Who wants to put all that work into an engine just to get good power and reliability out of it? It should come from the factory that way. -
Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven

but that's just it.... the reason it was done that way was due to complaints about daytime closures. -
Eh... in my interactions with Hyundai reps... they specifically mention S-Class.

The problem is that no one ever wants to pay for anything and they never want to be inconvenienced. There is one project going on near me where they are only allowed to do work after 10pm and before 6am, so they end up paying a bunch extra to have overnight workers. -
The strange fall-out from this is that now all car makers are going to be rushing out with big recalls. My bet is that we'll see a bunch of big recalls announce over the next few months and the GM recalls will kind of be drowned out in the noise.

Hyundai desperately wants this to compete with the S-Class... and it simply doesn't. Besides... if that's the case, then what is the Equus for?

Fuel cells have an even smaller refueling network than EVs do.. At least in an EV.. if I need to plug in to a 110v outlet and wait... I can. Try doing that with a Fuel Cell.

Wasn't that the whole point of MQB? By making the platform super flexible and spreading the costs out further, they would be able to do updates sooner. My guess is that someone in management saw the cost savings of MQB and decided to just keep the refresh cycle at the normal pace and pocket the savings instead. And who does 7 year model refreshes anymore? Even the W-Bodies didn't go that long.- 16 replies

EVs are not causing a shortfall today, but the increase in fuel economy in vehicles across the board is. I'm driving a V6 8-speed dodge durango this week. Highway I'm getting 26mpg. 20 years ago when the gas tax was last adjusted, I would have been getting 18 mpg tops in the same vehicle. -

if we could have an honest talk about raising the fuel taxes, gradually, to appropriately cover our crumbling infrastructure, we wouldn't need these experimental ideas. Those driving EVs and even PEVs, yes, should probably have to get taxed per mile. -
