  1. Speaking of Saturns, I recently caught up via LinkedIn with a buddy from grad school that I remember as a big Saturn fan in the mid '90s. Back then, he and his wife had 2--a first gen S-series and a 2nd gen S-series sedan. I was curious if he was still a Saturn fan--was pleasantly surprised to see he still is--wife has an Outlook now, he has an Aura and is thinking about getting a Sky next year for his 40th birthday. Cool to see someone loyal to a GM brand.
  2. Been listening to U2's new album, No Line on the Horizon alot since last Monday...loving it.
  3. Today: Saw the green '73 Monte Carlo again at the grocery. Drove past a house w/ a circular drive, guy was out doing Sunday morning car waxing--had a maroon '75 Laguna coupe, brown '73 Chevelle SS, and a red '09 CTS w/ temporary tag and the window sticker still attached. At the grocery, saw a pristine '85 or so (after the 1st grille/taillight redesign) Pontiac 6000LE--pale yellow, whitewall tires. Looked like new.
  4. Found the Chevelle wagon, 442 and Vega yesterday...still looking for the orange '70 GTO convertible and orange '69 Camaro ht.
  5. Yes, the preponderance of dull fogiemobiles led Olds by the mid-90s to truly be OLDsmobile... the Aurora and Intrigue brought some freshness to a stale brand, but it was too late--the brand's image was by then that of dull cars for old folks..kind of the brand for the 'squares'.
  6. The only car that ever truly stranded me was my '87 Mustang GT.. had to have it hauled home on a flatbed 3 times in '98 (water pump, radiator, fuel pump). With only 55k miles. Made me swear off Fords for a while. (though I kept the car and it now has about 64k miles). The M3 never stranded me, just nickeled-and-dimed (well, $500/1000) me as it got older. My Jeep has never really stranded me, though the battery did die in my driveway 4 years ago...which means I should get a new battery soon (with an AZ summer coming, you don't want an old battery).
  7. Here's another pre-war SUV, the '40 Ford Expedition Country Squire (J/K). It's a Ford woody wagon w/ Marmon-Herrington 4WD.

    I saw...

I was in Cornville a few months ago, but didn't see either of it's famous part-time residents (Sen. John McCain or Tool's Maynard James Keenan).
  9. Well, they are competitors, as they are the full size FWD sedan models from their respective brands. But the current (and the '10) Taurus completely outclasses the antiquated Impala, with it's all-old engine and transmission.
  10. I thought of BV's cars on Thursday--was out driving and saw 4 Millenias, incl. a really sharp dark green one w/ some aftermarket rims--aluminum wheel lip w/ black spokes, tinted windows, sharp looking car.
  11. I like that Galaxie...always liked the '69-70 Sportsroof tunneled rear window...that car looks restorable...ditch those late '70s mags for a set of Magnum 500s, redo the interior, etc..
  12. Apparently, a '67-68 Cougar...there is also the floorpans and rear tail panel...the rear part of the roof, rear quarters, etc dissapeared. Strange.
  13. Hmmm.... new--Ford (Mustang GT), a Dodge Challenger, a Jeep (another Grand Cherokee), or used Lincolns, Mercedes or BMWs, probably. The GMs I'm most interested in are the CTS, Camaro and G8.
  14. Yes, the Yaris is in the same class as the Aveo and other cheap sh*tboxes. The Cobalt's competitors from Toyota are the Corolla and tC.

    I saw...

In San Francisco at JavaOne in '99, I saw Scott McNealy (Sun CEO) and Steve Jobs having lunch in a restaurant, later literally ran into McNealy coming out of a bathroom in Moscone Center. I've seen John Elway several times in restaurants in Denver, sat at a table next to him a couple of times.. Saw Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey at a BBQ restaurant a couple years ago, driving an Aston Martin DB7 convertible. Saw former Senator Gary Hart on an airplane once. Saw Stevie Nicks at a gas station in Scottsdale a few years ago. Saw actress Linda Gray ('Dallas') in the Southwest line at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport a couple years ago. Met actors Gregory Harrison, Stephanie Zimbalist, and John Bennett Perry (Matthew Perry's dad) when a TV miniseries was being filmed on my family's farm in Ohio 32 years ago..
  16. I like it..great RWD proportions, flowing lines. The C-pillar detailing and quarter window are a bit unconventional, but interesting...like the gauge detailing. Love the wheels... Don't like the wierd steering wheel shape.
  17. Quite the accomplishment for the Rickstr
  18. Yes.
  19. Was out and about this morning, several interesting sightings...a red '66 Ford stepside pickup, a white '64-65 Ford longbed pickup, towing a yard service trailer, a light blue early '60s Ford Econoline window van with 'Falcon' badging, and a clean white '68-69 Ford longbed pickup. For older GMs, saw a sharp pale yellow '75-76 Caddy Coupe de Ville w/ no vinyl top--and what was most unusual about was the driver--a very cute 25 or so year old redhead wearing tiny cool rectangular glasses. Just very unusual to see an attractive young woman not in the usual Civic, Camry, New Beetle, etc but in a classic land yacht.
  20. Buick only has 3 models now.. I would think they would need something else besides the '10 LaCrosse and Enclave..
  21. Wasn't there some talk a while back about the Chinese Regal coming here (i.e. the Insignia variation) as the smaller Buick sedan?

    Pie

    I'm a little over 16 stone..
  23. That would be interesting..no doubt a lot of work and $$$...I'd love to see an Intrepid SRT8, for example..
  24. Yeah, I've thought before that I was an 'extroverted introvert'... Careers that were listed as ideal for ENTP's were engineering and IT, which fit well for me...
