  1. The article said all new with DI, so who knows....I would have thought maybe a smaller version of the 3.6.
  2. Hmmm..none of those cities seem very appealing to me...not places I'd seriously consider living.
  3. Yeah...Alfa is supposedly coming, but they keep getting pushed back. I'd love to see the Brera here...it's really a beautiful car in person (saw them and the Alfa GT in Italy a few years ago).
  4. Johnson (Rod Johnson, creator of the Spring Framework, co-founder of Spring Source)
  5. Yeah, would like to see that here. A small car with a diesel that would be cool to see here would be the new Fiat 500, I think. Some diesel coupes would be great also..Europe gets the Merc CLK, Audi A5, BMW 3-series (coupe and convertible) all with diesel options.
  6. They could even call it the Avis Special...since the W-Impala will be around for who knows how long, it wouldn't cost much more to keep the W-LAX around also..
  7. Maybe they will keep the current LaCrosse around for a few years and call it the Buick Special, a base model priced below the new LaCrosse.

  9. Well, from my experience, with some in my own family in Ohio, that statement was dead on accurate..there are a lot of people out there in rural America and the small towns where the economy is weak, no job prospects besides Wal-Mart, and some of them do cling to their guns and religion out of desperation, bitter and angry at the modern, post-industrial world they can't understand and can't participate in, left behind by a fast moving and evolving world. It's a sad situation.
  10. Saw a dark gray one in traffic this morning with the top down..the rear 3/4 view is great..
  11. +1. Very well stated, sir. This summarizes quite well the qualities of Obama that I like. McCain on his own--esp. McCain of 2000--- seems more capable of the job than Bush ever did, IMHO. But adding Palin to the equation skews the ticket to the far right.... which is 100% against me and my views...I view the evangelical social conservative right as hypocritical, intolerant, anti-science, anti-progress. This is coming from living around and working with some of them over the last 10 years...the Colorado Springs 'Focus on the Family' crowd is scary as hell. I want nothing to do with supporting those people and fear for the nation if they are in power. Rob
  12. True....I suppose I thought people were smarter now than then.. I'm too optimistic, I suppose.
  13. This sounds like the kind of nonsense made up by Karl Rove or Rush Limbaugh. Zero credibility.
  14. I had the same thought....I saw 'smorgasbord' and thought 'buffet'!!! Chow down!
  15. Nothing wrong with that. A left dominated supreme court would be infinitely better than a right dominated supreme court, IMHO. Way too many conservatives in the court now. Yes, the amount of vacation provided in most jobs in the US is absurdly low.. I've been at places with only 2 weeks vacation, though 3 to start is the norm in my industry... I had 4 weeks at one place after a few years. 6 weeks is common in Europe.

  17. This car reminds me of one of those puzzles they have in Collectible Automobile magazine occasionally, an illustration several car parts glommed together and you have to guess what came from where... too bizzare
  18. Keeping things out of reach is something I've been learning about the last couple weeks with a 5 month old puppy at home now... the adult dogs in the house are fine, but the puppy (3 pounds of Yorkie joy) will take my socks out of the clothes basket, chew on my shoes, even try and carry off the tv remote... She even unzipped my backpack which was sitting on the sofa, pulled out my iPod, and started chewing on the earbuds.. Ginger:
  19. The whole prospect of the merger still seems surreal to me. Desperate times lead to desperate decisions.
  20. Perhaps the Lexus GS? It has a really short tail. Very similar greenhouse and tail to the '10 LaCrosse. I like the ultra short deck on the CTS coupe, since it's a fastback.. the short deck on the CTS sedan looks ok, IMHO. What I don't like about so many of these designs, though, is the rear quarters end up very wedge-like with a tall, very short deck... it's amazing how tall some cars are from the top of the deck to the bottom of the fascia today.. One of the things I like about the Panthers is they are nicely balanced...longish hood, long decklid...that's an old-style proportion you don't see anymore... I always liked the proportions of the '90-97 Town Cars, perfect for a big American car, IMHO.
  21. I just can't support the conservatives... they don't represent me or my reality. If the Republicans had a more moderate, centrist candidate, I could certainly consider them, but I can't support the far right social conservatives.
  22. Yeah.... which is the lesser of two evils---merge with large layoffs following, or declare bankruptcy with large layoffs following? One article I saw today said that if GM declared bankruptcy next year, Ford and Chrysler would immediately follow..something about they'd have to be able to match GM's terms with labour or something to that effect.
  23. I wouldn't have voted for McCain anyway. I usually always vote Democratic, I just can't bring myself to support the Republicans.
  24. I couldn't see the point in having both a Tahoe and Traverse and an Acadia and Yukon on Lambda, they'd be redundant, since the Lambdas are as big as the GMT-900s are now..
  25. I know a number of people that had electrical problems with the Jettas from 2 generations back (the mid to late '90s). Probably was due to poor Mexican build quality.
