel wheels is very appealing to me.
  13. Interesting you mention 'Heat'..after DeNiro drove one in 'Heat', and Nic Cage (or was it Travolta?) drove one in 'Face Off', I think I had a man crush on '90s Cadillac STSes. (and by the way, 'Heat' is one of my all-time favorite movies--great cast, great director, great music, great cinematography). And after several movies, incl. Christian Bale in 'Harsh Times', I've developed a man crush on unmarked Crown Vic PIs...such an iconic car, IMHO. Though I don't recall ever seeing a car similar my 1:1 '87 Mustang GT hatchback in movies, though I do recall a few convertibles and LX 5.0s in movies over the years..
  14. I keep Jack in a bottle on a shelf w/ his buddies, Jim Beam and Jose Cuervo...
  15. I generally avoid fast food anymore, but I still enjoy McDonald's breakfast items occasionally... or Jack in the Box and Taco Bell--I like Jack for the vast menu and that they are 5 min from the house. Sometimes I'm lazy about cooking or going out to dinner, so I stop by Jack on the way home..
  16. I used to think that was why my Mustang would die after approx 1 hr or 50 miles of driving. Turned out to be a clogged fuel filter.
  17. I always liked the styling of the '73, the heavy body sculpting and the great rear end.
  18. You do realize that was an old Saturday Night Live quote, don't you?
  19. Speaking of Saturns, I recently caught up via LinkedIn with a buddy from grad school that I remember as a big Saturn fan in the mid '90s. Back then, he and his wife had 2--a first gen S-series and a 2nd gen S-series sedan. I was curious if he was still a Saturn fan--was pleasantly surprised to see he still is--wife has an Outlook now, he has an Aura and is thinking about getting a Sky next year for his 40th birthday. Cool to see someone loyal to a GM brand.
  20. Been listening to U2's new album, No Line on the Horizon alot since last Monday...loving it.
  21. Today: Saw the green '73 Monte Carlo again at the grocery. Drove past a house w/ a circular drive, guy was out doing Sunday morning car waxing--had a maroon '75 Laguna coupe, brown '73 Chevelle SS, and a red '09 CTS w/ temporary tag and the window sticker still attached. At the grocery, saw a pristine '85 or so (after the 1st grille/taillight redesign) Pontiac 6000LE--pale yellow, whitewall tires. Looked like new.
  22. Found the Chevelle wagon, 442 and Vega yesterday...still looking for the orange '70 GTO convertible and orange '69 Camaro ht.
  23. Yes, the preponderance of dull fogiemobiles led Olds by the mid-90s to truly be OLDsmobile... the Aurora and Intrigue brought some freshness to a stale brand, but it was too late--the brand's image was by then that of dull cars for old folks..kind of the brand for the 'squares'.
  24. The only car that ever truly stranded me was my '87 Mustang GT.. had to have it hauled home on a flatbed 3 times in '98 (water pump, radiator, fuel pump). With only 55k miles. Made me swear off Fords for a while. (though I kept the car and it now has about 64k miles). The M3 never stranded me, just nickeled-and-dimed (well, $500/1000) me as it got older. My Jeep has never really stranded me, though the battery did die in my driveway 4 years ago...which means I should get a new battery soon (with an AZ summer coming, you don't want an old battery).
