  1. Yeah...that's where FWD would come in for most people. If I can only have one vehicle in a snowy climate, I'd probably stick with a 4x4 SUV, or maybe an AWD sedan.
  2. I'd go for the V8 w/ a manual. If I bought a Camaro/Mustang/Challenger, it would be a fun 2nd/3rd car, not a daily driver.
  3. That's hilarious... I once urinated on my Jeep in a snow storm after going to a hockey game with Canadians and drinking too much..
  4. That's what I would have liked to have seen also, but given the current reality, I think the more realistic scenario are Chevy FWD rebadges for Avis, no Solstice and G8 replacements, and phase out before 2015...
  5. Yeah, color inside and out would be tough for me. I know with the Mustang what my perfect color combo is (tungsten gray exterior, black w/ red trim interior). With the Camaro, I think white w/ a black interior would be very striking, though i usually don't like white.
  6. Even in places with snow, I'd still own RWD cars. And a 4x4 SUV for winter use. (That's what I did in Michigan and Colorado).
  7. I think 68 isn't capable of understanding the appeal the Accord, Camry, etc has to the mass market. The mainstream that buy a new car want to maximize their value for money, reliability, and resale value..they go with models that are proven winners in that regard.
  8. It's too bad they never built something that looked like the Citation IV...it would have looked modern today even..definitely was the precursor of the EV-1's shape. I was inspired after I saw it at Epcot Center..
  9. What's funny to me is the Prius looks a lot like the monospace futuristic cars I sketched as a kid in the '80s. After seeing the Chevy Citation IV prototype at Ecpot Center at Disney World, I was inspired to draw a lot of monospaces... everything I drew in the '80s kind of looked like the Prius, the EV-1, GM dustbuster vans, and the Chrysler LHes (cab forward, very sleek). I guess I was ahead of my time..
  10. Hmmm..I thought it was a glowing brain at first, now it reminds me of one of the Hindu gods.
  11. I know about 10 people that own Priuses....one has had his 8 years (1st gen), the others anywhere from 6 months to 4 years (2nd gen)... all seem to be quite happy with them, when I've talked w/ them about 'em..
  12. Well, I had to call out Ocn's political post...can't let him get away with that.
  13. I wonder if they will do any two-tones. A beige and black, or gray with the brown like available on the Malibu would be nice...or black w/ red seats and door panel inserts (would be my favorite).
  14. On the other side, the majority of Dodge Rams I see have McCain or Bush-Cheney stickers. Sheep as well..
  15. Well, the hybrid is much cleaner and gets considerably better mileage.
  16. I miss Russert...this election season would be alot more entertaining with him around.
  17. The problem is, at this point, the Volt is just vaporware... the Prius is real, been around for quite a while, and has a 3rd gen coming soon.
  18. I'll admit my bias is towards RWD performance and luxury cars, but I recognize the Prius as a fascinating car because of it's technology and that it has been a game changer...I think the Volt has the potential to be also. The Prius is infinitely more interesting than pedestrian generics like the Yaris and Corolla. A car enthusiast to me is someone who has an interest in and is knowledgable about a broad range of cars, car manufacturers, the people behind them, and can appreciate them for their aesthetic, technical, and performance merits. A good friend of mine--whom I consider a car enthusiast--we can talk about most any kind of car, and his tastes are pretty eclectic---has a Prius for the daily driver, an Outback for the family wagon, and a new Challenger SRT8 as his toy...
  19. No idea about how it is today...I don't even remember hearing about creationism in high school in the '80s...I was in a strictly secular world growing up. I took all the fast-track AP classes (chemistry, physics, algebra, etc) and ended up w/ 25 hours of college credit when I graduate.
  20. Some offbeat sightings today. Saw a faded blue '72 Ford Galaxie 4dr sedan in traffic and a faded but solid blue '68 Chevy longbed pickup. The really outrageous sightings, though, were the black 1940 Buick Special Eight 4dr sedan (6-window) in the Target parking lot and the green w/ yellow spoke wheels Model A 5-window coupe (one of the handful existing that wasn't converted into a hot rod, but kept stock) driving along in traffic! Shocking to see cars that old away from a car show, out in the real world!
  21. That's cool..I watched a tv show on Discovery or something yesterday were a shop took a salvaged '03 Wrangler and put a Hemi in it, set up the suspension for serious offroading, put 44 inch tires on it, was still street drivable, but made a great rock crawler.
  22. Well, GM has been doing 90% FWD mediocrity for the last 25 years and where has it gotten them? Nowhere...
  23. What's hurting the Flex's sales potential is the high sticker price coupled with the economy right now...
  24. Climate makes a difference also....in Florida, Texas, Arizona, So Cal, etc FWD is pointless. I've seen women driving 300s, Chargers, and quite a few RWD Lexuses, Mercs and BMWs here in the Phoenix area...
  25. I've done most all of my xmas shopping online for several years now... Target.com, BestBuy.com, Amazon, etc.. I try and steer clear of malls and other retail places during Nov-Dec and avoid the crowds, lines, etc.
